I started my journey of Game Quitting in 2016, when I stumbled upon the GQ channel (it had around 1k subs back then). The journey was on and off, slipping during Covid, but the principles I learned went beyond just not playing videogames, but learning motivation, spirituality, work ethic, social bonds and many more discoveries. I never regretted embarking on Game Quitting path. Thank you, Cam!❤

Yeah, that restlessness is recognizable. Waking up earlier instead of sleeping the hours I need to sleep, just because my whole body/nervous system thinks I should be playing...

I can relate to this a lot. I even had some situations where I barely even recognized what I was doing when I tried to buy groceries. I just thought about the game at all times and had zero focus on reality.

Day 63 of the G-virus detox: Sleep truly is the foundation of a healthy lifestyle. I have been on the opposite extreme before that lead to temporary psychosis. Now I am working on dealing with emotions and healthy perspectives in handling boredom.

Thank you for sharing your journey. Beautiful to hear of the positive changes, much recognizable!
Letting go of the old platforms like Steam and Blizzard, and thinking "thanks for providing the service", acknowledging that it has served its purpose in the past, but we don't need it anymore, sounds great. I might do that one day too.
Easter is always a harder period in my soberdom from games. Lots of associations of old 'easter sales', which then can trigger an interest and interest-loop of seeing all the new titles and remakes of the games I played in the past.
Often my periods of thinking of games, the underlying tone is being a bit more alone/lonely, and not reaching out to others about my hardship.
After sharing my hardship and reaching out to people I love, I feel better again, connected to my tribe/friends/love, etc.
Keeping myself strong. Happy I'm not going to play.
Board games and puzzles with my girlfriend, are a good distraction. Meditation and sport also really are great hobbys that I naturally seek again.
Keep up your sobriety and good work!

I am 36 and live at home, but I have had a good job for 6 years at the same company and finished paying off the house note over the last 4. I understand living at home as long as SOMEHOW you contribute. Its just sad to hear someone has lost so much life opportunities due to WoW addiction.

At first I thought this channel was the latest gaming channel where you learn how to rage-quit with flair. 😂 Nothing wrong with gaming friends, its all about balance! I’ve got a high score in life with a bonus level family, and still, I’m gaming daily. Now I’m on a quest to find other ‘Quitter’ guilds. Too much Mozart and Limp Bizkit could also be bad for you so Is there a ‘Music Quitters’ Channel? A ‘Book Quitters’ Channel? I’m acing ‘Tennis Quitters’ already. And I’d be the boss level at ‘Bad Movies Quitters’ - I love lots of bad movies with horrendous acting! Might just hit ‘start’ on that channel myself!”

    • @leolundgren3989
      @leolundgren3989 2 місяці тому

The channel is for people who are unable to find balance, thus being addicted users. You don’t have to take such offense if you’re just casually enjoying video games without much issue.

I was like that once. My grades were falling in school because I wasn't doing homework in favor of my videogame addiction. My parents took away my console until my grades improved. Recently, I have been re-watching old Dr Phil episodes about gaming-addicted teens. One dropped out of school just so he could game 17 hours a day, and his parents completely enabled him by replacing his console when he broke it. The other was playing Grand Theft Auto 20 hours a day, and like the first kid, was so full of anger and uncontrollable rage that he was mistreating his mom, who also enabled him. In the case of the first kid, his parents even pulled him out of a wilderness detox program after a week simply because he didn't like it.
Anyway, I'm rambling on. I basically have to force myself to start up my console, and even then, it's only to check for updates. I rarely play anymore.

Why brought a child anyway, life is retarded and suffering, all child suffering in accident, diseases, wage slave job, murder killers, and more,
Parents must respect their child, only us can help in our addiction, no one else,

My issue isn't that I game too much, I play on average 2 or 3 hours a day.
The issue is, that I prioritize gaming over everything else.
Doing work or wherever I go, I think about which build to play in Path of Exile, or how to improve my build, and best farming strategies, instead of thinking about expanding my business, hiring more people, going to the gym regularly, and such.
And also, it is much easier for me to play PoE instead of reading a book
