Plot twist: Sonic is just hiding his torture scars and he is hallucinating the Avatar helping him. Therefore, Eggman wins and the rest of Forces never happened. Eggman has taken over the world.

Right now you see Sonic in the first stage of grief: denial. He will soon keep on denying until he goes deeper into the stages of grief finally instead of acceptance Sonic will go into a chronic state of madness

Little does Sonic know, all of his friends were killed off by SEGA after they realized that NO ONE (sarcasm) cares about having any characters other than Sonic in the game, let alone be playable. His partner, his friends on the radio, and Big the Cat are all just figments of his imagination, for he wishes he could see and hear his dear friends just more time... Oh, classic sonic is still here though.

knowing that he failed and after all his adventures and victorys he lost and eggman won.
That was what could have been the bad ending of sonic forces and it is really dark I know
But it would be the most jaw-dropping moments of the series if they added to the game.

This is the kind of mindset that got us into this mess in the first place. Or do I need to remind you of the Werehog incident?
Ninetails2000 i actually liked the werehog, it was fresh and new and went with the story, but i can see why people hated it, maybe people would of liked it more if another charecter had the combat, such as amy or knuckles?
It was supposed to be Knuckles in the first place, but then Sega felt they couldn't go back on the promise of having Sonic and Sonic only and came up with the Werehog so that it could technically still be Sonic.
The "Sonic and Sonic alone" mentality does nothing but stagnate the gameplay, stagnate the stories and deny the staple characters their proper due. Look at Tails for instance. He went from learning to stand on his own two feet and fighting on equal footing to Sonic with the playable appearances to back it up to cowering in fear at Chaos Zero, someone that Tails, all things considered, should be able to beat in his sleep. Saying that Sonic should be by himself is all well and good when it's something like Secret Rings or Sonic 4 but when you put that ideal into practice in ALL of Sonic's mainstream outings all it does is rob the established roster of their power which leads to a lack of variety in gameplay and obtuse workarounds and poor writing to justify it.
Sorry to go on a tangent, but that idea that Sonic is at his best when he's the only offering just annoys me. More often than not the people making the argument are mistaking poorly fleshed out gameplay concepts for legitimately poor or unnecessary characters
Ninetails2000 A-fucking-men. In many ways Forces was a step backwards from Gens, but in other ways it was a massive step forward for the series mentally.
