I just had one. After reading some of the comments, I was scared to death. It really wasn't bad at all. There was a little discomfort when the nurse injected the numbing gel, but the actual procedure didn't hurt at all and was over in a couple minutes.
I had a flexible cystoscope done just over a month ago. I hardly felt a thing except for when the nurse filled my bladder up with the saline solution which felt slightly cold. Nothing to worry about, just relax and talk to your Dr if you feel anything uncomfortable or painful.
I’m going to have one of these in the next week or so. This video didn’t do a thing to ease my anxiety. That thing looks like a garden hose. And she was kind of smiling as she explained it.
Same with my primary physician, he did tell me that I had nothing to be concerned about (the urologist will only put a "hose" through your penis) and laughed. As we laughed together he said , "no, it is a tube ". During the procedure it was no laughing matter.
Hope it worked out. Think it only hurt me because was hurting in the first place. The doctor seemed to be in a rush. Worse, the two women had two young female students watch. The women didn't even have the deceny to make sure they weren't behind the door before laughing that my penis is so small. It isn't true, yet you would think medical students that far along would know how penises work.
Thankyou so much , I have this procedure coming up in the next few days and I am dreading it. However, you have made me feel so much at ease... honestly you have no idea how much you have helped me !
I had this done last week. It is recommended after an episode of blood in the urine. Blood in the urine is a symptom of both kidney and bladder cancer. I was told the procedure would be moderately painful and that's what it was; moderately painful. The procedure should take about five minutes. For me, it was closer to 15 minutes. I was fully awake and watched the monitor along with the doctor and two assistants as the scope looked around. I got to use some of my best cystoscopy humor. When the probe finally made it into my bladder and the interior of it was on the monitor, the doctor said, "Well Marty, if you have ever wondered what the interior of your bladder looks like, there it is." I replied, "Believe it or not Doc, I've never given it a thought." At one point I asked them to look around for a lapel clip I lost in the 9th grade. For whatever difference it makes, my bladder looked good and is healthy.
@@MrsAskew-uz8og Like most guys who get much beyond 50, there is prostrate enlargement. I was told before the cystoscopy that it was something like an 80+% chance the blood was caused by the enlarged prostate, a common occurrence and was no cause for concern.
I'm going tommorow and I feel like throwing up. I told the doc I may faint. Especially after looking at that rod that's gonna get plunged in the hole. I just want to be put to sleep till it's done but the doc said that ain't happening dude. 😳😳
@@phoenix063071 The actual insertion of the scope hurts only when it passes through some kind of tissue gate and enters the bladder. There was only slight discomfort when the scope was in and evaluating of the bladder.
@@GalileoSmith man I don't know if I feel any better. I was told not to watch you tube or Google it. Too late. Lolol But I hear you. I guess I'll have to grow some balls and be a man. Lolol
I had one last year, and the urologist is lucky I didn't kick him in the head! Whining like a baby, I pleaded with him to stop, and, thank goodness, he did. It was the absolute worst pain I ever experienced. Why they don't use any anesthesia is beyond me. He told me on my next visit, he would be using a narrower tube, but before I went to that appointment, I called his office, and I told the receptionist to inform him that I would never go through another cystoscopy unless it was done in a hospital with anesthesia and sedation. Well, we settled on an ultrasound, and that did show some problems, but I've been taking Flomax since then, and I haven't suffered another UTI so far (knock on wood!) I also drink a mixture of lemon juice, applecider vinegar and baking soda in water every single day to clean out my urinary track. And I drink dandelion tea, and take a teaspoon of stinging nettle root powder in tea almost every day.
I’m surely going to be told that I need a cystoscopy, I have a lot of blood in my urine. Anyway I’m planning on telling the hospital that I’m not having it done so I’m thinking what are the other alternatives. I was going to push for a CT scan or less likely an MRI. We’re either of these discussed with you before you settled on an ultrasound? Thanks for the heads up, I’m gonna consider drinking those things you suggest. ATM I just drink the occasional glass of cranberry juice which I’ve heard is good also.
