I'm sure I can get 59p worth of enjoyment out of this. Will give it a whirl. Jim, if you just remembered you were in the parlour with your Mum, you'd have probably been OK.
+Jim Sterling If possible Jim can you try to look for more variation in the future? I know Steam is flooded with shitty "horror" games and by all means cover them but it looks like you found a diamond in the rough by digging a little deeper. This video makes me wonder if there are more interesting if not flawed games out there on Steam that I'm missing out on because they are buried in Greenlights shit. If you can, thanks! But if not then thank god for you regardless. Love the vids!
That was an interesting game to play. I managed to frame the father my first run through, but he arrest caused the mother to die in grief, so the action was not without consequence. But hey, I got the whole estate to myself! It will be interesting to get all the different endings.
I remember seeing a RPG-maker game with somewhat similar idea, but really god implementation. It was about making an elaborate dungeon with different traps and spooks and kidnapping people. The challenge was that you had to break their will without killing them, but also kill them before they get to the exit, if you fail to drive them to true desperation. To achieve that you needed to guess their fears from conversations before kidnapping. And each session ended with you posting the video on the forum and getting reviews, which could be pretty devastating if you kill your victim too fast or was sloppy and univentive. It was really fucking hard.
+Michel Borer I don't get it! The game has all original graphics that don't even look like jRPG (I quite like it actually, it looks like old isometric games) but the menu is default...
Huh... the protagonist is quite a dick, but it seems like we're meant to think so as we step into his shoes as a cold-blooded murderer, and he's not the only reprehensible one, so fair enough.
one day Jim will read what to do properly. the whole enter a room then place the evidence from the INVENTORY, was a big hint to try find a inventory button lol (or at least check keybinds before playing)
+CrythornMadness I may have shouted that at the screen when he was wandering about cursing the lack of option. Clearly Jim was merely faking mortal frailties in order that we not be consumed with inferiority.
I think this is a nice little effort. The characters have definite personalities and there is an attempt to make intelligent dialogue choices. Yeah, I'd buy it for a $1.
I feel really bad for developers who resort to using RPG Maker because of their lack of experience. There are some great stories and ideas that go into these types of games. But, while RPG Maker is very accessible it's also very limiting unless you know exactly what you're doing.
+lyingpancake95 But if your plans don't exceed those limits, is that really a problem? Yes, it's good to have some ambition and maybe put some more effort in, add a bit of coding or something, maybe then their stories or ideas would get more recognition... But if you just want to make a fun little project in your spare time... Relatively low costs, allows you to implement basic ideas... I see no real issue, especially if it's priced accordingly. The only issue I see is that if too many people do it and flood the market, using stock assets and such, then it can be somewhat annoying or get them all tarred with the same brush if most are bad... But then you could say the same for any game engine... And even if many free ones are available, I don't see that they don't have value... Same with flash games too... Either way, you never know, maybe someone with greater ambition will play it and approach the original creator to remake the game with a better engine, with better graphics and a bit more mechanically diverse... Although I'm not sure exactly what you might want to add mechanically to this... Which is partly why I don't see an issue with them using this engine for this type of game lol
+lyingpancake95 Also, there is some really really great (german) RPG-Maker Games like "Reise ins All" and "El Dorado", which are not at all limited but even profit from the RPG maker, in my opinion.
I would have to say that this was actually enjoyable to watch, or listen to by Jim's voice acting. Murdering the sister would've been cold-blooded if not for the fact she was an unbearable little twit. Too bad murdering the father wasn't an option because his being alone demands somebody needs to take him out. The mother was just complacent and I hate those type of people in abusive situations. The entire family is terrible; I see why George left and refused to come back (despite George being unpleasant himself). What a horrible night for a moider!
ignore the Rpg Maker Haters. it is a fantastic engine. that does have great games. it is true a lot of people who have no business making games so good ones are harder to find...
Dammit Jim! You were doing great until you chose library instead of parlour. I was very interested in seeing how the detective would solve the case if the player didn't raise any suspicion.
Lots of people arguing over thi being an RPG maker game? So are Ib & Yume Nikki, To The Moon & Actual Sunlight. Quality does not come from the tools, but from the hand that uses them.
My first play through, I took the knife from the kitchen and the poem from the writing desk. I planted the poem in the kitchen and then murdered my sister with the knife. The maid took the fall. Second play through, I planted the poem in the same room I got it and then used the rope to hang her. Of course all my conversations revolved around my sister's obsession and her attempted suicide. Officially ruled a suicide.
