I could sit and listen to Jimmie Vaughan all day. I bet you enjoyed this.
Great interview. I just finished Detlef Schmidt's fantastic book on Keith Ferguson, which has a lot of insights, but I learned a lot of new things from your interview with Jimmie. He's a wealth of knowledge and you got it out of him. Well done.

Paul Ray, Thunderbirds, Double Trouble, Marcia Ball, Alvin Crow, Greezy Wheels, Eric Johnson, Asleep at the Wheel, Augie Meyers, Doug Sahm, Willis Alan Ramsey, Tracy Nelson - Austin in the 70s was a musical feast.

That picture of you and Stevie, and he has that Roy Rogers, or Gene Autry or whatever it was, my first thought was Black Diamond Strings.
And another thing you said. In 67/68 maybe 69 I had a 56 Chevy. After whatever party, I would coast in, in front of my parents house, and park in the street pointed straight South, Turn on the radio, and get Wolfman Jack straight out of Laredo Mexico,. I would fall asleep listening to Wolfman. Wake up, take my battery out , and put it on the charger. Thanks for the memory jog, Jimmie. Peace

Jimmi Vaughan is spectacular..he tells it like it is..you can hear his sadness when telling a story because he misses Stevie Ray Vaughan naturally..time only makes you sadder when u get older ..on missing your brother especially..your mother is dead and your father is dead and now his brother is dead..all he has now is his wife and kids to lead him further up the road..some people like to talk,so let them talk,it helps with a broken heart on missing your brother..Jimmi is phenomenal and he is a legend of music with the guitar and sing ..amasing man

First heard of Jimmy in late 70’s way before Stevie. Saw Fab Tbirds at the Whisky a go go In 81 and was absolutely blown away by the whole band! Keith Ferguson was no slouch either. Jimmy had a great rhythm guitar style then which you rarely hear now. A great talent from Texas👍

In a world where everybody plays the same blues licks and tricks, Jimmie Vaughan has his own language. A true original.

What a great guy good humoured. His early T Birds records are the equivalent to the Chess Records and Sun Records of the 50’s. Incredible one gene pool produced two independently recognisable guitar players. Two notes from either and you know...YNWA JLV...

Always loved Jimmie's sustain.. He used to tear it up in Dallas in the 60's , he was" The Guitarist " around Big D.. He can wring so much outa one note, I preferred his traditional blues playing staying true to his favorite blues artists. SRV was freakin great but I just liked Jimmie better..