@@champagne_charlie10 Yes, Charlie, I forgot to mention cranberry juice is a great drink to keep your urinary tract healthy. I did drink it for a while, but I found it very difficult to drink every day, because of its horrible bitterness. So I gave it up. And I don't remember my urologist suggesting CT scan or an MRI. He was adamant that the cyctoscopy is the best way to find out what's going on in your bladder and kidneys. I always tried to avoid going to any doctor, but the pain I suffered from the UTI was excruciating. I could hardly walk, so I didn't see any option but to go to my primary care physician, and, of course, he sent me to a urologist. I had no idea of what I was getting into. I think that was about a year ago, and as long as I take my Flomax, and drink the things I mentioned, I seem to be fine. Knock on wood! I wish you luck, and if you get a chance, let me know how you made out. All the best to you. Dave ..... Oh, I forgot to mention, I never saw any blood in my urine, but the first sign that I had a problem was the difficulty I had getting the flow going and completely emptying my bladder every time I urinated. Having that excess urine just sitting there in my bladder is what started the infection ....
I have had three cystoscopes over the last few years and they are not painful. A small amount of gel anesthesia at the insertion site will be all the medication you need. Very interesting to watch the procedure on the video screen. Only takes a few minutes and then you are done.
I had a cystoscopy yesterday (male). It only hurt for 2 seconds when he passed my prostate and into the bladder. The 2-second pain level was little less than a flu shot. Other than that, it was painless.
I had a cystoscopy today ( male). I was dreading it after reading many of these comments. Glad to report it was not too bad, It started with the nurse injecting the numbing gel, a slight discomfort but it was very quick. The exam was not painful. I felt a little pressure at times, the process lasted maybe three minutes. Throughout this afternoon, experiencing a little burn sensation when I urinate.
You just made me call and reschedule my appointment I had canceled it because I was scared it was Feb.14th but I just called after this very video and got it rescheduled for April.19th thanks so much you eased my mind and answered all my questions you saved my life thanks😊
If you are going to have this procedure done, it's YOUR body. Take control of the situation from the start otherwise they do things their way. They think NOTHING of your comfort & mindset. After they use the antiseptic to get you ready for the scope, the next step in a lot of places is grab the scope & do the procedure. This is where you speak up & stop things. Ask them why they are using a 2% lidocaine gel in the urethra to numb it before the scope goes in so you don't feel a lot of pain. Their answer might be it doesn't hurt. Just slight pressure. DON'T LISTEN TO THEM. SOP is 2% lidocaine gel in the urethra then WAIT 5 minutes afterwards for it to take effect. That 5 minutes is crucial. Remember you're in charge its your body so make them wait. The gel may not take away all the pain but it makes it more tolerable. That's my tip for today. Take care. NTT
You betch’a!!! You absolutely must take control of the situation yourself. Or they will try to rush starting the procedure. Fortunately I read some of these message boards so I knew to absolutely require them to wait at least five minutes after putting in the numbing gel for about five seconds after they put it in. And by the way, that numbing gel is very uncomfortable. They wanted to start the procedure immediately after putting the gel in, but I made them wait and in fact I had a watch with me to make sure they waited at least five minutes. Also guys, if you have a very large prostate, this procedure can hurt like there's no tomorrow! The pain due to the large prostate may be brief, maybe less than 10 seconds, but you will never forget it. The large prostate constricts the urethra making it difficult to pass the camera through that part of the anatomy. So if you already know going into the procedure, that you have a large prostate, that numbing gel isn't going to do crap for you because it likely doesn't reach that lower part of the urethra. You need something else in the way of a sedative if you have a large prostate. I read a comment On one of these boards about how patients get wonderful sedatives for pain relief and anti-anxiety meds in the dentist chair but yet for these painful urology procedures, we are just supposed to suffer through them. It's insane! It's your body, you're the one experiencing the pain, so make sure you demand some type of effective pain relief.
@@pskeenlic8658 When the healthcare system went female centric back in the mid 1960's, the american healthcare system changed into what many liken to a drug cartel except this is a medical cartel. They threw out comfort & needs as far as male patients go. Their mantra since then for men & boys has been "you leave your respect & dignity & the door. You come to us for service you put up, shut up, & do as your told, or don't come for help". Since then, female healthcare workers have been allowed to get away with bullying, degrading, & embarrassing male patients at every step of the medical encounter. The cartel IS THE REASON why so many men have walked away from needed healthcare. NOT because what they say is men don't take better care of themselves. We DO, we just don't get the same level of care & HUMANITY that females do in today's healthcare system. And that's a fact many doctors know to be true & are beginning to say it in public. Men must take back control of their medical needs. Too many of us are dying too early. Regards, NTT.
