Any time spent with paper, pen/pencil is never pointless or a waste of time no matter what you are doing. Focus your mind on the tip of your chosen device making marks on paper makes the world, and its worries, go away even if for a too short a time. All art, all creativity is valuable way above the cost of the materials. Oh, by the way, love this idea 🙏
I allready have a sketch book dedicated to the great moments of my life ,its very satisfying to do and look at , i do it like a comic with speach bubbles adds to the fun activating memories 😊😊😊😊
Tobi, your Urban Sketching brought me back to watercoloring over a year ago! From sketching I returned to my interest in doodling. Between these two compatible drawing methods I have soared in producing a lot of painting and enjoyed every moment. Thank you for the helpful boost in building my confidence and productivity!
Thank you for sharing this. I thought the doodles alone were something I’d like to try, and then you added the grey shadows, and then the little pops of colour … ❤️
This is soooo much fun and opened a whole new bunch of ideas to sketch. It’s also increasing my drawing skills and confidence. Thank you once again Toby.
A very enjoyable video thank you Toby. I usually carry a small sketchbook and a couple of pens when I'm out and about. This has inspired me to do more with my brush pens at home too.
Thanks for watching. If you want more like this then I have FOUR doodle classes on SkillShare! The first 500 people to use my link will get a 1 month free trial of Skillshare - skl.sh/tobysketchlooseartistandurbansketcher02241
Thanks for this! Really enjoyable. I want to get into doodling, I used to really enjoy it. Generally just random shapes, and cats! But these are some interesting ideas you’ve presented. So thank you. 😊
At school I doodled constantly I really must return to it! I keep hearing SkillShare, must find out more about it. I‘ll try to do some „my life“ doodles, thanks for the idea!
Well, I love doodling, but I never thought of using it for something like this. I usually doodle when I'm on the phone or watching tv. I recently started to think it would be fun to add doodles to my daily journaling. Why I never thought to do that, I have no idea, but this method looks fun. I have a Skillshare subscription, so I will definitely look into your class there.
Hi Toby! Thanks for the videos! I'm new to urban sketching, but already totally in it, I've tried some methods and became the fond of the 'pen - water soluble ink - brush' method. I guess you are full of ideas and requests, however I'd really appreciate if you could make some more in-depth videos regarding this technique.
Love your videos and I really enjoyed your Skillshare course Doodling People: Build Confidence and Drawing Skills through Sketching. I highly recommend it!
Brilliant video, thank you Toby! What is your favourite thing to cook or eat after you cooked it? I remember when I lived in England, I loved Yorkshire pudding and cottage pie, to name a couple.
Haha what a GREAT question - I cook a lot of curries and things like that. My favourite, that's hard - I actually most crave really simple stuff (hummus on freshly cooked bread). And I do love making hummus and bread, so perhaps that counts?
@@TobySketchLoose ahaha, yummy!! So hummus and freshed baked bread and curries, so nice! I love curry as well!! I am getting hungry now! 😃 Have a great day!! P.s Toby would it be ok for you if I sent you an email in the next few days? I will share details in the mail (no selling!) And you can always tell me to p...off. As you always say, because that would make me really, really happy 🤩
I went to skillshare to find how much it would cost to join for a year and couldn’t find it. I don’t join anything when they are not up front about their pricing.
It depends on your location, if you start a trial account you should be given an exact number before popping in your card details. In the UK it's around £110 a year I think, or perhaps £10 or so a month
I went to your Skillshare class on curating your own watercolor pallet and downloaded the swatch pdf. When I printed it it came out dirty. The background is not clean . If I painted yellow into the swatch it would look dirty yellow. Is there a way to fix that
Hi Michelle, I can't explain that I'm afraid. The background should be clear, it is just lines, certainly when I print the file it comes out ok. I'm sorry this isn't the case for you.
Another great video 👍 Unfortunately, I never seem to see these videos show up in my UA-cam feed any more, since I can’t turn on notifications because your “…content is made for kids.” You may want to speak to Google/UA-cam on how to fix that. Cheers
Thanks for the heads up, can confirm my videos do not have the option 'made for kids' selected. It might be settings your end, my vids are mostly viewed from people's browsing and home screen.
@@TobySketchLoose No, it’s not a setting at my end. I worked in Tech for many years. You can test this issue easily, by just asking someone who isn’t subscribed to your channel (maybe a friend) to subscribe and see if they can turn on notifications. This issue can occur even if you had 1 video in the past where you might have selected the option for kids. Other channels I’m subscribed to are mostly fine. I believe you need to contact Google/UA-cam to get this resolved. Good luck 🍀 BTW, I’ve tested this on both my iPhone UA-cam app, and the UA-cam app on my Sony 4K TV. I’m more than willing to do a Skype session to show you, if you like. Cheers
@@TobySketchLoose Unfortunately, it hasn’t. Google, in its wisdom flags a channel as “made for kids” (and thus disables notifications) but never changes that back again until you contact them to fix the issue. Looks like you will need to contact Google/UA-cam to have them fix the issue. Good luck!

It looks so effortless for you, but I’m guessing decades of doodling got you here. Great video.

I'm using your channel as a guide for when I get too overworked at my desk. Instead of scrolling, I dry doodling
Love this, it’s like having permission to just play! The whole video feels super cozy. 😊

Thanks a lot Toby, for the first time I understand what sketching is all about!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️
Love doodling...and painting them.
I also love watching you doodle, then painting them. 😊

Doodling is meditative creativity! I love to draw, sketch, paint and create!.
You are a very valuable teacher!, I also think that your way teaching doodles can be helpful for people who are struggling with depression. ❤
Sir, my name is Dirk and I live in San Antonio, Texas, USA. I absolutely love your tutorials. Thank you.
You are very welcome

Love it
As much as I really enjoy your videos, I would love to see your avant-garde-carpenter-electrician father’s lamp, any chance??😬
I'll pop a pick up on instagram soon :)
Love it🤩

I don't use pencils at all!
I love your channel Toby
I spotted you have book but I can't find it to buy. Can you help? 🙂
Ahhh it's all sold out at present! Hopefully a new one soon :)
What green grid mat is that on your desk, and what size? Thanks...
A2 'cutting mat' - from the internet somewhere!
