    I don't see how kneeling is disrespecting our flag. It's not like anyone is pissing on it, burning it, shredding it, etc.. This is an extremely peaceful way to protest and should continue. The POTUS has absolutely no say in this particular case. This is freedom of speech being used properly. Instead of going against these protests, why don't people just read about why they're doing it?

      Colin Kaepernick got the idea to kneel from Nate Boyer. Nate Boyer was a green beret in the United States Army. He deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan in support of the Global War on Terrorism. The instruction he gave to Colin was the best course of action he could think of for Colin to still protest. Nate understood the rights of Americans to protest in America. Nate fought for those rights. God bless Colin Kaepernick and God bless Nate Boyer.

    As someone from Europe observing the whole Trump thing from the outside I feel really bad for the US. Trump does not belong in the White House and the fact that he was elected there in the first place is a great shame. Bad times. I hope he gets impeached soon, causing nothing but trouble.

      Todd Beaulieu Google the word “literally”. I think she is using the word to emphasize it is a factual and exact statement. I think you must be thinking of it in the informal sense which, in my opinion, contradicts the actual meaning! Perhaps she will weigh in.
      I agree that the word “literally” is overused, hence the informal use. I think our language as been deteriorating for the past 100 plus years. Sad.

      It's true. We get further and further away from all the things we say this country represents. "America the land of the free" -- if you're rich and white. Everyone else, enter at your own risk. It's all a facade. What's a bit scary is the younger generation believes that we don't need a free media and they don't find anything special about living in a democracy. WHAT? We need to get our shit together.

    • @Ronnet
      @Ronnet 7 років тому +10

      Aditya Joshi It's possible for a country to de-develop itself. Great empires are historically known to collapse due to corruption from within. America is collapsing because greedy politicians funded by cooperation deny basic needs such as healthcare and education to the masses since the profit maximising point happens to be at a sales price that's unaffordable to most. Sensible societies ensure that the government regulates this system so that their populus remains healthy and educated; able to compete on the international market. In America they used to socialism-scare to deny basic needs which has made a few Americans very wealthy at the expense of the masses. This vicious cycle will only get worse as today's uneducated Americans actually cheer on the corrupt right-wingers that are taking away their basic rights.

    EVERYONE who is upset over the 'kneeling of the anthem' debacle *DOESNT GET IT!* The media and even the president (who gave a deplorable response!) have criticized these athletes for choosing this form of protest and labelled them as 'taitors who are unamerican and unpatriotic. Excuse me, but police brutality and racial profiling against black people THAT is unpatriotic and unamerican! Choosing to take a stand publicly to highlight this injustice takes courage! These athletes knew a media storm would come for them and such actions could possibly be career ending but they did it anyway because they felt morally obliged to use their celebrity to help create awareness and form change. *The very ideals which the forefathers envisioned for this great country is NOT being upheld in todays america!* *THATS WHAT THIS PROTEST IS ALL ABOUT!* True equality for ALL! It is NOT The flag nor the greatness of america that is being questioned or even opposed, its a protest against those who are in authority and have violated their positions through misuse of power within the community. White americans who glean over this issue only do so because for them?.........Its NOT an issue! President Trump couldve used this as a teaching tool to unite the country on such a sensitive issue however instead of putting out the fire he instead pours gasoline over it!!! Dave chappelle said it best *AMERICA SELECTED AN INTERNET TROLL TO BE PRESIDENT!*

      and imagine him watching the celebrations and parties.. ugh but hopefully his nutty supporters will not slither out and violently attack anyone...hopefully they will crawl back under their rocks when they don't have the encouragement to somehow think racism and misogyny etc. is somehow okay thats not "pc" thats f*cking common decency and part of what we agree to abide by when we live in civilization, namely to respect and hopefully genuinely empathize with other people, and to let them live their lives if what they choose to do is not harming anyone else. chump supporters claim the "other side" is so violent, and while antics and random people claiming to be with groups like antifa have taken it too far, people allowing the darker side of their human nature to control them (for however long) is the culprit, and idiots ruled by their emotions are on both "sides" but if the election had gone the other way, i think there could've been many tragic incidents, like charlottesville. and to be fair trump isn't necessarily to blame for every person who decides to do violence in his name, but when he encourages violence and division, and sows hate, he IS partly responsible.