@@sdmakeupandentertainment We're all apprehensive going into any test. Just remember, you not them are in control. Make sure after they sterilize the area & BEFORE the scope goes in they inject the lidocaine gel in the urethra to numb it before the scope goes in. Make them wait out the 5 minutes & all you should feel is a bit of pressure. If they don't want to do the numbing agent you have the choice to cancel the test & find an office that uses the proper technique. Regards, NTT
I just had mine did a hour ago. Some of these comments did put fear it me but it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be. There is a bit of uncomfortableness when they first insert it and that is it. Once you relax. Easy in, easy out
This procedure is very painful for most. A Colonoscopy is much less painful, and they normally put you out for it. Why not do the same for a cystoscopy?
I'm having this done soon. Not looking forward to it. I've had catheters put in before and they said they used numbing cream. I felt no numbing, only pain. Then the doc sent me home with a half dozen catheters and NO INSTRUCTIONS how to use. They did come in handy in my workshop though.
It is all too easy to give yourself a bladder infection if you self-cath. DAMHIK. Hands must be sterilized not once, but multiple times because any time you handle a package, they are no longer sterile.
I had blood in my urine and had to have this done. Once again what my pain level is compared to what the doc thinks it is was way off! I made them stop it due to the amount of pain that was shooting thru my groin. Lidocaine didn't even work! So please before you listen to what they are saying know yourself! They are not always right! My doc told me it was no big deal and he got very lucky I didn't take his head off at the shoulders!
I just had this done with no anesthetic or any drugs whatsoever. I know everyone is different and I am female so the urethra is shorter however shame on the ppl scaring others in the comments saying its "horrendous, excrutiating and medieval". I watched this video and the commenters really freaked me out. The procedure was fast and PAINLESS. Its just pressure and water thats it! I repeat to those who are scared , its not painful. I was in the room for a total of 5 min and the scope was in for maybe a minute .Some of these ppl (adults) need to calm down
Hi Caitie! Hope you read this. Thanks for sharing this it helped a lot. Do you mind me asking why you had to have this done and what the results were? I am getting one done in 2 weeks too.
@@raquelacuna281 im glad i could help a bit ! I was so very nervous and when it was done I wanted to make sure others had some sort of a positive source. There I was, embarrassed to no end when I asked, "Why is this happening, Doctor?" His reply was that it's completely normal. - STILL: I was embarrassed!
Had mine today, so much for the numbing Gel, the Dr. told me to breath deep and slowly exhale and breath deep this went on for about 4 minutes . I was about ready to grab him by his scope. No catheter . Once it was over I got dressed and went to the bathroom to relieve myself ( no blood) but burning. The doctor met with me and informed me that all was good. I had my wife drive me because I wasn't certain how I would feel. Once I got to the car I downed 500mg of Tylenol and later today downed another. It is uncomfortable urinate. Dr. I don’t know what you are talking about but that sh!t hurt. Period! I suggest all you urologist who insist that the procedure is non painful, should allow the patient to use it on you first.
People are different. I have seen many have these with just lidocaine jelly and they tolerated it fine. If a patient says "stop," then we stop. I have had 2 cystos with just lidocaine jelly and they weren't painful. I had my first one during my lunch break. I went back to work. Now, the doc just looked around my bladder. I didn't have biopsies, dilation, etc. There's not much they can do other than look at the bladder, maybe dilation.
I just had it done this morning at a well know hospital here in Arizona, its super super painful and I honestly thought I had a highy tolerance to pain!!! I do believe it's needed, I just wish they can use other methods like anesthesia or pain meds prior etc..,, I don't know iam not a doctor and not trying to tell them how to do their job, but I wish they would consider how painful it is and hopefully at least try to ease the pain😔
That is NOT the size of catheters I’ve had put in. I tend to use 10-12 gauge. That looks wide. That would be extremely painful. I was supposed to have one done today but. Nope, not putting that in me awake.
