One of the MANY beautiful things in this match is that the players and fans were very respectful and there was no rude behaviour on either side. I have watched the Italian team from day one and I have to say, these ladies are cold blooded assassins. They have destroyed every opponent by massive advantage without losing a single set, literally sweeping their way to the gold medal. Winning the Americans in such convincing manner was just the icing on the cake. FORZA ITALIA!!

Julio found the magic recipe, in only four months. They are and were very good players and athletes, but in a supreme team sport like volleyball it’s not enough. The mental aspect is fundamental and Julio is a master in this subject.
This is probably the strongest female volley team of all times. If julio velasco stays as coach, they will win more and more tournaments. Velasco is a great coach, among the best ever. Especially as motivator.

Sfatata un'altra leggenda metropolitana della pallavolo: quella per cui la VNL va giocata senza le titolari perché altrimenti arrivano cotte alla manifestazione importante. Le quattro semifinaliste hanno tutte disputato la VNL con il roster titolare, con la leggera eccezione degli USA che non hanno utilizzato Plummer (per causa di forza maggiore) e Poulter. Chi ha affrontato l'intera VNL con le seconde e terze linee e chi ha mandato alle final eights un gruppo di ragazzine allo sbaraglio, al contrario, è tornato a casa con largo anticipo rispetto agli altri.
