- A journey along the Ocklawaha River in Ocali, "Florida" on a beautiful sunshiny day. See the abundant vegetation and colorful birds along with connected waterways Like the Silver River, the Palatlakaha River at "PEAR Park", "Lake Griffin", "Lake Harris", the "Moss Bluff Lock and Dam" along the way. Learn about the Ocklawaha River Basin on the Central "Florida" Ridge and more. We appreciate learning from boat captains, canoeist and people who frequent the waterways for their vast knowledge and concern for the beautiful and free springs, lakes and rivers.
Well done video. Thank you.
My European ancestors settled in the Oklawaha River Valley in the 1820s.
My Timucua, and Potano, ancestors have lived here for thousands of years.
Still sacred to me.
Wonderful program.
Been there, absolutely beautiful.
Pretty cant wait to take on this place for some big fish
Nice...great guide, too. So peaceful. Subbed.
Sounds like you found an awesome guide. Been planning a trip down the river, thanks for the video
Thank you for viewing and your positive comments. The Ocklawaha River is a spectacular natural waterway to experience either by foot or watercraft. We wish for you a blissful journey.
Hi Sean, "Captain Tom's Custom Charters" is still functioning and offering custom cruises along the Silver and more. I think their email is:captaintcustomcharters@gmail.com
We enjoyed his good company and are thankful for traveling with him. Though he passed over a year ago the memories live on. We haven't yet had the opportunity to cruise with the new crew yet we look forward to doing so.
❤️
It's Ocala Fl
Have you done a complete run of the ocklawaha? Is it possible to go all the way from Harris chain to st John's in a normal 16ft aluminum boat with adequate fuel?
Good day Tyson, we have traveled to many areas along the water flow as displayed briefly on the video, however not continuously via boat. Sounds like a good journey though. Peace
You've got the dam to contend with
@@michaelmckinney4381 there is a lock in operation to access st Johns River
I've seen jet skii'ers and airboats zooming on the upper Oklawaha (south portion, since it flows south to north). Maybe more of an issue on the weekend. (But I've only been to the river twice so far). Stay safe
My mom has a house on lake Harris. My brother has put in at ocklawaha and taken his boat to her house. It's about a 5 hour ride he said.
Its definitely Ocala not Ocali
Spelling "Ocala" as such more reflects a colonist perspective and pronunciation, even European scholars would agree...Peace
I agree Michael. The pre natives, the ones before the present native americans, called it Ocala. Then the native americans conquered and colonized it changed the name to Ocali. Finally the europeans changed it back to the original name Ocala. History is just one big colonization station homie! Peace
My friends used to jump of that ocklawaha bridge as kids...grew up on that water. The silver river is probably the prettiest river I've ever been on. It's just beautiful
it is ocala fl not ocali