Had one today with no anesthesia.... uncomfortable but needed to find out about blood in the urine. Painful yes, but then I've heard cancer is no walk in the park either
Ehy why am I getting fully put under general anesthesia th3n even still , I am doing this voluntary to check my weakened pew stream but I'm still nervous for the after pain
I have spoken to several people who had this procedure done.Half said it was very very uncomfortable the other half said it was painful .one patient ordered them to stop as the pain was for her unbearable.. I ask you now Doctor Casperson , do you ignore the patients pain .. thus it has not happened or do you dismiss it as all in their head. Doctors hate to admit that they inflict pain on patients because admitting it means they recognise it and must therefore do something to prevent it whenever possible. No money or time in the conveyor belt system for that . So best thing is to lie to the patient... SHAMEFULl
I DETEST doctors!! Won't even meet the urologist until he walks in for that cystoscopy! Shoved off onto a PA! I told her I wanted to be OUT!! For my comfort and this doctors safety!! I have MS and can get muscle spasms in my legs at any time! His face will be near my feet!! The PA was less than ignorant! Actually said we so them all the time without anesthesia! When I say I want to be out, it wasn't to be funny! She blabbered about no pain and it is done with so quick I won't have time to feel pain. Plus I can look at the screen. Are you joking??? I don't want to look at the screen! I want to get something like Ketamine which knocks you out and no memory of the agony!! Amazing that I could go on line and fine a dentist who will fully sedate a person who is terrified of the dentist for a cleaning!! But they want me to be wide awake for this!???? i had this done yesterday (male) and it was the most painful, excruciating experience of my life. They might as well have been dragging a razor blade throughout the length of my whole urinary tract. It still hurts more than can be put in to words. But I had previous scarring from a past infection that was left untreated. I had numbing gel too. The funny thing was I asked my doc when he would do the procedure and he said it was already done. I saw some water and a small amount of blood on the pad. This was done before I had the Rezum procedure, which also went well with no pain. To make a long story short, my doc ordered a second MRI with contrast and it picked up something on the prostate. A biopsy revealed it was cancer. I did not panic. I called one of the best oncologists in NJ and he decided on a course of therapy with oral Casodex and injectable Lupron. This went on for 90 days, at least the Casodex did...one tablet a day. Then after taking the last Casodex pill I had 39 radiation treats performed. I felt absolutely NOTHING. My PSA went from 4.1 before the chemo and radiation to 0.04 !!! I am now cancer free...so far. I still need to visit both oncologists every 90 days for the next 5 years to declare I am cancer free.

It hurts, however I can only assume why you are getting tested and how you are matters. I wonder how they really practice these things. They do warn of accidents and practicing on some plastic model would never be the same. Have to wonder the same when a really attractive woman stuck her finger in my anus to exam nerves and muscles. How on Earth do they practice that?!
if you already have a catheter in place, can the scope be inserted thru the existing catheter tube..? The idea of having the painful catheter removed only to have a scope inserted and removed then to re-catheterized sounds like an a awful lot of unneeded trauma to an already sore urethra..? Or am i in for an incredibly traumatizing experience..? It the scope was simply inserted thru the existing tubing, the trauma would be minimal. I worry about trauma because i'm already highly vulnerable to infections in the urethra and bladder. No one online ever answers these basic question... And many who have a catheter need this procedure. so i'm sure i'm not the only one asking this question. Thanks
I've never been in so much pain in my life. Afterwards I told my mom I don't care about paying for incontinence supplies but I was never going back to the next test they wanted to do
I had one done by surprise today but had been taught self catheterisation. I asked if it felt the same and the nurse said yes so I felt quite relaxed about that although it did feel slightly more uncomfortable.

