  • So, after driving around for 2 hours looking for a yard to clean up for free, I'd lucked out. After knocking on 3 doors, one wasn't home (been there about 4 time so far) and the other 2 said no to a free cleanup. Who says no to a free yard cleanup 🤷‍♂️. Anyway, I was driving around and I saw this property. I've already done a massive transformation here about a year ago, so I decided to knock on their door and see what was going on. The homeowners were away at a funeral and their daughter told me that the mower they bought after the last clean-up was broken, so they couldn't mow. I said, right, ok then, I'd better do your yard again! She said “excellent”, so we began. I later found out that the mower wasn't broken, it just didn't have any fuel or oil. Note: When you buy a new mower, you need to purchase fuel and oil separately. Sometimes they have a small oil bottle included, but always good to check 😉. After the rescue, I mentioned to the owner about a regular mowing service, and she was happy with the price (yes, I'm doing a few regular mows again). So this property will definitely be looked after moving forward. The quote included monthly mowing, weed spraying and rubbish removal. All up, I spent around 13 hours on this job, with 2 trips to the landfill.

    FAQ's:
    Q: Where are you located?
A: I am from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 🦘.
Q: Do you worry about snakes?
A: I have never even seen a snake in over 5 years on the job.
Q: Which equipment do you use?
A: Mostly STIHL power equipment (battery and petrol) and commercial Honda self-propelled mowers.
Q: How much do the jobs cost?
A: Sorry, I prefer not to talk about costs.
    Q: What happened to Nick?
A: Nick was offered a full-time position at his other job as a Political admin.
    Q: What happened to Brent?
A: Brent quit at the start of August 2022.
Q: Why don't you use tarps instead of bins?
A: Tarps are too difficult to move through small spaces and lift into the trailer. The same for wheelbarrows, they are only good for unloading the trailer!
Q: Why are the hot water cylinders outside?
A: I would say it's because Australia had a temperate to tropical climate, and therefore it doesn't matter that much if they are outdoors. To me, though, it seems a bit inefficient to have them outside in Tasmania with a temperate climate (coldish for 3 - 4 months per year). But that is industry standard down here 🤷‍♂️.
Q: Why are you cutting so close to your employee?
A: I'm not cutting too close to my workers, they are standing too close to where I am working! All of my workers have been told numerous times about standing too close to the tools and about the hazards involved!
Q: Why do your workers do all the lifting and carrying?
A: Basically, they are employed to carry things and I pay them well, to do the job required.
Q: You work so well together, how do you do it?
A: That's the magic of editing. My workers are basically given instructions on what to do, I just edit it all out, so the videos look seamless!
Q: Why don't you have help?
A: I've had many problems with employees in the past, so now I work alone.
    Q: Why don't you have a ride-on mower?
A: Well, there are a few reasons.
    1. I don't have the right trailer for a ride on, considering I always take away the green waste.
    2. I don't have anywhere to store it, as my shed is too small.
    3. A lot of the properties we do have fences and gates, so you can't actually get a ride-on on to the properties.
    4. I don't do enough big jobs to justify spending 15k AUD on a stander, but it would be nice to have one!
    5. I will get one as soon as my transport and storage problems are solved.
Q: What happened to your workers?
A: Because the work is so hard and I expect high standards, most have quit over time. The only exception so far is Nick.
Q: What types of ladders do you use?
A: The large one is a Gorilla Adjustable Platform 150kg and the small one is a Gorilla Mighty 19. They are both adjustable.
    Q: Who/what is Jim's Mowing?
A: Jim's Mowing is a franchise business. The Jim's Group is the biggest home services franchise in Australia.
Q: Why do you have 2 channels that seem the same?
A: Quick Cuts (my original channel) has music in the background. Quick Cuts V2 is for those that like just machine noise, and it doesn't have music.

I was wondering if the camera learning curve was video or audio related, but audio didn’t make much sense when it started turning on and off while you were in frame. Great job, as always. Maybe a donut will help to mediate future editing debacles?

Great, great job like usual but sometimes, I think that some peoples don't deserve your help and hard work. Unbelievable quantity of garbage and all for free? Wow!! I am amazed that even after a year, this property is so much easier to clean up than the first time you were there. That was an epic series of videos and you worked so hard! I was super impressed with all you did. I am so pleased you didn't judge. You saw a need and offered a helping hand. They benefit, you benefit and we benefit. Its wonderful really. At least I hope you benefit and don't get too many aches and pains for the hard work you do. I am hoping your channel does so well that you can focus on helping people in need. I always think that same thing when I see these kind of videos. If the outside is that bad. What in the heck does the inside look like?😂 But I think this lady is in over her head with that big house and huge yard. She probably should sell and downsize to a smaller more manageable property. And make the daughter take the trash all the way to the curb.🤯

I absolutely love George’s Honda mower! That thing is a beast. I am always amused by the way it seems the clippings bag can hold such a huge amount of clippings, because he edits out most of the times he empties it. I rarely see American lawn people using a mattock, but George employs it on each video; a very useful tool. And the bramble eater is another great tool for this area. I am also impressed by his mowing technique, cutting high the first time, and coming back with the deck set lower, to do a finished job. Also, would kind of like to know what goes through his mind as he picks up all that trash; but, maybe I really don’t want to know. He does such a good job of explaining what to do about the weeds , to someone who knows very little about lawn care. Really glad they agreed to become a monthly customer. George will make sure, as long as he is on the job, that it never reverts to this stage again!

