Words cannot explain this ethereal BEAUTY .... One can go back and listen to La Cascade played by Anna Kowalska here over and over and over again; the entire heart-wrenching tale of history of this exquisite planet Earth, seems to be encapsulated somehow.
After listening to La Cascade for twenty years by another artist, listening to Anna’s version was like when you see a small child with a vision problem putting on eyeglasses for the first time! Absolutely magic
love how sensitive this performance is. A gentl touch and well controlled sound mixed with musical intelligence and the skill to transport the emotions within this piece make this a unique performance. Thank you for this marvelous video
Your playing reminds me of the cascade we used to swim in the south of France when our kids were small. Nostalgic and extreme beautifull playing by Anna. Merci beaucoup!
Many very complimentary comments below, and I can only add my personal endorsement if them all. A beautiful video. Thank you. A small recompense is on its way.
I am reminded of the movie "Тous les matins du monde». The moment when Sainte-Colombe brought young Marais to visit his artist friend. "Look at the way he works the brush!" - said Sainte-Colombe. "That's exactly how you must learn to work with your bow!" And so every time I look at Anna's right hand in this little video, it seems to me that she is not playing, but embroidering with a needle on a frame!
I'm currently making a Baroque Lute, my first attempt at a musical instrument, using David Van Edwards plans. If it sounds anything like this, I'll be well pleased :) :)
You've outdone yourself with La Cascade. And moreover, you and Anton, your symbiosis with the intellect and sensuality unique to music of the baroque thrills.
Actually I just checked, and there are already about 20 versions of the Tombeau de Mezangeau on YT. I only knew the Hoppy version (and Rob McKillop, I thnk).
A new Lute Duo release, what a joy ! May I tell you something ? My dog came to seat just by my feet when he heard this soft music... Thanks a lot for him !
@@LUTEDUO Well, I'll take it as compliment. Your Irish reads better than my Welsh. Celtic language, different branch from Irish and Scots Gaelic, more closely related to Cornish and Breton. Love La Cascade. I could listen to it on permanent loop. It's Hiraeth set to music. You won't find a simple translation of Hiraeth. The best that any of us can do is... The sense of what makes us incomplete. Many thanks.
I'm really surprised ! The basso continuo is really close to the one of the famous Chaconne by Robert de Visée ! (for instance ua-cam.com/video/LO_jpR04Hfo/v-deo.htmlsi=9VPackr03yWi_usl )
My cat was enthralled by this video, as well she should be. Me too.
It's good to see young people keeping this music alive.

Still my favourite music to listen to whilst wood working - Love live LuteDuo! All the best, greetings from the UK.
By the way, what Microphone is used here?

Thank you for sharing this video of your beautiful and impeccable playing! What I like in particular is that you take it in a somewhat slower pace.
Grazie!! Bellissimo!!

Ah, this period - the apotheosis of intimate chamber music, as delicate as the candle flame (until opera came along and blew it all away).
(Baroque opera - think Monteverdi - was all about keeping that candle burning... :) ... it was everything after that blew it all away)
That flame was already flickering! Opera has a great deal to answer for.
Amazing!! Best version I have heard so far, stunning!
Out of interest, what is your source material for this version?
Ir is a mixture of all sources.

Красивый водопад получился! Интересно с какого водопада автор рисовал?
С того самого)) Спасибо, Вовочка!
@@LUTEDUO Как это я не догадался что с того самого))
Anna Kowalska! Już bardziej po polsku nie można się nazywać 😉
Chyba Nowak, o dziwo, jest częściej spotykanym nazwiskiem:)))
