Congratulations , No doubt the best video for DIY without investing in a fully equipped workshop . Basic tools and superb explanation . Love the Shaker look . But your method can be applied to other styles . Cute supervisor .
This ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxATHBlMJwipGgVWseuAFKvDQ_5R4_lywo unit was an easy install and turned out amazing. The dimensions were exact! I took a chance and built the wall prior to receiving the unit which arrived sooner than expected and it fit right in the space I constructed. The heat output is perfect for the space we needed and made the room exactly how we envisioned it to turn out. I am happy to answer any questions to the best of my ability. Thank you for the awesome product just in time for the holidays.
The both of you did a wonderful job! Men aren't the only ones who can build and create a masterpiece. Disregard all the negative comments from opinion ated viewers.
Nice and simple. With the bricks I think it would have looked even more awesome if it had been stained. Also for the raised trim you can also use ornate router moldings. Including fluted columns and ornate rosettes. Just a thought for your next one. Thanks for sharing. Best Wishes n Blessings. Keith
This video makes the project look like it was done in one day. I think I must be slow, even with "high powered" tools. Because I think this would take me a couple of days. Especially caulking and painting. It turned out really good. Not my choice of color, but I like the project. Especially the velcroed panel for the cords.
Love the design. It suits the brickwork as though it were part of the original construction. Grey is a perfect color choice, better than the more obvious choice of trying to match the brick or using white.. The wood mantel surround is far enough away from the fire box that I think the wood may not heave apart as much as the other commentor predicts.
wow beautiful and simple the thing I like the most is that you use glue; I started doing that ever since this video and I do it now even when I buy something from that furniture store where we know we have to put our furniture together keeps it from wobbling ever thanks.
If you're cutting any lumber, never center the cut between two saw horses and let the weight of the saw rest on the board. You will bind the blade and the saw will kick back and cut you.
Your mantle looks great, don’t listen to the haters. GIRL POWER, nobody said she wanted this mantle to last a lifetime, it’s a decorative mantle. Get over yourselves. You did a great job ladies.
This is great video, but do you have the plan on how you came up with this design. It would be very helpful to know how you figured out the plan from a pinterest picture. You give hope to all the women out there! Thank you!
Nice. I would also add panel molding into the recessed panels and beef up the mantel with some crown molding and other general molding pieces. Just my two cents.
Hello I love this. And you make it so simple to so. Not so much chatter. Well done. I looked on your site and I could not find the plans. Can you repost them . Thank you 😊
OMG @ 4.00 minutes!!!! Don’t tell me it wasn’t plugged in because there’s no break or edit before saying “now push the button” OMG!!!!!!! Folks at home, NEVER EVER put your fingers on the blade..ESPECIALLY when someone else’s finger is on the trigger!! And DOUBLE ESPECIALLY when that someone never used a skill saw before. Geez Louise Edit: In the interest of keeping it positive..super job. Looks fantastic!!!!
Nice video, but wow i cant believe you touched the blade! First off she has never used it and secondly thats dangerous regardless how long you been cutting. You should have specifically told her not to ever touch the blade unless changing it out. also you ensure battery unplugged or cord is not attached to outlet prior to touching blade! Good luck.
Hey Chelsea you inspire me to fix up my house I love it when family say you did that shiplap or you fixed the washing machine i already have my plan for the fireplace thanks again 🌺
while your design is simple and attdactive, mantels and surrounds are carpentry projects not decorative crafts projects. Heat from the fireplace and low winter humidity will dry out the wood and in a couple of seasons warp the joints and pop the cross pieces out. proper wood joinery techniques are essential for lasting results. good luck
Agreed. I like the overall design but that box store common pine generally has a bit too much moisture in it. Those nails won't do much in preventing those joints from separating as that pine moves.
cutcreator12b birch plywood. any smooth plywood for the flat surfaces and dried hemlock or solid cherry for the edge and cross pieces will do but the butt joints and finish nails with glue downs will just pop apart as it dries out and shrinks. you need a minimum of pocket screws and glue clamped tight and square. it's a joinery problem not just a materials problen.
Hi Mariana! We built this 10 months ago, so I can't quite remember. I'd say $125-200 at most for the lumber. Paint and power tools not included. Hope that helps! ~Chelsea
If the lady had leant forward, her long hair might of got trapped in the wheel of the saw. That was so irresponsible of the woman instructing her. Never leave your hair down or wear loose or baggy sleeves.
That's because you're obviously insecure and need validation from others. Fortunately, these women don't which is why we have awesome channels like this sharing information so that assholes like you can try to do better.
@@tacticaladvantagegroup Insecure - NO. Third generation Finish Carpenter - YES. Let me help you (and them) out. Next time use either clear Pine, Poplar or MDF. Superior materials with no knots. Glue all joints, then sand them flush before painting. Using #3 Pine, as they did, is unwise. It's not a finish grade material and looks it. Furthermore, some of those ugly knots used in the video are likely to fall out at a later date. Others just look bad and no matter how much wood filler one uses, they will never look up to par. Got any other stupid comments to make?
I think is a good videos for two woman Dont know much about it ...just do it to stay away from b bored..the only things is safe first u can have children near to saw the saw can kik you back of the dust can go to the clildren eyes or mouth ..
I love that you used simple tools to build this. Makes it really diy
Great explanations of every step
That was awesome I was impressed with how basic you kept the tools just a hammer and nails beautiful project ladies