Bought a copy for myself and one for a friend. If indie devs make a good game and sell it for less than a dollar, I am on board. Keep me informed of the gems jim, it is appreciated.
Hey Jim! What are your thoughts on the removal of the activities feed on UA-cam, that being how we can't see what videos our subscriptions like, share and favorite? I feel like it's a really big deal for finding and sharing videos but no one seems to be talking about it...
You missed a great opportunity to do a Clue segue at the end there. I thought it was a requirement on the internet actually for videos like this. For 76 cents this seems worth it. Definitely picking it up right now.
+Cooltrainer Ian The whole setting is his father's 50th birthday. So, unless she is 30+ years older than her husband, she's not in her 80s (although that gray makes me wonder...)
I love this. I think I'm gonna buy it after watching this video. The problem is I've already seen most of it here :( I'm curious to try out different things though
This seems pretty cool, and it's ripe for a sequel or expansion, with a different house, a different family, different objects. Seems pretty well executed. Like Lucius, but not secretly kinda shitty.
of course you get comments from people who haven't even watched the video talking about how bad it is in a tedious attempt at popularity, but it actually seems quite interesting.
I actually bought this game thanks to this. I would be grateful if you could continue showing off the brighter side of steam instead of reviewing crappy "horror" games.
I don't know whats wrong with rpg maker games if they are well made. One of my favorite rpg's of all time was actually made with rpg maker believe it or not. I don't know if this is good though, haven't seen the full video yet.
+PoweredByFlow the problem is the signal to noise ratio is so low. for every good RPGmaker game on steam, there are two dozen shit games that belong on RPGmaker forums.
They should re-release this game with Jim doing all the voice overs.
You mean VideoGamer's Jim? If so, then yes.
+Xen Noxatron oh god yes
+Datalore528491 THIS
I'm trying to eat but each time Jim does the maid's voice I choke from laughter, brilliant!
I know it's an older reference, but:
better dog A.I. than COD: AW. 9.5/10
Ghosts do you mean?
Sure, lol. I stopped paying attention to the subtitles of those games years ago, can't keep them straight.
And if they had AI fish, I'm sure they couldn't 'move out of the way when you get close to them' as good as they did in ghosts.
+Jonathan Lewis yeah good one, hey 2012 called and wants its easy target back .-.
+Sticksanity Who cares? They're all the same. (I say this out of ignorance of cod games)
I'm sure I can get 59p worth of enjoyment out of this. Will give it a whirl. Jim, if you just remembered you were in the parlour with your Mum, you'd have probably been OK.
+Paul Dennett Yeah, that's clearly the bit that tripped me up I think.
+Paul Dennett The prompt said to enter any room and select the item from your inventory, which apparently exists.
So that was the other problem.
+Jim Sterling Well, that and not opening the inventory to plant the evidence as you had just been told/read out before entering the room.
+Jim Sterling Wait, if you are british, why do you live in the US? I thought British people disliked the US.
ARE YOU CRAZY? ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MOIND? YOU COULDA BEEN MOIDERED
+Seank7
H3h3h3
Moider most foul
Considering Jim is probably as good at plotting as Jimsaw, I'm not surprised by this video's ending.
That was an interesting game to play. I managed to frame the father my first run through, but he arrest caused the mother to die in grief, so the action was not without consequence. But hey, I got the whole estate to myself! It will be interesting to get all the different endings.

+SAUglaz Beautiful Escape?
DonEstrategia
Yes! Probably should try it again.
+SAUglaz Whre can I get it? Sounds ... interesting ... you know, for science.
Marongue
rpgmaker.net/games/2068/
+SAUglaz Spooks, huh? That's pretty racist, man.
I love how you can recognise RPG Maker games by their title screens...
Ikr
+Michel Borer not if you get some talent and make your own!
You and I love very different things.
+Michel Borer I'm pretty sure you can replace that menu with whatever you want, but so many choose to lazily keep the Final Fantasyesque start menu.
+Michel Borer I don't get it! The game has all original graphics that don't even look like jRPG (I quite like it actually, it looks like old isometric games) but the menu is default...
The voices made this way more entertaining to watch
Huh... the protagonist is quite a dick, but it seems like we're meant to think so as we step into his shoes as a cold-blooded murderer, and he's not the only reprehensible one, so fair enough.
His father is the biggest dick I've seen since I looked down.
+GuyOnAChair So really small?
Jim your voice acting is super your protagonists voice was great. You should record some audio books
Sofia's voice was TOO GOOD. THE DEVS SHOULD PAY FOR YOUR VOICEWORK, JIM!
Loving the voices. Especially making the sister sound like Lumpy Space Princess from Adventure Time.