    I'm just confused as to why "taking a knee" is considered disrespectful ? The act of kneeling doesn't seem disrespectful to me? It's not like they shouted during the anthem, or even turned away from the US flag, right ? Kneeling shows that you are protesting something, related to the US itself, but it does not seem like something rude ? It seems like a pretty respectful, peaceful and smart way to raise awareness about soething ? I'm not american, so maybe I'm missing something ?

      You are not missing anything; it was not intended to be disrespectful. Kaepernick spoke with a veteran about what he was doing, and the veteran suggested kneeling. Soldiers kneel in respect to fallen soldiers - has nobody ever seen those lawn ornaments that depict a soldier kneeling at another soldier's grave? None of these guys intend to disrespect the military, firemen, policemen, etc. But of course, nobody actually researches anything these days; they just get their panties in a wad and throw a fit. They don't give the first shit about being informed. It's much easier to just remain ignorant and raise hell.
      The whole mess was actually not that much of an issue until Trump had to open his big mouth. It's actually a violation of code for any member of the executive branch of government to attempt to influence private business in this way. All of the players have basically joined in now simply because of Trump's comments. They didn't have a dog in this race until then. They are just showing solidarity... in a respectful manner, as suggested by a former soldier.
      Maybe Kaepernick should have picked another way to make his point, but this is what he chose. I wasn't thrilled with it, either, but it's within his rights to do it.

    • @Haylla2008
      @Haylla2008 7 років тому +2

      I agree that it isn't disrespectful... even though the thing they are protesting doesn't actually exist despite how our media keeps trying to say it does.
      +Malik Osiefa
      The fake issue at hand you mean... or you should mean. Hispanics are statistically the highest perpetrators of hate crimes proportional to their population in the U.S. Following them are blacks. Following them are whites. And way far below that are Asians. There isn't any significant statistical difference between black and white people getting killed in encounters with the cops when you consider that black people are statistically the race that kills cops more often and the cops killed statistically are most often white. Very few shootings by cops were actually done without any reasonable justification. Obviously, I'm all for more police accountability when it actually looks like their actions were too extreme and better training but I'm really tired of people making this a race issue when the statistics don't match up.
      By the way, BLM and ANTIFA have (at least openly) committed way more violence against property and others for the past year than the incredibly small group of white supremacists have in the last decade and I'm willing to bet there are more of them than there are white supremacists in this country. Perhaps your priority of denouncing hate groups should include these two others considering they were all at that rally committing violence against one another, hmm? The irony is that none of it would have happened had they just let the morons protest without going there to counter-protest against them or if the city and police had been smart enough to know letting them mingle would be a bad fucking idea.

      PeterZeeke It's called divide and conquer. Divide society (i.e. race baiting) so it becomes weak, then build it up to operate in a manor the rulers want. What do they want? Globalism. How will it operate? Communism. Why communism? Because communism is a transfer of power from the men in a capitalist society to the rulers (government) of the society.
      Feminism is used to help weaken the men in a society. It's a transfer of power away from men. Especially white men. It's important to weaken white men because they are the majority and are politically active. If you want to convert a society to communism - weaken the resistance.
      Communism is slavery. Anyone who wants communism should be punched in the head.
      Weak men want communism because weak men cannot compete which is what capitalism is (competition amongst mostly males). The weak men want all men to be weak to remove that competition thus allowing their rank in social hierarchy and for it to not be so low. Low rank means lower perks in life.
      This is why Jordan Peterson said weak people should have the decency of being low in social rank because otherwise it decays society.
      So why do male animals compete with other males to get the privilege of mating with the females? Well because it strengthens their specie as a whole. Remove the competition and you have a weak society. And if you have a weak society then you are a controlled society by your rulers (communist government).

