    What better way to kick off the winter than tearing the Impala apart again...
    Torqhead is in the garage and you aren't going to want to miss this. Their entire kit is being installed on UA-cam's favorite Impala and every step is going to be documented right here on the channel.
    Today I go through the different parts, showing you what this all consists of and how it will work. Check back soon for the first couple steps and follow along with each video.

    It's always motivating to see someone doing something different than just throw an LS in it. Sure it's easier but LTs are still amazing engines.

    Sweet, the Torqhead Kit is the last piece of the puzzle to have your build run at its full potential. Your right NOBODY is left who is willing, or is even good at dyno Tuning LT1s. If you ever need help, contact Owen Buchanen at TOP END End Perfomance in Crystal Lake IL. He is a hardcore LT1 guru. I will eventually go Torqhead on both of my LT1s, so your videos will be very insightful.

    Hi JT, This is Ody. We briefly discussed your project a week or 2 ago. You had mentioned
    changing out your Opti but did not tell me what brand you were going to use. I am taking it you did not want to let the cat out of the bag. I too am changing out my opti. If you dont
    remember, I have just about the same engine as you. A just built 383 stroker done at Bills
    in Hanover MD. I also get work done at Autofab. I am disabled and can no longer do most
    of my work. When I first went into the shop they recommended the Torqhead and I was sold. Ready to buy. When I returned to set up my appointment, then they recommended the Holley EFI ECU set up. I wonder what sold you the Torquehead over the Holley? I did hear you say how you loved the costumer support. Is there anything else? I look forward to the up-coming project

    • @RubberCityMotoring
      @RubberCityMotoring  6 років тому

      I didn’t even consider the Holley because I don’t think it does the same thing.
      The turnkey setup, knowledge, ease of install and just overall experience with TorqHead has been great.
      I would highly recommend and endorse them, even without installing it yet. Overall a great company and good to work with. Paul will really take care of you and build your kit exactly how you want.
      Best of luck Ody, let me know if you have other questions.

      Thanks for filling me in. I bought the Holley HP EFI ECU to replace the opti.
      A brand new engine build with mis-fire problems due to a brand new Chevrolet Performance Opti. It looks to be about the same idea as the Torquehead. My
      goal is to eliminate the Opti completely. The Holley also has a nice self tune feature amongst other things. I will go back to autoFab to see if I am missing out on something . . Thanks and Good Luck

    I know this was posted a while ago, so I would hope there are lots of miles on the car now and more people that have done this. Have you (or anyone else that follows this cannel that has made this modification) had any problems with it? Also wondering if you or any followers have had any issues passing smog tests with this kit on? My opti is dying and I'm considering this modification, but the car is my daily driver so it will need to pass NV smog check annually. If anyone has done this mod please let me know if it causes you to fail smog check. Thanks.

    • @RubberCityMotoring
      @RubberCityMotoring  Місяць тому

      Hello! So I have sold the vehicle a few years back. Overall I didn't have issues with the Torqhead products; just getting the tuning dialed in with my 383 was the biggest challenge. Their setup is mostly designed around stock parts, which is ideal. I did pass an Ohio smog check with it here as well; not a visual inspection, but just a pcm check.

    I’m about to say forget it and get one of these kits. I’ve been trying to figure out why my LT1 sputters/misses when it is warm. It happens randomly and my mechanic couldn’t recreate the problem (of course). I’ve tried fuel filter, ICM, cleaned my MAF, fuel system cleaner, and I’m about to try a coil and MAP sensor. I’m starting to get the feeling that it might be an opti.

      Same situation here, turned out to be the seal behind the water pump leaking oil all over my Opti. Now that my car is sitting in my garage with everything removed, I thinking I'll get this kit, put everything back together and be done with it. That way I can walk out to my car someday, start it and have the reliability of an LS with the classic sound of an LT. Best of both worlds. Imo

      It was overkill. My 383 setup ran better with the stock throttle body.

      @@RubberCityMotoring Yes i know a 58mm is overkill, it is on anything that small, you'd want a lot more displacment for a 58mm. I'm more interested in the quality of the unit, they make the same in 52mm which is what my Callaway has factory fitted. Mine is worn and i need a replacement. @@RubberCityMotoring Thanks mate, so far no one has been able to tell me what they were like. Most of the reason it idles worse is due to the IAC path being split out into the main plenum, instead of feeding into the IAC ports where it is meant to go. I mean you probably could do an LS on the cheap, but at the same time - it's gonna have some miles on it and also need refreshing. On top of it, the kit is much easier to do for most. An engine swap isn't a weekend project in most cases, but this truly is a bolt on, no lift required driveway project.
      Thanks for watching!

      Lmao, with my LT1 freshly rebuilt with a CC306 cam, ported heads, etc you think I would want a beat down LS1 swapped in? Nah. Also, since my LT1 is in an F body, I can just walk out and buy an LS1 factory equipped F body if I wanted to lol. Besides, the only reason your LS Juan, exists is because the LT1 got here first. Always remember that if you ever think about bashing an LT1 lol.

      Very good! My setup is somewhat weird so I’m tweaking idle/throttle body for my 383. Torqhead is amazing though :)