This one is a fine example of what a reasonably talented dev can do even on an extremely small budget.
It's always nice to hear Jim's decent into madness when he is reading dialogue.
Jims voice on the girl amused me and made me smile ^^
one day Jim will read what to do properly. the whole enter a room then place the evidence from the INVENTORY, was a big hint to try find a inventory button lol (or at least check keybinds before playing)
+CrythornMadness I may have shouted that at the screen when he was wandering about cursing the lack of option.

Good little game. Best RPG Maker game I've seen in a little while.
I think this is a nice little effort. The characters have definite personalities and there is an attempt to make intelligent dialogue choices. Yeah, I'd buy it for a $1.
49 cents? Really? This game is pretty great.
So I take it if Jim got it right on where he was when the body was found, he would have come up clean?
+Dr.ErikNefarious that's what i got from it.
I feel really bad for developers who resort to using RPG Maker because of their lack of experience. There are some great stories and ideas that go into these types of games. But, while RPG Maker is very accessible it's also very limiting unless you know exactly what you're doing.

+lyingpancake95 Better that someone makes a half-assedly decent game with RPG Maker than a big steaming pile of muskrat shit with Unity or Unreal.
+lyingpancake95 Also, there is some really really great (german) RPG-Maker Games like "Reise ins All" and "El Dorado", which are not at all limited but even profit from the RPG maker, in my opinion.
I feel like they could do this game and flesh it out way more once they figure out how to work with another engine
+Japez 4 Dayz I was in the middle of making a self aware pile of shit with RPG Maker... However stopped mid way through.
This is a great idea for a game, gotta say. I just hope it doesn't teach any would-be murderers how to...Ya know..
+Faris Irizevak Your pic just gave me the feels. You get a like for being a fellow Shaper.
Resume monitoring, brother
+Faris Irizevak Well, they'd end up with blood all over them if they followed Jimsaw's plan here.^^
I love Jim's whiny, yet sinister voice.
needs more animuh portraits and nightcore at the end tbh
I would have to say that this was actually enjoyable to watch, or listen to by Jim's voice acting. I just watched this, I'm in LOVE with this game!
And bought! Thanks for playing this Jim, this is just the sort of cheesy fun to help me survive the end weeks of the fall semester.
ignore the Rpg Maker Haters. it is a fantastic engine. that does have great games. it is true a lot of people who have no business making games so good ones are harder to find...
I would actually really like to see you do this at least one more time.
Jim Sterling: Voice Acting closer to Skeletor than Alan Rickman.
Dammit Jim! You were doing great until you chose library instead of parlour. I was very interested in seeing how the detective would solve the case if the player didn't raise any suspicion.
7 minutes in and I already can't contain myself. this is fantastic JFSS
You cocked it up, Jim. I wish you wouldn't get tired of doing the voices. I could listen to that shit all day.
Lots of people arguing over thi being an RPG maker game? So are Ib & Yume Nikki, To The Moon & Actual Sunlight. Quality does not come from the tools, but from the hand that uses them.
Came for the game footage, Stayed for the voice overs!
I really liked this game. Neat idea.
You know, this could be a good starting point for a game based on Kind Hearts and Coronets.
Bought a copy for myself and one for a friend. If indie devs make a good game and sell it for less than a dollar, I am on board. Keep me informed of the gems jim, it is appreciated.
3:54 MY INCEST FANFIC IS RUINED!!!1!one
-oh wait that's not his sister nevermind xddd-
Let's just use the power of denial and pretend this is a real time strategy with a turn based battle system.
best Sherlock episode yet
holyshit, this is amazing. I love your voices so much, Jim!
Very enjoyable, great voice acting, perhaps this could be called a dark satire.
I was playing this for around a hour and a half easly worth 69p
I thought that moustached guy was going to say,'I drink your milkshake!'.
Jim, clearly this dev should have hired you to do some 9.5 voice acting!
I smell an RPG Maker game... with unique assets :O!
This actually seems interesting...I love the music as well
Hey Jim! What are your thoughts on the removal of the activities feed on UA-cam, that being how we can't see what videos our subscriptions like, share and favorite? I feel like it's a really big deal for finding and sharing videos but no one seems to be talking about it...
Costs 74 cents currently...I'll give it a try
You missed a great opportunity to do a Clue segue at the end there. I thought it was a requirement on the internet actually for videos like this.
For 76 cents this seems worth it. Definitely picking it up right now.
That was genuinely intriguing. I'm going to pick this up now...