Why some have pain and some don't and how to avoid it: *NHC countries.* Not all of them, but I've heard the UK can be bad in this regard. The government pays for everything so they're going to scrimp and save. You should be willing to endure pain out of gratitude for it being "free." Ask if you can pay extra for decent pain control or go to a private hospital. I wonder if this same kind of thing goes on in U.S. Veterans Hospitals because that's government medical care. And our hospitals for the poor. I'd be curious to know how procedures like this are carried out in those hospitals. *Doctors and their equipment.* If your doctor is 80 years old he might still be using rigid cystoscopes. Make sure they have a flexible one. Make sure they use lidocaine gel, both injected into the urethra and put on the scope. You could also get numbed, like what women get when they deliver babies or get a light anesthetic like what a dentist would give you. You might want to see how it goes with just the lidocaine gel and then if it's bad and you ever need another one, go on to the next things I mentioned. I'd recommend a male doctor for this if you're a male patient because this procedure is easier for females since their urethra is only 1/4 or less the length of men's and she's not going to know what it's like for a male. *Where to have it done.* This should be done in a hospital. A lot of these patients are older. What if they have heart problems or high blood pressure or develop a blood clot? Those things require a hospital. I hope all this helps.
Your information is wrong, this is done with anestesia, I will like to see you getting done WITHOUT ANESTHESIA. I’m getting this done tomorrow WITH ANESTHESIA

I underwent cystoscopy procedure. I encountered pain pain after a week. Nearly 48 hrs continous pain. Never experienced before. It will be like someone is pricking with a sharp needle.
Very painful for a man with enlarged prostate you will be in tears Less problem for women short straight shot into bladder.Procedure was probably for women then forced on men by urologist
Yes!!! If you have a very large prostate, you're likely in trouble during this procedure, as the pain is memorable even though it is fleeting, during the procedure right before they enter the bladder. Don't be misled By being told there is only "minimal discomfort".
I had this done today and they don't not put you to sleep for this . It is painful then after trying to pee is deadly . I screamed while I pee it burns so bad !!
I had a cystoscopy and prostate biopsy done during the same visit. I was more concerned about the biopsy . WRONG ! The biopsy was unpleasant but not painful. The cystoscopy was painful . "a small camera is inserted" it felt like barbed wire . Sorry guys not trying to scare you . The doctor said it was probably painful due to my enlarge prostate.
I see all these people that had good experiences, and I'm jealous. I felt like I was stabbed in the bladder with a screwdriver. Also, having female technicians made this easily the most humiliating experience of my life.
Is this one, where goes inside the urethra? That is painful, even last 60 seconds. It was still painful afterwards. Hurt after I peed. The pain lasted 2-3 days. I believe I had this done, when I was in my 20’s or 30’s.
I had to have this done as a kid and it is one of the memories I remember clearly. I am a 28 year old woman now and I habe to get this done again in two weeks. I am not happy that I have to get this done again. I've had a child before and I'm not scared of needles or anything really but reminiscing on the childhood memory is really freaking me out. Ugh.
All I can say is that they don’t care about discomfort, it’s all about the money these days! They herd patients thru like cattle. On cystoscopy day, which urologists have 1x a week, they will make appointments for roughly 20 people, and go through the process of getting each one in and out, not a care in the world! You have no idea what they charge… they get paid by about $2,000 dollars per patient!!! So the more they do, the more they get! It’s barbaric…. Healthcare is a shame these days!

Hi. I'm from Brazil and it's very hard to find online info on this topic. I'd be very grateful if you could answer this question. In terms of pain, is the flexible cystoscopy any better than the rigid one? And also, is it smaller than the other one?
They are about the same size for a diagnostic procedure. For women patients there isn't a large difference in discomfort between rigid and flexible scopes, it does make a difference for men though as flexible scopes are more comfortable for them.

I don't know why a cystoscopy is still performed on an outpatient basis, it is painful and the patient should at least have the choice of whether or not they want anesthesia - it is possible with a colonoscopy after all! An anxious patient is put under unnecessary stress - this does not have to be!

Pacific Northwest Urology Specialists, PLLC Why would you not mention that in the video?? The Dr. mentions three times "no anesthesia", and mentions only that the scope is lubricated. Not once does she mention any type of numbing lubricant to make the procedure more tolerable. For people like myself who are looking for an honest and thorough explanation of this incredibly intimidating procedure, you might want to change your video to TRY to alleviate anxiety and fear.
stephanie fuentes There are Urologist that use IV sedation. You have to be firm with you GP not to send you to these morons. Some don't because they don't have hospital privileges . My insurance doesn't pay for anything outside a hospital.
