This is a series on instructional videos on selecting, constructing and playing acoustic guitars by Jeffrey Yong. He is uniquely special because he is constructing guitars from Malaysian wood.
Jeffrey Yong is a Malaysian Luthier, best known for making his guitars using local woods. His knowledge and use of alternative tonewoods has placed him among the top Luthiers in the world.
In 2006, his Monkeypod (local wood) guitar won the first prize in the Blind Listening Test in the Guild of American Luthiers convention in terms of tonality, timbre and sustain. Coming in third prize was his Malaysian Blackwood guitar. Jeffrey is still an active luthier today, manufacturing highly valued guitars using locally sourced woods.
