Was just thinking how there needs to be longer, more in-depth tutorials for the J-6. Thank you!
I have to admit. You are a wonderful teacher and artist...since Teaching is an art . With you to discover the j6 was and is a pleasure not a hazard.
Thank you very very much. many regards from Chris Bunch of flowers music
My two last synth purchases -- neither recent -- were the J-6 and the JX-08, which means I'm feeling grateful for your recent posts. Thank you. You are a generous scholar.
Or to phrase it differently, you might get content out of showing how to connect the two units and how they represent three voices and how to use all three sequencers in conjunction. He said selfishly.
This was pretty informative, thank you. I've ordered one and am now looking forward to trying it even more.
Man you are the best. Thank YOU a lot.
The best tutorial on YT
🥰😍🤩
Nice video, thanks !
I repost here a comment, for the "problem" you point at 21'20" (when the sequence restart with a step without style/variation on, it takes the last style/variation from prvious step, i.e. the last in your case), you can manage it like that :
To do that you've to set a style/variation for the step you want "unchanged", but you've to choose the right one. And, it's cool because it exists: these are style 3 / variation 1 to 12, depending of the length (Beat parameter in menu) setting of your step.
For example, if your steps length is set to 4 beats (i.e. 4 quarter note or one measure), you could use the style 3/ variation 2 if you want that the chord (or note) is "simply" playing for the length of the step, independantly of the style/variation setting of other steps.
So, you can use for example these "standard" settings of style/variation for living a step unchanged, depending of your step length setting:
Step length 8 beat (2 measure or 8 quarter note in 4/4): 3/1
Step length 4 beat (1 measure or 4 quarter note in 4/4): 3/2
Step length 2 beat (1/2 measure or 2 quarter note in 4/4): 3/3
Step length 1 beat (1/4 measure or 1 quarter note in 4/4): 3/4
Step length 1/2 beat (1/8 measure or 1 eighth note in 4/4): 3/5
Step length 1/4 beat (1/16 measure or 1 sixteenth note in 4/4): 3/6
For odd beat (triplet), see other variations in same style (n°3).
More widely, I recommand to explore style 3 to 5 for different beat combinaison per step (see manual), according to your steps length, it's very fun, this little box is a beast :)
Important: if you change the variation while playing a sequence, you've to restart the sequence to avoid strange behaviour.
Finally !! Yeeeesssssss thank you very much, your work, dedication and talent is incredible and inexhaustible.😃
Thanks for the comment bro !!! It is always nice to hear the work helps people. Love the comment. Thanks

Right on time! I bought a SP404 MK2 2 weeks ago and yesterday i received 250 euro's in giftcards from the shop i order from because i left them a review! already wasted 100 euro's on the official 404 travel bag, ripcord cable and rechargeable batteries.... leaves me with 150 left and dont know what to buy 😁 So i was indeed looking at these Roland devices and i must say they are a good candidate to be my next purchase!
Woowww. Whats the name of the shop?
Big thx for this enlightenment! ....Roland has to pay you
The most awesome thing for me is sending Midi out to any synth, playing chords through them .....(Non mono synths)
Does it works? I'm thinking about to use it on a Pro800
yes, the "keyboard" you see on the screen is MIDI sent by the J-6 through the DAW and catching it on SCALER.

Hello could you explain how can we use S-1 or T-8 (bass) with J-6 in terms of using j-6’s 64 bar. You know s-1 is limited with 4 bar (64 step) and T-8 is limited 2 bar (32 step) so if we can use j-6 sequencer for writing T-8’bass pattern it would be very nice
Awesome vid again, thx
Thanks you. They really knocked it out of the park with this one and the S-1.
Is there a way to program a step to not follow the previous step's style/variation? For instance, no style/variation on a step after one with the function on.

@@hyperyt6730 awesome. I wish this was in the manual. Thanks for figuring it out and sharing. I'll try it out later and report back.
@@oudacide you're welcome :) the style n°3 is really handy for basic but essential operation like that. You can decrypt that in the manual page 34, but it's not really evident
@@hyperyt6730 this works! Thank you so much!!! 😊
If each of the steps are 4 beats how do i put the chord on the 3rd beat not the 1st? They all seem to start on the 1st beat. I want to make Dub type chords but can't seem to work out how to put them anywhere but on the one.The Manual is not the best.
Cool!! está buenísimo!!
Cuando me libere te chiflo y hacemos lo que hablamos :)
I would like to ask you where I can download a keyboard as seen in your video compatible with Ableton Live 11 and J-6 thanks
I was wondering if there is a way to add distortion! 🤘
how do I add a scaler like you did??? Thank you
On 21:21 you explained that the lonely chord is overwritten by the variation step. Do you know a way that the lonely chord on step 1remains available? Thank you by the way for your deep dive into this chord synth. Your amazing!

@@hyperyt6730 Thank you very much, I needed that information!
Thanks for this tutorial. Can you please do the JD08 Roland boutique
Thanks for the comment. Alright I'll add the JD08 to the wish list and see if I get one at a good price.
5:10 You missed the shift functions in filter and envelope....
Oh crap. Thanks for the heads up.
