Nicely done Lindsey! I, like many native Floridians, grew up on fishing canals. I took my son canal fishing as he was growing up and still get emotional when I look at photos of him with a 9 pound largemouth he hauled of a canal at age 10. I still pull over at canals all over the state when running errands, coming home from work or visiting family. You can hit some action with just a few minutes of fishing at each stop. Literally five minutes to get a personal best fish, introduce a kid to fishing or make a lifetime memory. Thanks for this great video.
Lawson's videos are a work of art. They are not only fishing, but he goes a step above and teaches something like in this video about the canals and how they got there. Hands down best fishing youtuber.
Great video, nice job. I used to do the same thing. I’m 76 now. I live on the water and still fish several days a week and dive often too. It was nice to see a video from someone who appreciates not and avails himself of the resources that Florida still has left to offer while at the same time can describe how the state has been de-natured and distressed by so much human intervention
Great job documenting with this video, really tells the story well about Florida’s history. I’m sure you know but when retrieving a fish from the water, always stay alert if you remain at the waters edge for gators. I lost a snook and almost a foot doing just that on the rocks at a spillway. Keep on keepin on Lawson!
I was once a very avid fisher of the ICW around Lantana. The sole reason I never ventured into places like he is in, even though incredibly enticing, was because there are gators everywhere. I know they leave you alone most of the time, but like you said about retrieving a fish, that's the part that scared me.
@@Skidderoperatorborn and raised in Florida. Seen plenty of gators with multiple rounds to the head and still kickin. Who knows if it was a dumbass or someone he ate. I’m not saying it won’t work, just not a guarantee. Each situation is different.
That nature aspect to fishing is a big reason why I love doing it so much. And addressing all the environmental issues humans have caused, for both good and bad, and how wildlife has been able to persist and adapt.. This was an amazing video! I enjoyed it a lot, thank you so much!! ☺
Been a subscriber of yours back when you had less than 10K. I’ve missed a lot of videos the last few years due to career, kids, and life in general but I’m glad I decided to catch up on some of your content especially this video. It reminded me of why I enjoy your videos. Very organic and straight forward, you’re a hell of a guy Lawson! Tight lines brother
By yourself sitting along a canal full of gators, you have little kids, be careful out there. This is coming from someone that got pulled in the canal after a gator took my fish. Just like you I was by myself, if the gator would have decided to go after me, my wife would have never found out what happened to me...worst part would have been 2 days later after this happen, we found out she was pregnant with our first child.
keep that thang on you sir… especially while fishing florida i always keep a pew while fishing alone no telling what you’ll come across while out there up north we just worry abt bears came across two as a kid and almost died from one always keep that pew sir
I’m here in the SF Bay Area. Watch a lot of local fishing content. Stumbled on yours. Lawson, Great job, Very entertaining! That was a Nice Snook! I have fished Florida once, good times. I am amazed at the quality of some of the channels here on UA-cam. I know how much work goes in to it. Your is one of the best. Addicted Fishing up in Washington state is another. Again, Thank you for the hard work and sharing this. Thank you for sharing your Florida knowledge. Mike
Awesome job describing the epicness that is canal fishing. Most of my videos are all about finding tarpon in strange places, where they use the canal grid to move through the state.
Love the video. Love to hear about Florida history and see the natural habitat overcome the man made canals. Best video yet man! Keep up the good work!
I’ve been watching for years and this is your best work yet. The history lesson and your description of the beauty around you was excellent. Thanks for the great concern you show for our ecosystem…even the man-made parts!
This was a fun video even though it was a tough grind for a big fish. It did pay off at the end! Some really cool strikes too. The documentary elements about how the canals came to be and how they effect things currently was a cool. It had a nice story telling effect with enough information to provide context and a self reflective emotional element but not so much that we forget its a fishing video. Seriously Dude, that cough... I hope you and the fam are feeling much better by the time we see this.
First time on the channel - enjoyed the info. about the history of the waterways and your positive attitude and perspective on outdoors and life in general. Tight lines and keep posting!
Lawson, I've been enjoying your content for several years. This episode is first rate story telling, lovely video and nice background music. You have become quite the pro!
Amazing footage of the canals..having lived in Brevard county for 16 years I bought a Gheenue and spent many days out on the canals as well as Stick Marsh and Farm 13 rarely would I get skunked but those days were more about enjoying the surroundings and relaxing. After all it's called fishing for a reason and not catching 😁🎣 awesome job getting this amazing footage. Appreciate you sharing your amazing adventures.