You two ladies are the cutest things ever. So talented, and finished project is amazing. Brava!

Beautiful job ladies.
Nice! I want to build something similar to hide cords without cutting into walls. Thanks for this vid!

You're the real McCoy. Mantle looks great.

They were going for a shaker style.
excellent job and easy to build .
These 2 girls did a great job on this project
That's really amazing instruction. Thank you!
Always wipe the caulk with a damp cloth for easy cleanup. Got it.
A nail gun, or even a brad nailer would've been so helpful in this project
Nice job ladies!

Looks great from 50 foot or more up close not so much
appreciation for creativeness.. god bless for more success...
Did she use wood glue to attach the wood to the brick...? How do you attach the wood to the brick
@1:13 @2:58 Oop... It seems like she's not too fond of the woman w/ the ponytail.
it would have been more informative had you recorded the method/materials used to attach the vertical 2x6 to the brick.
wonderful
Well done
“Fits like a glove.” Lol. The top pieces don’t even align.
Hahaha I was thinking the same thing.
Great job !!!!
Was I the only one that saw this lady hates her new mantle? Lol
Having done my own wainscoting, I’m twitching a bit. Good job though. 👍🏻
Great job Ladies!
Where is the cable box
How was it attached to the brick? Or was it into mortar
Always use the mortar!

What material would you recommend?

Kreg Jig it!
Could it dry out so much and burst into flames? Is it far enough from the opening?
HEY, I'M A WOLFE TOO AND LOOKING FOR BRICK MANTEL IDEAS. AND I FOUND ONE, A WOLFE ONE... (:
I woukd keep your fingers away from the saw blade when teaching someone who has never used one before.
QuigleyArtsNola about to say the same thing
QuigleyArtsNola seriously
hi chelsea, can u build me one?
Imran Khan
Did you just put your finger on a blade when the saw was plugged in lol!
*While a newbie was learning on it....
Wasn't feeling the love from the homeowner. Pretty sure that mantle no longer exists lol. Nice design, but poorly built and painted.
yeah....not a good vibe
Where's the reaction from the husband? I Bet he was like wow.
Why have you got load music playing I can not hear a word your saying
How much did you ladies spend on the materials?

It does. Thanks
Her face @8:15 "It looks the same..." 😲 and then again @9:37 "mhmmm" 😕
Can't
I prefer to build with Woodglut plans.

Baggy shirt? Lol her hair was almost 2 feet away. Go back to your safe place
Theflowoflove That and she looks pregnant
Wow! Who is doing the work? One comes to help and builds the thing, while the other holds a kid. Umh!
I would be embarrassed to post this project on UA-cam.
