    Ive had a blast on the 3 Ive done and youve been a great teacher. Next up a 1965 C51. Real challange, hoping to get it in the ballpark of 10000. Shes loud, violent but limited to 6500.

    Loved the exhaust philosophy..ing in other videos, really helped me design a very impressive to the saw muffler, I like how the factory baffle and openings in it far as the bounce back and it a 64cc...just had little holes, anyway the internal tube had a good design on the bounce and flow, so I took right out the corner of the muffler went about 70 ir so of my port opening welded in a piece of half ID pipe, and with the factory holes inside being on top and bottom or visaversa anyhow the way I angled and depth of pipe for perfect bounce and even flow, turned it into a beast, thanks buddy, just the whole 2storke rebound and good flow, thoughts really helped me make a good move, thanks buddy

    I would have left the bridge, just top hat either side of it to raise exhaust timing and give a sequential release to aid transfer entry and scavenging.

      @@tinmanssaws The ring will get gathered by the curve you have created along the top of the port, but it's going to be a long way out over such a wide port... Going to be interesting to see. I got away with similar porting with steel liners and making a pronounced top curve and a substantial shallowish ramp to press the rings back in. I managed to bugger up a chromed bore on one of my model engines I was porting for competition by too big and wide an exhaust port... Top hatting let me get the 25,000 rpm + I wanted without snagging anything - won the state championship with that engine but it didn't last more than a few weeks after the season due to crank failure at full song... Porting was a normal thing when I started riding motorcycles in the late 70's - everyone at least clean up the ports and tranfers and we all had twostrokes mostly too. It was a normal evening to fiddle a bit with the porting or a different head when changing the rings or decoking... Do you think there is any point in trying to open the front transfer earlier than the secondary next to the exhaust, or the other way? Can be an interesting way of changing the swirl effect in the pot thus affecting the flame front speed and location...

    This was the first one of your vids I have watched. I enjoyed it much. Great info.
    I'm reading and watching vids all I can about porting so I can do my own saws. I'm probably going to do a XL-12 first. It's my least used saw and I have 7 others, so if it blows, no big deal.
    Keep the vids coming. Many thanks.

    Great job explaining what you are doing!!! I think chain saws are addictive in a way at least for me. I never thought of porting until now. I have 3 or 4 homelite's that I could port. They didn't cost me a dime I was going to sell them but maybe not. I also have a handful of the top handle Poulan's that lack power and they were free. I need to reorganize my shop and get rid of allot of the wood working tools that I don't use very often. Or win the lottery and build my dream garage!!! Great video keep up the good work!!!

    To get more flow on in the reedcase,you could mount a pyramid into it. I might saw, that there was a flat faceplate in it. thats a heavy Brake. Modern 2 Strokes have a Pyramid there,facing towards the Carb,letting the air push the reeds open better. Easily to build and better intake Performance

    • @tinmanssaws
      @tinmanssaws  4 роки тому

      I'm not sure if im following you but the reed cage and reed entry into the case are already pyramid.

    • @Witschor
      @Witschor 4 роки тому

      Tinman's saws no, i mean the front plate of the reedcage is flat. The Airfuel hits it and has to open the reeds sideways. Look into the Reedcage from the carbside and you see a flat wall, around there are the reeds. On this flat braking wall you should mount a pyramid with the top facing towards the carb , so that the gasses were pushed sideways to the reeds for better flow!

    Just a thought, and they are very stout saws. Is the chinese 45cc 4500 and 52cc 5200, the 58cc 5800 and the 62cc 6200 are slightly bigger saw, the to smaller split case saws have 32mm stroke crank and the 2 bigger of the saws has a 34mm stroke crank. You have to measure the stroke to be sure witch saw you have since both saws use a 45 or 46mm cylinder. they have 2 styles for both cylinders a dual port and a quad port the quad port cylinders make more power by far from all model saws to a husqvarna and stihl to echo and so on. they are choked up with a 40cc carb making them run like a small saw or a husqvarna 50, 51 and 55. Anyways what I was getting at is you need to check out the intake ports and how they are designed they are pretty well much heart shaped and ramp down into the crank case they allow for a good port reworking if one pleases to. With a stihl ms290/390 or a husqvarna 365 carb and a reworked intake manifold from a cut oem ms390 intake boot and glued to the oem flange with seal all then allows for a reworked intake manifold that is now larger and can be reworked to match the intake port flange for better flow allows for a damn good running chinese saw. If you are interested in building one of these saws like I have I really wouldn't mind sending you some parts to work with say as a intake manifold and muffler. I sure would be glad to help. Have not seen anyone do a video on one of these saw and port it and modify one. I know most will say why would I want to see a video on something I've already done and know about when that's not really it I like seeing people do and try things I have done on their channel to help inform others that they can as well. Just a thought hope you decide to if so shoot me a email at rncboy2@gmail.com I would love to send some pictures of my build. Also very good video on the xl port work i see no problem in removing the divider in the exhaust or transfers as in more air out equals more air in. Good job buddy and keep up the cool videos!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Looks good tinman. Can’t wait to see it rip. One problem that you will have is you coil is now 30 thousands closer to the flywheel but I’m sure it’s a simple fix. Those governed carbs you can remove the brass screw and put a Welch plug in the bore and put the plug back in and it blocks off the governor

So if you want to see what we can get out of one by using the clone parts that they come with and see if it will take it. Let me know. I'm more than willing to send you one to play with.
