    I think you should have done a quick over view of 2021 WC to show how many anti burn cards were sized then

      I didn't want the video to go too long, but this is a good point, so I will discuss it briefly here.
      Looking at the top 16, the meta was a lot more wide where as now it's trending to be more streamlined. Burn did well at this event because it wasn't as prepared for. Mobius was not nearly as common and literally nobody in the top 16 sided Mystik Wok for that event. Decree, Wombat and Dust Tornado were the go-to cards at the time, which makes sense because Goat Control was largely dormant at the time, with the Control deck of preference for most of the field in the previous year had been Thunder Dragon Chaos Control, which is much more likely to play (usually main decked) Royal Decree. Wombat started falling off during the 2022 season and has continued trending downward. There is another video on this channel discussing Des Wombat in greater detail, I would recommend watching that as well. Dust Tornado was, is, and will always be a solid side deck card because it hits other decks besides just Burn, while also being very effective against Burn. Here's a quick listing of the five cards in discussion in the top 16 from the 2021 World Championship, as well as the meta overview of the top 16. Hope this helps to further clarify and thanks for the feedback.

    I experimented with using Chain Energy for a burn deck. Definitely has its potential in the right deck with putting pressure on an opponent if they can't quickly get rid of it and could especially get nasty when comboed with other burn and stall cards like Wave-Motion Cannon, Toll, and Dark Snake Syndrome. Still, any Burn Deck's heavy dependency on Traps and Continuous effects has enough options to counter or shut down setup of potential strategies if the player piloting it doesn't have what they need in their hand to quickly get going.

    I can see stall burn coming back.. which is sad since against panda burn you at least have some form of interaction. Puy did a video not long ago about exchange in stall burn to get rid of heavy storm and its quite effective i think.

    Burn is strong, but with so many side deck options for it, I can see why its popularity is decreasing.

    As long as Mystik Wok remains in the side deck, burn isn't going to top much. Good riddance

    Thoughts on barrel behind the door as an anti burn card?

    • @infusionscap
      @infusionscap Рік тому +1

      Good question. I've had some success with it as a side deck card in Burn against the mirror, but for pretty much every other deck I don't think it goes far enough to stop Burn. Decks like Warriors, Standard/Turbo Chaos and Control just want to focus on the board state and the damage will come when you have the board. The priority should be more on setting the pace and keeping your options open (avoiding getting clogged fields with Ojama Trio or getting walled out by floodgate cards like Gravity Bind or Level Limit Area-B) and getting the board to a state where you can press the initiative and eventually run the Burn deck out of options or just push damage through faster than they can.

      people shouldn't have alf a deck of traps when people can have decrees and jinzo, burn can be played with way less traps

    What makes mystik wok so good, and the most popular sideboard card across archtypes?

    • @infusionscap
      @infusionscap Рік тому +3

      Good question. It manages to do multiple things at once. It can help you get out of being locked down by Ojama Trio tokens, it also increases your life, and it takes something off of your field, which changes the amount of damage being dealt by something like Secret Barrel or Just Desserts if used in a chain. It can also be used to dodge Ring of Destruction in some scenarios, and it pairs well with Mobius due to its high attack stat. Basically, it's hyper flexible with tons of upsides that virtually any deck can take advantage of. Compare it to something like Royal Decree; Decree is obviously powerful in the matchup, but not every deck can access it due to trap counts being high, or compare it to something like Mobius which is also strong but you may be playing a deck that struggles to have tribute fodder.

      You get extra life which is big and it can get rid of an ojama token. If you had 4 mons on field just desserts goes from doing 2k to 500 since you got rid of one and gained 1k. If they were gonna ring your bls that’s a 6k swing in life points

      It’s not bad, let’s you tribute Ojama tokens without the possibility of being zone locked from monsters with similar effects. Generally archer is better being searchable or fairy since it’s also light. You’re better off not summoning that 2nd monster until you can put tokens.
