  • In this video I'll give you a quick preflight then go over the Cold Start and Shutdown of the Chotia JC-24B40C Weehopper and Rotax 277 engine. Understand this is an Experimental airplane and your preflight may be a little different. ALWAYS remember that every propeller is hot and could potentially hurt you. Although I did not do it in this video due to only having one hand free, it is always a good idea to have at least your lap belt on when starting and running any piece of equipment. If you are going to move the equipment, you must have on your seat belt!

      @@bmitchely This was my lucky week apparently. On Monday I got a 400 dollar flight jacket there for 40 bucks, then I am leaving the fly market and decide on a whim to look behind this crate and there she was! The tag read 200 and I almost fell over. I had to hand cart that damn thing all the way to my truck which was about three miles away in a huge crowd! And awesome about the Weed I spoke to John Chotia many times on the phone and half built a woodhopper!

    Any idea where I can get plans and material list for this? Official website is no help whatsoever. Every person I have tried to contact so far is dead. Most websites for plans are fake or hackers. I am close to giving up on this and going with the affordaplane. Thanks for any help or advice.

      Have a look on Facebook for the Weedhopper Group. There are ways to get plans, but since Covid, not though modern (online) channels.

    Tell me what kind of thrust can be removed from this motor? what is your gearbox? what is the gear ratio?

    • @bmitchely
      @bmitchely  2 роки тому +2

      Привет Роман!
      I have not measured it myself but the measure of 167 U.S. Pounds (or about 76 Kilograms) of thrust has been given. The standard Rotax Gearbox ratio is 2.58:1 and the propeller is a Tennessee Propeller 60x28 (58 inch diameter by 28 inch pitch). Hope this helps!

    have you got a fuel pump to get the fuel to the carb?

    • @bmitchely
      @bmitchely  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, there is a Mikuni pulse fuel pump first visible about 0:51 on the cooling shroud. Look for the fuel lines going to the small silverish rectangle piece. The thumb of my left hand is "pointing" at it.

    Tell about this engine

    • @bmitchely
      @bmitchely  3 роки тому

      Certainly, It is a Rotax 277 with a redrive. Nothing special except for being out of production. There are new, better and lighter powerplants one could choose but I got this one for a Chotia 460 trade.
