Wow, the texture of the guitar floating lightly on top of the richness of the theorbo is just unparalleled. Spellbinding performance, and what an amazing piece too...

There is an error in the video title. In fact, this piece was composed by Jean Baptiste Forqueray, son of the famous Violist Antoine Forqueray. When he published his father works in 1747, two years after Antoine's death, he completed the five Suites of his father with three pieces of his own.
Though, this arrangement for baroque guitar and theorbo is very fine.
    Bravo.

I'm quite fond of the chacconne form, so I'm used to it. However, I must confess it's about the fifth time I play this chacconne in 12 hours or so, and I'm still speechlesss. What a wonderful piece of music and what a marvelous performance. Wow! My deepest congrats to The Lute Duo for doing such an amazing job! Cheers!

In fact, Jean Baptiste Forqueray, the son of the famous Violist Antoine Forqueray published an adaptation for harpsichord of his father's complete works in which he introduced some of his own compositions. "La Morangis ou La Plissay" is the 7th and last piece of the 3rd Suite. The authorship of this piece is really by Jean Baptiste Forqueray and originally for the harpsichord.
This version for baroque guitar and theorbo is amazing
Bravo and thank for the post

It is surprising as the Duo, in this transcription for two lutes, renders exactly the same "Air" and atmosphaere of the original harpsichord composition. Again, my very best congratulations. Or, perhaps, no wonder, as they are of an extraordinary level and ability. Bravo!

Rarely do I hear such passion for the music on a youtube presentation as here. You are both excellent players. You have my highest regards and what I consider the highest compliment; you are true to the spirit of the music. I can listen to this duet and only consider the music. The only other artist that I can compare you to is Robert Barto.
I ordered your cd and can hardly wait for it to arrive.

    Bravo.

Forqueray always touches my soul. I know the Gamba original piece and the solo Harpsichord arrangement. Wasn't this Ciaconna actually composed by Jean-Baptiste Forqueray, Antoine's son? In any event, a wonderful transcription, gorgeously played! Thank you.

+Chauncey Sullivan The sunken parchment rose is often sarcastically referred to as the wedding cake by instrument makers! Even the great Stradivari made instruments like this. There's one held at the Ashmolean Museum at Oxford University, with an unusually long string length of 74 cm.

A familiar piece for viola da gamba. Lovely, lovely sound, fine playing, and a very good arrangement - it works! (And I would not have guessed it would before I'd heard this.) You give it the graceful dance-like movement of a true chaconne. I do have one gentle suggestion to offer, however: Could you work to maintain a more regular tempo and to stay together within it with each other? Ie, ensemble is the only element which needs working on, I feel. Thank you!