      also, the world isn't that black and white.. if she's a liar, does that mean trump can't be a liar for some reason or something? thats obviously asinine! they can both be liars, like most politicians unfortunately. I realize realistically there were two choices, but its so ironic that its the trump supporters who try to say that its the "liberals" or "libtards" (AKA anyone who doesn't agree with them) who can't let the election go, when they are the ones bringing up hillary constantly! chump also is using a private email server, as is ivanka and jared, etc. etc. etc. Also its hilarious that they say the "other side" can't let the election go, when many of them are still not over the south losing the damn civil war ffs! they also don't seem to be over the outcome of WWII! judging by the amount of them who still go to Chump rallies with swastikas and other symbols now known to most people as hate symbols pinned onto their shirts! not every chump supporter is a neo-nazi or alt-right but just watch chumps rallies which he is already running for 2020. he loves applause and having his tiny fragile little snowflake ego stroked, but he doesn't want to do the job of president.. he has no clue how, he's so far in over his head... maybe thats why he escapes the dumpster-fire that is his administration and wastes so much taxpayer money on his golf trips and vacations!!! remember when he talked shit about how much obama golfed... well he has been golfing a hell of a lot more... he's such a joke, an embarrassment, an idiot, and that special counsel is biting at his heels.....LOL! the incompetent orange's policies will hurt his own supporters the most...so count yourself lucky if and when his own crimes catch up to him and he is removed from office and this country is 'made great again' by his absence in office...73% of the country didn't vote for him, half didn't bother to vote even.. and since then, he has just been losing support.. what does is finally feel like to be in a minority as a chump supporter? (if you are indeed one, from your three word comment i won't assume you are, just wanted to put this out there for anyone who cares to read it.)
      ...the two parties are run by the same special interest groups, lobbyists, campaign donors, etc. Money and greed. this perceived division and these "sides" keep us squabbling with our neighbors while ignoring the real problem...politicians for hire, doing favors for billionaires, puppets who care nothing about the people they are supposed to represent until election time rolls around, when they make some empty gesture and count on gerrymandering and outdated BS to keep them in office.

    • @louisgallaher3733
      @louisgallaher3733 7 років тому +3

      nazi refers to those during hitlers regime. neo-nazi are some of todays people. the word neo means new. the big difference is the nazis held power in ww2 germany and the neos are trying to emulate those from ww2. im guessing theres little difference in their mindset, they are anti-semitic and espouse views that should have left this world 70 years ago. hate is still hate. other than maybe a few people over 90 years old, they arent any more nazis. todays neo-nazis are nazi wanna-bes, as they will NEVER be in control unless theres a 4th reich. Lord help us if that happens.

    • @waynewright5023
      @waynewright5023 7 років тому +1

      back@ louis gallaher
      It is also everyone's right to point out and push back against such odious conduct, Mr. Gallaher. That we are even having this conversation, IN the United States, whose WWII veterans literally gave their lives to prevent the foment and spread of displays is bad enough. But, when even the country where this hate ideology got its start is outlawing such displays and symbols, one must wonder if this country hasn't just allowed the First Amendment to become a catchall shield for every fear- and hate-mongering group in the world that is no longer being tolerated in other countries. It's bad enough when this country's politics allow such hate-inciting displays, but now you advocate just looking the other way, as if--naively--this will make these groups just go away. Silence IS acceptance, Mr. Gallaher, and I will NOT silently accept or tolerate such fomentation of hate in the country where I have lived my entire life---a country where we are supposed to be better than this.

