- So this one came through to the call centre and I went around to do a quote. When I saw how bad the place was, I offered to do it for free if I was allowed to post the transformation on social media. The tenant agreed and this is the result. The lady next door told me that the property had been a rental for the last 6 years and pretty much been neglected ever since. Apparently, the former owner used to keep it immaculate, with garden beds and plenty of Roses - how things change. On this cleanup, I get the place back into reasonable shape and make it much easier for future maintenance. All up, I spent around 12 hours on this job, with 2 trips to the landfill.

Q: Where are you located?
A: I am from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 🦘.
Q: Do you worry about snakes?
A: I have never even seen a snake in over 5 years on the job.
Q: Which equipment do you use?
A: Mostly STIHL power equipment (battery and petrol) and commercial Honda self-propelled mowers.
Q: How much do the jobs cost?
A: Sorry, I prefer not to talk about costs.
Q: What happened to Nick?
A: Nick was offered a full-time position at his other job as a Political admin.
Q: What happened to Brent?
A: Brent quit at the start of August 2022.
Q: Why don't you use tarps instead of bins?
A: Tarps are too difficult to move through small spaces and lift into the trailer. The same for wheelbarrows, they are only good for unloading the trailer!
Q: Why are the hot water cylinders outside?
A: I would say it's because Australia had a temperate to tropical climate, and therefore it doesn't matter that much if they are outdoors. To me, though, it seems a bit inefficient to have them outside in Tasmania with a temperate climate (coldish for 3 - 4 months per year). But that is industry standard down here 🤷♂️.
Q: Why are you cutting so close to your employee?
A: I'm not cutting too close to my workers, they are standing too close to where I am working! All of my workers have been told numerous times about standing too close to the tools and about the hazards involved!
Q: Why do your workers do all the lifting and carrying?
A: Basically, they are employed to carry things and I pay them well, to do the job required.
Q: You work so well together, how do you do it?
A: That's the magic of editing. My workers are basically given instructions on what to do, I just edit it all out, so the videos look seamless!
Q: Why don't you have help?
A: I've had many problems with employees in the past, so now I work alone.
Q: Why don't you have a ride-on mower?
A: Well, there are a few reasons.
1. I don't have the right trailer for a ride on, considering I always take away the green waste.
2. I don't have anywhere to store it, as my shed is too small.
3. A lot of the properties we do have fences and gates, so you can't actually get a ride-on on to the properties.
4. I don't do enough big jobs to justify spending 15k AUD on a stander, but it would be nice to have one!
5. I will get one as soon as my transport and storage problems are solved.
Q: What happened to your workers?
A: Because the work is so hard and I expect high standards, most have quit over time. The only exception so far is Nick.
Q: What types of ladders do you use?
A: The large one is a Gorilla Adjustable Platform 150kg and the small one is a Gorilla Mighty 19. They are both adjustable.
Q: Who/what is Jim's Mowing?
A: Jim's Mowing is a franchise business. The Jim's Group is the biggest home services franchise in Australia.
Q: Why do you have 2 channels that seem the same?
A: Quick Cuts (my original channel) has music in the background. Quick Cuts V2 is for those that like just machine noise, and it doesn't have music.

Wow George! The tenant must be thrilled with everything you did. It's not a clean slate for them to decide which gardens to keep or not. It would be a huge amount of work to keep those roses and garden beds. I wonder if they will remove the one in the centre of the lawn? It will make it so much easier to just mow. I am super impressed by the view they have. What a beautiful countryside you have there. Nice work, anyway. A bit of rain and it will green up as quick as anything.

I'm a fan from a tropical country. I've watched many lawn care content on youtube, from US, UK, New zealand, Australia, some dudes in Vietnam, and one from Germany.
So far you're still my favorite, because you do the work section by section and you clean as you go. And you tidy up random things you find in the yard. So perfect.
Only thing that sometimes make me 😵 is when you prune or even chop away rose bushes. But you know what you are doing. 😊

I think your statement about the time it takes is accurate, from my own experience, and I did quite a bit of yard work. It's also the tools, for example, edging can take forever without the right tools.

Wow, that was so great to watch! What a transformation! It seems like such a big backyard, and the view is really great, even if it is an urban view.
Good idea to take out the old roses, even though it was a bit sad, but if they aren't getting cared for it's better that they are gone.
I have never seen such a huge protea!! It was nice that you trimmed off the lower branches to make a bit of space underneath. I'd been thinking that what was needed was a huge, spreading sort of shade tree.
I would absolutely LOVE to make use of those raised garden beds! They could have veges galore!

So satisfying seeing all those old plants being removed. You’ve spoiled me. Hard to watch others that don’t even have a trailer so the debris stays on the property. That is not transforming the yard. It’s just mowing what they can reach. This new movers cut through hard branches and then they are left on the ground as some sort of mulch. Sad. You are the best. I love when the owners give you carte blanche to do what you know is right for the transformation.