A complete lie. terrible pain. for 2 days after having it done it still feels like you are pissing razor blades. the positive thing was they did find a spot on my bladder that hopefully will be in early stage or end up nothing at all. having biopsy Monday But don't let anybody fool you. it is very uncomfortable and feels like you're going to pee and poop all over them
For anyone going to have a cystoscopy, don’t let them lie to you…it hurts like a mother! They tell you it’s not bad because once they get you there and have started, most people feel obligated to go through with it. If it hurts, they act as if you’re a baby and they will continue, even if your SCREAMING IN PAIN! I’ve watched it being done, and I quit my job because I couldn’t bear to see people being treated like that! It’s almost BARBARIC!
Robynne, thanks for reinforcing what I thought. Before my procedure, the urology clinic was short staffed. I understand why. The cystoscopy was brutally painful. It was barbaric as the Dr rammed the scope into my bladder. Anyone thinking they are going to casually walk in the office and have a pleasant day procedure are mistaken.
@@blessingajewole576 DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT let them use Midazolam/Versed!!!! It’s not a sedative, it’s an amnesiac, and they use it quite often!! Using a sedative is different because you mostly sleep through the procedure, but if they use Versed aka Midazolam, that’s not going to help you by sleeping through it!!! What it does… it’s given to make you forget the procedure, meaning that you’ll go through the pain, the exposure, the excruciating discomfort and experience, but they don’t care how mean or rough they were with you, because those memories are erased with that drug!!! So basically you will be put through hell, and I mean HELL, but you’ll never be able to remember it!!! Tell them NO VERSED!
Yes I agree I had mine done under general anaesthetic went in water retention straight after that. I was put on catheter for two weeks. 4 weeks today still kills like crazy. Bare in mind I was asleep during the procedure so you can think about it. My worst nightmare ever.
For a rigid cystoscopy: you're given an injection of general anaesthetic (which makes you fall asleep) into your hand, or a spinal anaesthetic (which numbs the lower half of your body) into your lower back. you will be lying on a special couch with your legs in supports
@@ccoop3774 I had lidocaine as well. It did nothing. I know it did nothing because they didn’t bother using it for round 2, and there was no difference.
I just had one. After reading some of the comments, I was scared to death. It really wasn't bad at all. There was a little discomfort when the nurse injected the numbing gel, but the actual procedure didn't hurt at all and was over in a couple minutes.
thank you..I have one coming up and was wondering
I had a flexible cystoscope done just over a month ago. I hardly felt a thing except for when the nurse filled my bladder up with the saline solution which felt slightly cold. Nothing to worry about, just relax and talk to your Dr if you feel anything uncomfortable or painful.
I’m going to have one of these in the next week or so. This video didn’t do a thing to ease my anxiety. That thing looks like a garden hose. And she was kind of smiling as she explained it.
Lmao how did it go for you omg
Same with my primary physician, he did tell me that I had nothing to be concerned about (the urologist will only put a "hose" through your penis) and laughed. As we laughed together he said , "no, it is a tube ". During the procedure it was no laughing matter.
Could you please share your experience of how it when?
Hope it worked out. Think it only hurt me because was hurting in the first place. The doctor seemed to be in a rush. Worse, the two women had two young female students watch. The women didn't even have the deceny to make sure they weren't behind the door before laughing that my penis is so small. It isn't true, yet you would think medical students that far along would know how penises work.
Bro same lol
So why was blood in your urine?
@@MrsAskew-uz8og Like most guys who get much beyond 50, there is prostrate enlargement. I was told before the cystoscopy that it was something like an 80+% chance the blood was caused by the enlarged prostate, a common occurrence and was no cause for concern.
I'm going tommorow and I feel like throwing up. I told the doc I may faint. Especially after looking at that rod that's gonna get plunged in the hole.
I just want to be put to sleep till it's done but the doc said that ain't happening dude.

Thanks for telling the truth...very refreshing to hear!
@@davidcraig9938 You're very welcome. Much truth is learned through experience - both pleasurable and painful. OUCH!
David, thanks for the comment. I had the exact same experience.