    • @louisgallaher3733
      @louisgallaher3733 7 років тому +1

      wayne, you got me wrong. im not advocating looking the other way. im saying that if we ignore these idiots, their message of hate and fear doesnt get the reaction they want. theyre not going to disappear, but they will get frustrated and see that their tactics arent working (so they go somewhere else). for 2 months before the tragic events in charlottesville, the citizens were asked to stay away from that ill-fated rally and hold one of their own in another part of the city. none of these misguided fools is ever going to change their minds (if they even have one), so face-to-face confrontations with them only puts you down to their level. for example, if their hate rally attracts 100 followers and one of peace occurs in another part of town with 1000 participants, thats NOT "silent acceptance." if someone throws a "party," and nobody comes, isnt that a message of condemnation for the 100? i would never tell anyone what to do, but in my mind, protests are a waste of time. so much more can be accomplished by a sit-down exchange of ideas where tempers dont cloud the thinking. we elect our leaders to LEAD--address our concerns to THEM. they commit political suicide if they fail to listen when we calmly present our grievances in the proper public forum. ignoring a "gang" of sign-toters with raised voices marching in the streets is much easier to ignore than a group of well-behaved people with an organized campaign of points necessary to achieve change. what happens when 2 groups with opposite opinions meet in the middle of the street? confrontation, rioting, violence, and more importantly, NO CHANGE to the status quo. im not totally sure what the nfl protests are about, because the message is sometimes lost in the rhetoric, but i think its about racial profiling and brutality by the police toward black people. are you old enough to remember the EXACT same thing happening in the 60s between police and Americas youth (specifically on college campuses)? when the average citizen confronts a police officer, theres no way to win--they hold the cards and we must comply with whatever they say, OR THEY MAY SHOOT US. their job is to uphold the law and without them, we have anarchy. so, in order to effect change, we must do it in council chambers and in the election booth, not in the streets. and in order to get joe average citizen on your side, you must avoid turning his ears off by firing up his emotions for the Anthem and the flag.

      Colbert doesnt poke fun at fact, havent you figured out yet; hes a propaganda machine for all those senators with special interests. Those senators dont give a crap about you btw.

      Suzy Siviter well we can agree on your last point at least. I don't think Colbert works for Congressmen though. If so, why does he call them out every night?

      Zack Franklin: All your mainstream are owned, its no secret, to keep things simple I said senators, but I think it goes higher up then them even.
      Both the US and UK mainstream are working to a globalist agenda, they want open borders and to nullify nationalism. From experience in the UK they will destroy anyone opposing that agenda, which is why they are putting so much effort into attacking Trump.

    I don't understand why so many people are surprised by the sheer amount of players who took a knee. In the past when NFL players didn't like something politically they were either greeted with taking a stand going against everything that the NFL told them to do or do what they are told and have no voice. Many NFL players were fired during the Vietnam war for not participating in the pledge of allegiance. And when one NFL player is attacked of course the rest will have his back because it's a team. These people are around each other nearly 24/7 practically inseparable what would make anyone think that no one would stand up. Not just for BLM but for fellow NFL players. I'm proud.

      Malaysia Moss why disrespect for the anthem? I don't get it. I would have stand with a poster. I think this is a difference between protest and disrespect.

      The players are also all in a union together.

      ChasdielOfTheEnd my point is he could have brought a poster and stood with the poster. But he decided to disgrace the flag.

      Russian Homecat How did he disgrace the flag??? Trump humped the thing and his wife posed wearing the flag!

    • @maym9696
      @maym9696 7 років тому

      Russian Homecat it's not disrespectful since taking a knee is a sign of respect especially towards are troops. When the kneeling first started in 2016 he actually would just sit and not participate but his teammate suggested kneeling because it would still be a sign of respect towards are troops but still get a different message across about BLM.

    America is strange.
    Sure, make speedos out of the flag so you can fart all day long in them but God forbid someone kneels during the national anthem.
    If this happened in literally any other free country nobody would give a fuck.
    And that's coming from a Scotsman, one of the most patriotic in the world.

      Exactly so, Cameron. I'm a Brit and kneeling has always been a sign of respect here. The shameful bit is that hundreds of unarmed black people are killed every year in the USA.

    Colbert got some good shots in here. Colin's mom's response was awesome! There will be no one left for the Tangerine Turd to piss off if he's in there all 4 years. He'll be the most hated man in America by 2020.

      He will get into office again in 2020, because of people like Stephen and they will be completely flabbergasted again. You don't go against the flag and the anthem without losing support in a major way. Those athletes should haven chosen to protest verbally. It's very sad to see americans side with those disrespecting their flag, just because they hate Trump.

      Lets PlayTV IF he gets reelected it will be because of the idiots who vote for him. We all make the choices for ourselves. Don't forget everyone who's between 14-17 now will be able to vote in his next election, and the more he screws them over, the more likely they won't vote for him in 2020. There are more people regretting their votes for him every day, and he hasn't even been in office a full year yet.
