As a fanfic writer (not RPF don’t worry lol) when Ethan started with “I dont know if anyone still uses Wattpad…” I PHYSICALLY cringed
Also Sean don’t worry, “UA-camr X child” is probably not what you think it is. There was this trend for a bit of people wanting to write their content creators as parents of their kid original characters, usually like adopting or something, so I’m guessing that’s what it is. Usually (at least now) it’s a slash (ie Crowley/Aziraphale, for example) that denotes a romantic pairing; something x something just means generally combining two things. Like, if someone wrote a story combining two books, it might be “Book A x Book B.” Not that anyone probably cares but… now you know 😅

As someone who has read fanfiction (granted never of actual people) this is a real rough one to sit through boys, I gotta be honest. I kinda feel bad for the writers of those stories because they probably never intended for you guys to find these and many of them probably are/were teenagers at the time they wrote all that, exploring sexualities, fine tuning writing for their first audiences, etc. Yeah it's weird and it's public but that doesn't stop the second hand embarrassment for me. Especially if they're still fans.
Only way I'm getting through this is prayer.

Im going to really out myself here, but i was one of the young teenagers (13-15) who wrote cringey youtuber fanfiction. I wrote like, superhero ones, one where one of them was an android type stuff (no smut, I was a kid w a dream) and it taught me for better or for worse how to write stories. Also I refuse to believe any youtuber has seen any of my old stuff, I refuse.
(Edit: I'm 20 now, I know how weird it is to see people online as characters that you can write about, but I was 13 who figured out I can make my own stories so I just used what i knew at the time. Now I make my own characters and draw comics instead :] )

Okay, as someone who also used to write fanfiction back around 2016 to late 2019, I've written stories with longer chapters but BOY, 87 CHAPTERS IS INSANE 😭😭😭😭 But man, I love how funny their storytelling was! Genuinely got a good laugh out of me!

As someone who still uses wattpad and loves reading fanfiction even i get weird out by some of the fics especially the youtuber fanfictions
I'm an avid fic writer (not of Septiplier or Crankiplier, I don't dabble in RPF) and every time someone who is outside of "the culture" (for lack of a better term) reads fic for content I always have to brace myself, because it's almost never done in good faith and it's usually done with either an overt or covert undertone of "let's make fun of this thing we think is cringey". It's like when Furries were the butt of every joke on the Internet.
I'm not saying that Sean or Ethan were being intentionally malicious or anything like that, but still.
Fanfic is written for fun. Nobody gets paid to write it and oftentimes it gets posted with bare minimum or zero editing, and considering that it's from Wattpad (which is considered, like, D-tier fic quality) odds are whoever wrote it was like 14 when they did.
(Also when Ethan said he didn't know what 'AU' is I went "Aww, bless your heart" ❤)

if you write a story about a real life person, you don't get to decide if that person reads it in a public video.
Honestly some people crossed a lot of boundaries repeatedly even though they were told multiple times to not (i.e. septiplier) so I feel like those people deserve to be taken the piss out of tbh, if someone's shipping real life people they can feel as uncomfortable as the people they were shipping

This entire comment just reads as if you're trying to justify the weird shit that people post instead of just saying "hey, reminder that not all fanfic is of real people".
Also ao3 would just be way more uncomfortable considering it's a site with an older demographic and userbase. The fics have more skill and are usually more serious, it would just be a million time more awkward to read.

i am praying for the author of this story. as someone who used to write fanfic similar to this as a young teenager i can’t imagine the embarrassment this author could be going through with their story being read out loud by the boys.
yeah this keeps happening lately and im getting worried for these writters, i came only to see if they asked permission to do this because time and time again youtubers keep making these without permission and leaving the authors to fend off waves of hate and doxxing from fans. from the looks of it there doesnt seem to have been permission given so im gonna try and find some of them to message warnings to turn off comments and stuff through its probably too late for that. always sad to see.
Honestly Sean and Ethan both have a pretty wholesome fanbase. I highly doubt anyone will be that big of an a-hole and go harass the authors of these fics. I'd say the outliers would also probably be shamed by other fans if they do that crap @@avermalt

But I did enjoy them acting out all the different characters and would love to see them do more acting/roleplaying/improv/etc. Especially when Jack did his teacher voice from Kindergarten. 😂 I would love to see more stuff like that.

flash games were the bombb i was devastated when flash got cut, when i was in primary school / elementary there were all these different online (i guess youd call them MMOs?) games like MSP and club penguin and animal jam OH AND MOSHI MONSTERS it was so much fun being like in the computer lab and playing together, or if u were playing from home it felt like magic that you could 'hang out' with your friend without actually having to be near each other. i wonder what this generation of kids will look back on in the same way we think of this stuff

I’d like to have a word with the person who wrote the first story lmao. It’s not like this was written ten years ago. It was literally written in 2020
as an avid fanfic reader earlier in the mid-2000s X reader means Canon character being paired romantically or platoniclly with the reader. However, when some people started using X to mean with the reader platonically it wasn't clear. People started using X Teen! Reader or X Child! reader for those who wanted to read a story (typically) about them hanging out with their favorite character or even being adopted by them. But X is more associated with romance so people started using & reader instead. Unfortunately there are still people who confuse X and & reader and it comes across are way more creepy. It doesn't help that there is x underage reader as well to add to the confusion.
