Sketchy Tool's Software Concept

This is a description of a sketchy tool I'm working on, including an overview of the concept and a software example.
The sketchy PCB tool will have an I2C bus connection, an OLED display, and a rotary encoder.
By adjusting the value of a data variable on the display and clicking the button, the data is sent over I2C to another circuit, which can be any project being worked on where it would be nice to be able to tweak data variables on the fly without having to re-upload software to the project.
This is especially useful when working on a project while away from the programming tools, and needing a way to adjust/fine tune something on the fly.
