Hello. I don't have the S-1, but you must be able to control it via MIDI from your keyboard without problems. Normally these Aira are configured by default to receive MIDI data through channel 1.

@@synthebo But only with the correct cable and Roland doesn't help make this decision. There is a red one and a blue one on Amazon, both $13, one presumably works, the other may not, since it is wired differently.