For how terrible Guise of the Wolf was, it certainly made enough of an impression that Jim and some others are constantly quoting it :P
Jim should voice act out characters more often ... his ole british accents are fucking hilarious
Refreshing to see a RPGmaker game that isn't pure garbage as of late.
Ah the long forgotten early concept of Hitman: Adventure Mode.
for a woman in her 80s his mother has a very hot face.
+Cooltrainer Ian The whole setting is his father's 50th birthday. So, unless she is 30+ years older than her husband, she's not in her 80s (although that gray makes me wonder...)
back in THOSE days 50 was the new 80s.
This game reminds me of kind hearts and coronets, for fairly obvious reasons.
The mother is friggin hot
"You can't do it dirty, you gotta do it clean!" -A Crackhead
I am going to pick this game up, thanks!
This was pleasant, bravo Mr Sterling, bravo....
I love this. I think I'm gonna buy it after watching this video. The problem is I've already seen most of it here :( I'm curious to try out different things though
ahahahahha!! god dangit... XD
I would buy this ten times over if you did the voice overs...
The Jim Sterling dinner theatre is always wonderful.
This seems pretty cool, and it's ripe for a sequel or expansion, with a different house, a different family, different objects. Seems pretty well executed. Like Lucius, but not secretly kinda shitty.
So this is the backstory on how agent 47 became to be so skillful in the Hitman series.
You can tell straight away it's a RPG Maker game
+Wehavecookies Most are like that, even the good ones like Off and Yume Nikki.
with some creativity and work you can make something memorable using rpg maker. Corpse Party being the best example i can think of
Yeah, or what about To The Moon? That was a really nice little game. And Witch's House wasn't terrible either
+Wehavecookies Yeah I can tell this is from RPG Maker, but at least this one had effort put into it.
+Renhosoft
Or to name examples which are avaiable on Steam: LISA and Undertale
Doing the redhead woman's voice makes you sound like Zippy from Rainbow!
of course you get comments from people who haven't even watched the video talking about how bad it is in a tedious attempt at popularity, but it actually seems quite interesting.
And Jim balls it up right at the end, classic XD
I actually bought this game thanks to this. I would be grateful if you could continue showing off the brighter side of steam instead of reviewing crappy "horror" games.
99 Cents for this? This is a good simple game for 99 cents.
Good to see you reverting back to your obviously natural accent here, Jim.
You should've been hired to do the voice acting for this game.
your skullery maid is on point!!!
tbh even if the graphics are kinda bleh this looks like a really interesting use of rpg maker, im gonna pick it up since 59p is incredibly cheap
0:19 PILGRIM ADVENTURES?! I came here for The Deed. I was promised The Deed, and yet these "developers" have the audacity to lie?!
+Golden Engi pretty sure pilgrim adventures is the dev, not game title
+CrythornMadness THAT'S WHAT THEY WANT YOU TO BELIEVE. OPEN YOUR EYES SHEEPLE
I'm actually curious to see a part 2 of this. Any luck Jim?
The voices were the best part.
I want Jim to read lots of audio books. All female characters need to sound like Sofia.
That was pretty interesting. Loved the voices though!
So, are you gonna do another playthrough? Where you do it correctly?
I kinda want to see you do this one again in the future just to see if you can get away with the Deed given another shot.
This game seams prity fun surprisingly
come for the lets play. stay for the voice acting.
I missed these accents, Jim knows how to work the tongue ;)
This was interesting. I might even like to see a retry.
Really fun video! I'm surprised at how incompetent you are at murder though, Jim. Out of practice?
Those bloody voices though haha. Pure entertainment. Better than English TV!.... Though that's not difficult.... Still, kept me smiling cx
Jim, will you do a video on youtuber bait?
I like that Raven's Cry voice he has
Such talent! Much voice over!
Sound like one of those bad impressions from Adam Sandler.
I have to admit i'm suprised this game isn't terrible.
jimbo, whats your opnion on heliborne. it has 4 devs, in early alpha and they are planing to put it in early access soon, looks good imho.
an RPG maker game. also is it that hard to make your own menu sounds?
Doesn't seem to take away from the experience, though, does it?
I don't know whats wrong with rpg maker games if they are well made. One of my favorite rpg's of all time was actually made with rpg maker believe it or not. I don't know if this is good though, haven't seen the full video yet.
+Антон Прохожий The gamey bleeps are really jarring in such a dark game.
+PoweredByFlow the problem is the signal to noise ratio is so low. for every good RPGmaker game on steam, there are two dozen shit games that belong on RPGmaker forums.
+Exigentable But isn't that true for pretty much every single game engine out there?