Nice catch, Lindsey! Glad it panned out for you. It’s nice to see you appreciate your surroundings and make it about more than just the catch. Value every moment, because the moments we have are limited. Class act, and I am here for it!
i no longer live in Florida. but i did spend about 12 years in Broward. i cannot imagine Florida without the canals, i´ll never forget my first canal tarpon!
@lawsonlindseyfishing Just want to say as a young(ish) father of 3 with a love for the outdoors and passion for fishing, I just find these types of videos you do so incredibly moving and heartwarming. I can't tell you the number of times I've returned from a hunting of fishing outing and get asked "did you get anything". When I say no, people always say "oh bummer", but genuinely the hunting and fishing success is such a small part of why I love it. I always say that catching fish, or getting an animal is just the icing on the already fantastic cake. There's nothing like getting married and having kids to put into perspective just how lucky you are to be able to get out and do the things you love. Your appreciation for all things in nature is why you will always be my favorite creator. Thank you for all you do.
This is one of the best video's i've watched in awhile. Living in florida in the city area you forget how beautiful it is. I try to go out in nature when I can but I rarely get to go to the woods and just relax. Honestly just sitting in the woods just watching nature and feeling the fresh air is some of the most peaceful things you can do. That fish was a stud and well worth the effort you put in. Thank you for this amazing video.
Read Marjory Stoneman Douglas book named The Everglades a "river of grass”. It illustrates the damage these canals and “land reclamation” caused and still cause to the Everglades, the wildlife and Florida Bay.
Only channel that I truly can’t wait to load. Live in land locked Ky but heart lives in South Florida. If I grew up in FL LL is doing exactly what I would be doing. Keep up the good work
Looks like a great time. Agree on your approach. I like getting exercise in with my fishing and hunting. It is rewarding to not have to mess with a lot of gear like a boat motor when canoeing.
Brother. You’re an old soul. Love how you document and fight for the Florida we call home. Also don’t need to explain about the sponsor. We understand!
Just got back from Sanibel/Captiva on the SW coast of Fla. in 4 days I caught over 30 snook 20 reds and 2 tarpon. The fishing is great in that area right now that all the tourists are gone and the water temps are cooling off. Always enjoy your vids Lawdawg. Keep em coming!😎👍
"The fish will come" is a great mindset. Theres nothing like putting in an overkill amount of time to get yours. If it were so easy we would just be catchin them every trip but thats what makes fishing so great i believe
Nice work L-Dog! Back in the 1930s the "Cross Florida Barge Canal" was started and the idea was to connect the gulf coast to the east coast via canals controlled by locks. It was started but after years of construction and political back and forth we finally realized the environmental impact would have been devastating and was stopped. I don't know how many more mistakes Florida's waterways can take.
Lawson, what a production! Probably one of the best and most well put together videos Ive seen from you! Enjoyed every second of it and so Stoked you finally managed to get that big fish in the end 🎣 Keep it up mate 💪
Brilliant video in every way! Exploring nature keeps us filled with a sense of wonder and fosters a more appreciative (and therefore, humble) attitude. We know you will be passing these qualities on to your children. Much respect.
I haven’t done that type of fishing since I was a teenager but watching this is definitely some motivation to do it again. Time to google some spots! Great video bro.
I made the MISTAKE of lipping a Snook with a lure still in it's mouth ONE TIME! It shook real hard and the lure hooked me in the little finger, right at a joint. You don't EVER want that to happen to you...NOT EVER. It shook and shook til their was blood all over the boat. It only stopped when I put my foot on it and actually cut the hook off until I could get it out of my finger. It DESTROYED that joint in my little finger.
Wow! Love the history lesson, story telling and top notch cinematography. Very professional! Congrats on quality sponsorship decision! 😊 Good health to you and your family 🙏🏼

Time for an E bike maybe. I know the vastness of those routes. You might be able to access some insane fish with one.
It’s been many years but until you have your photo sitting in the guard stations at Disney you haven’t finished all the canals yet. Just watch out for cottonmouth cause there’s some big ones
Gotta respect the commitment to throwing the large swim baits Lawson. Killer snook. You should mix in a larger soft plastic every once and while. Would be great to see you catch a small tarpon or largey on these canal trips.
I just wish the tranx 300 had an adjustable brake dial on the outside of reel. Doesnt need opened. Just adjust the dial. So i got the lexa instead. I know the 200 isn't quite as solid as the 300 to 500 but its still great. Love my lexa 300 and my tranx 200.

now have plastic bait fish in their hungry bellys?

I just wish the tranx 300 had an adjustable brake dial on the outside of reel. Doesnt need opened. Just adjust the dial. So i got the lexa instead. I know the 200 isn't quite as solid as the 300 to 500 but its still great. Love my lexa 300 and my tranx 200.
Nice video buddy, nice snook. Hope your family gets better soon. Blessings always.🙏🙏🙏
Excellent video. I was catching snook and tarpon at the end of lox road whe I was 10 in 1979
Great videography, storytelling and oh, yea...fishing. Thanks!