Other than that, it was painless.
exactly same for me - but the initial lidocaine was a little painful for me - but just some seconds before it kicked in
For some, the lidocaine gel stings.@@greensombrero3641
I had a cystoscopy today ( male). I was dreading it after reading many of these comments. Glad to report it was not too bad, It started with the nurse injecting the numbing gel, a slight discomfort but it was very quick. The exam was not painful. I felt a little pressure at times, the process lasted maybe three minutes. Throughout this afternoon, experiencing a little burn sensation when I urinate.
I had one of these today and for me it was just slight discomfort, but then again my urologist is amazing!

When the healthcare system went female centric back in the mid 1960's, the american healthcare system changed into what many liken to a drug cartel except this is a medical cartel.

This video does not ease my anxiety.

I will never have this procedure done unless I am put to sleep as done for a colonoscopy. Any doctor that does not offer this is a sick piece of crap.
SHAMEFULl

Just had it done, i yelled stop 3 times, my god that burned like hell never ever do thst again!!! all i can say is NO DANG WAY WILL I EVER DO THAT AGAIN NO PAIN MEDS NO NOTHING I'M TRAMITZED .
@@jeffreybailey175 I got mine done under general anesthetic so it wasn't so bad. Maybe ask about that next time...
Are you kidding me.... Should not be painful.. worst pain of my life by far. Just had it done ...
Thanks for tell us the real truth on the matter, there must be other alternatives, Thanks again.
i've had it done - it's easy - uncomfortable but not painful. the most difficult part (for a male at least) was the initial lidocaine dosing...
Everybody Need anesthesia this women talking crazy that is a horrible pain to come across
this woman hasent got a clue what she is on about here your right with what your saying there tennesha
She is very possibly an actress hired to sell this procedure. And yes doctors do get a kick back for this !
A local cystoscopy is just looking into the bladder. There's not much they can do with just lidocaine jelly. I have been a part of hundreds of these over the years as an OR RN. I also have had 2 of these myself. My first one was on my lunch break and I went back to work.
Cystoscopy should not be painful? MY ASS. It was so God damn painful it felt like somebody cut me with a blade.
Just had this done an hour ago, I must be a sissy cause I couldn't stand it, it burned the whole time but it only lasted a minute, all clear.
Why some have pain and some don't and how to avoid it:
*NHC countries.* Not all of them, but I've heard the UK can be bad in this regard.
I invited my rugby team in to watch with some beer just for a laughs jesus christ did I scream, they laughed.
Your information is wrong, this is done with anestesia, I will like to see you getting done WITHOUT ANESTHESIA.
I’m getting this done tomorrow WITH ANESTHESIA
had a rigid cystoscopy this friday but under a general anesthetic all clear nothing found but they had to widen a tube in bladder to get better urine flow as one of the pipes needed narrowing out put on Tamsulosin for a months trail to see if they can help only on day 2 so to early to tell yet.
"you ever seen a bladder like that?"
"no, not since breakfast..."
Which is worse, this or kidney stone pains?
Ugh.
It's much tougher on a male because the passageway is much longer and makes several bends.
Location of report seems to be echo friendly, unfortunately.
Today is day 4 in recovery and I am having really bad left flank pain when standing for more then 5 minutes. Is this normal?
@@MuhammadHasnain-cq4pn Edit mild case of interstitial cystitis
@@MuhammadHasnain-cq4pn I kept getting utis and having pain while urinating for months. They said very little blood was found and I seem to be fine so now just waiting for the follow up. And for the back pain to aside
@@MuhammadHasnain-cq4pn thank you
@@raammmiii5494 that’s what I have. I hope you are feeling better
Hi Raamiii. Did your blood only only show in urine tests or was it visible in your urine?
What did it end up being?
I am having one next month. Not looking forward to it. Had day surgery on August 1st, and major surgery Oct 24th. Do not want this. Put me out. Ontario, Canada.
That tube is WAY too large to comfortably fit into a urethra.
Besides, the risk of pain, burning while urinating or an infection does not balance with the "benefits" it provides.
Nice advert, but I'm not planning on visiting you any time soon.
this tube is huge!
Agree to a cystoscopy if they guarantee the use of numbing gel.