I do remember this yard! It looked so good when you finished. It was this lawn when I realized Australian properties have a sidewalk to their clothesline. Love it!
Congrats on the new camera! It gives a crisp video matching your crisp yards! 😄 Isn’t that a new lawn mower, too?
I am always amazed at the quality of work you do, when I see a new video pop up, I know it will be superb, but it amazes me still! You make me want to jump up and clean my home from top to bottom! 😄
The yard was easier to re-make this time because you had already removed so much junk, but why they can’t keep their trash in the bin is beyond me. And buying a new mower, but never getting oil and gas. 🤷‍♀️ 💚 from Texas (it’s 39* here)

Okay, I’m gonna make the request… “Please show the emptying of the clippings bag on the mower”. For those of us who are somewhat process based, and OCD, we know it is filling up. We wait and the stress builds as we watch for the moment that bag is given the needed purge of clippings.

Favourable places for plants, how to cut down branches without killing the tree. It's also nice to see when you mend fences etc with little means. What to think about with garden waste. You have so much competence and experience. Keep on your good work. Greetings from Sweden. ❤

Love your smile after you say goodbye to the home owner. 😃It does feel so good to help others and share your talents!
Glad the residents agreed to get (your) lawn service. A lot of people get overwhelmed when things break down. It should be much easier/more accessible/normalized to bring your things in for repair - instead of just buying a new one, or letting things get worse and worse. Make a budget for the right service to maintain your property/possessions if you can't/won’t do it yourself.
    Have a great weekend everyone!

When I first started watching Quick Cuts I thought you were harsh in cutting back and removing plants but episodes like this made me see that reducing the maintenance needs for these properties makes more sense than trying to rescue stressed plants which more than likely are not going to get tender loving care. Thanks for the second channel, I really prefer the actual sounds of the work.

One of my top favorites channels, now in 4K. Awesome. About the owner... : when you get old, you don't care about many things - it's a kind of depression. At that age, she'll never stand over the Tasmanian Sun to mow a garden "that she doesn't uses" (air quotes). And there's the money factor also. When you buy a house, you definitely have to consider "gardening" as a regular mandatory expense - I guarantee a considerable percentage of people really don't think this way - they think is a luxury to have a groomed garden etc. It's insane! (health problems with insects, fire danger etc). Best wishes, much success from Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, Brasil o/

Love it when you share the names of plants. Nice to learn things about Tasmania. Please share more on rainfall, growing conditions, plants. Everything is so interesting. For example. The fushias are fantastically big. In Utah, USA, we buy them for hanging baskets in summer, then they die in winter, and we rebuy in summer, they are never bigger than a beach ball. Thanks for your channel! Great work!

I guess aome people dont really care about their yards you did another great job . I think if they give up on you cutting it regularly then you need to drive on by. You are a lawn artist. Thank you

The way some people let their yards go like that is mind boggling. You did this yard a year ago, so obviously nothing had been done since. With trash mixed in with the growth. One year! Pretty sad. Nice job though and good on you for the work you do. I like your attention to the details on all your clean ups.

Again! i wonder if the residents would consider living in a unit or such and someone, or a family, who'd value, use and maintain this big space could be given a chance?? Staggering.. Well done G. fab work.

Thought I recognised that fence by the path George. That last visit was epic, as I recall. Brambles all the way to the shed at the back yes? I think it's great they agreed to a regular visit by you. Many might think forgetting fuel and oil was dumb, but if you're not mechanically minded then dumb is the wrong word. Easily done if you've never really bought anything like that before or suffered some form of MH where concentration distracts. The only ones to lose out this time round are those who said no to the best clean-up they'd ever get, mate. Now, that could be described as dumb, lol.

I know people who have absolutely no idea what needs to be done to anything with moving parts! They are not dumb, they just don’t have a mechanically minded bone in their body, and can’t figure out what to do. Their talents lie elsewhere. But they can frequently do things that leave me in awe of them.

@@leecarlson9713 Spot on. When I saw her on this video it was obvious she couldn't do something on that scale. Many people with MH or autism can do things most folk don't even realise. I saw a video of a guy with the latter who could hear something and play it back on a piano note for note. How amazing is that?

I remember when you cleared this property the first time. That whole area between the back fence, around the wood shed and to the broken fence was packed with hawthorn and brambles, and it was horrible for you! Thank goodness it hadn’t gotten that bad again and you still have that amazing Honda beast! I am glad you’re going to schedule her once a month.
I noticed the backyard neighbor come out to see what you were doing. Hopefully she wasn’t the one dumping the black garbage bags in the backyard.
Great job, George! Maybe you can convince her to either repair or remove that broken red fence. 😊

If I remember correctly George said something about taking it down the first time he did the yard. He didn’t, so I thought maybe they want to keep it like that. 🤷‍♀️

Oltretutto certa gente impone agli altri il proprio disordine e la propria sporcizia. Questo non e' legittimo. Bravo George che aiuti questa gente, ma anche tutti i loro vicini che hanno diritto sacrosanto a vivere nel decoro❤😊