Iam having this done Feb 20 along with a total hysterectomy and I’m scared because of the horror stories I’ve heard not sure why I have to have a cystoscopy but my surgeon recommended I will be under general anesthesia
no worries pain is about a 1 or2
@@imhoteptruekingofegypt4307
I actually didn’t feel
Anything until after my catheter was taken out the burn was out of this world took a few days for it to subside
Did she say mild pain. It was not mild, I screamed, every time. Picture the Hamas Urology clinic. The 2 minutes seemed like 20. No more.
Which one is more painful cystoscopy or hysteroscopy?
Hi! Remember pain is different for everybody. Most people don't find cystoscopy to be painful at all. I don't do hysteroscopy so I can't comment on that experience. Good Luck!
OH HELL TO THE NO NO. No numbing medicine. Where y’all located so I make sure I don’t go
If we gotta do it... OK.... But do we have to call it bread and butter ?
Why is she so happy talking about this
Even I am amused about it?
I’m having this done next month. Is there any other way to avoid having to go through this? I have severe PTSD from Iraq. I’m scared I’m going to freak out and run out of the room like I have in the past. I once pulled an IV out of my arm an ran out of the exam room half naked. I’m already starting to freak out over this/
Well, how did things for you? I hope all is well now.
I don't know why a cystoscopy is still performed on an outpatient basis, it is painful and the patient should at least have the choice of whether or not they want anesthesia - it is possible with a colonoscopy after all! An anxious patient is put under unnecessary stress - this does not have to be!
Has any female had this done when ct scan has shown up a lesion ? I’m so scared I’m only 41 no symptoms but they said i have a lesion ? Anything else this could be apart from cancer ? The internet has had me crying for 4 days x thanks x
I have had this done twice.
Between the numbing jell and two horse pill seditives, it was only mildly painful.
The tour group that came to observe was mildly upsetting.
I wasn't asked or introduced to them.
They could have at least bought me dinner for the entertainment they received !
You got sedative well that right we are doing it now with nothing .
I Had This 2 Weeks Ago - Fl Video Cystometrogram
Well informed video however, the (echoing) acoustics - not so good!
Anyone else think it's sadistic to not use numbing cream????
A numbing cream is typical, we use a numbing lubricant.
Pacific Northwest Urology Specialists, PLLC
Why would you not mention that in the video?? The Dr. mentions three times "no anesthesia", and mentions only that the scope is lubricated. Not once does she mention any type of numbing lubricant to make the procedure more tolerable. For people like myself who are looking for an honest and thorough explanation of this incredibly intimidating procedure, you might want to change your video to TRY to alleviate anxiety and fear.
Pacific Northwest Urology Specialists, PLLC I had Propofol. I would absolutely not see any Urologist that didn't offer it.
stephanie fuentes There are Urologist that use IV sedation. You have to be firm with you GP not to send you to these morons. Some don't because they don't have hospital privileges . My insurance doesn't pay for anything outside a hospital.
keith parkhill
Thank you for that information! It will be very helpful! Now I know what to insist on and who to avoid.
A complete lie. terrible pain. for 2 days after having it done it still feels like you are pissing razor blades.
the positive thing was they did find a spot on my bladder that hopefully will be in early stage or end up nothing at all. having biopsy Monday
But don't let anybody fool you. it is very uncomfortable and feels like you're going to pee and poop all over them
Hi what did u end up ur result ?
Yes I agree.
Insist on pain killer numbing and or twilight. Medical staff are often very blasé about other people’s discomfort.
I have mine coming up,bt I told my urologist to place me on sedative
This is actually a very low budget horror movie called Without Anesthesia.
“It requires no anesthesia…if you hate yourself & really want to hurt yourself. Otherwise, yes, ask for anesthesia.”
You will have lidocaine jelly. It just depends on what will be done. I had two local cystos and neither was painful.
@@ccoop3774 I had lidocaine as well. It did nothing. I know it did nothing because they didn’t bother using it for round 2, and there was no difference.
Informative!
Yeah! Great!
Great vid. I feel much more at ease about having this procedure in the coming weeks. 👍
I’m having this done today and omg I’m so nervous 😬
Ajahar Ahmed says the man that stole my Facebook account your a fraud
How did it go?
I wouldnt be seeing you . I got IV sedation.
Iguess it depends upon whether your urologist is a barbaric, sadistic degenerate.
I have urine problem I did cystoscopy no problem in.. After what I do
I've got one next Monday I'm scared stiff
