    I found it really interesting how you've dropped quite a lot in body fat %, while the scale doesn't really show much change. It goes to show how important it is to not have tunnel vision on that special number on the scale.. Though you probably need that before a competition, I'm completely clueless :)

    • @jenniferjerome3789
      @jenniferjerome3789 5 років тому +9

      Lise Normann I agree with you 100%. She is a great example of knowing what works for her and her body and not being crazy about the scale.

    • @the_notorious_bas
      @the_notorious_bas 5 років тому +3

      Lise Normann -4% is NOT a lot of fat for 4 months. assuming she has no health or mental issues, she should be able to burn 1-2 pounds per week with a decent diet and some cardio when needed.

    • @SamwaisGanza
      @SamwaisGanza 5 років тому +32

      Staying healthy while loosing fat for a longer time is better than starving to lose 1-2 pounds/week. So Megs progress is in my opinion very good example of a healthy cut on an already healthy and fit body.

    • @the_notorious_bas
      @the_notorious_bas 5 років тому +7

      Samwais Skullbreaker You don't need to 'starve' to loose 1-2 pounds at her bodyfat level. It would be different when she was below 15%

    You were one of the main UA-camrs who inspired md to start lifting and not just do cardio. I am 45 and I have gained about 5 lbs in muscle, yea!! Healthy bones goal!

      I'm so excited to read this, Pammylynn Girl! I'm 40 and just started lifting July 1 of this year. I've seen some small changes that I never expected at all, like the shape of my calves shifting. They've looked the same most of my life, but suddenly there are "levels" to the muscle definition that is forming. I never expected that. Again, nothing is drastic, not in 8 weeks of (probably remedial) lifting. Hey, I'll take any improvement in my health and well being that my body will graciously bestow me after years of neglect and abuse! Thank you for sharing your own success, because it helps to further motivate others of us as well.

    Just did my check-in Dexa scan on my first cut with RP. Lost a total of only 6 pounds, but decreased body fat from 23.3% to 18.6%. Also *gained* 1.7 lbs of lean tissue. Thanks for sharing your experience, BodySpec, and RP with us!!

    I'm about to have a baby, and since we only plan to have this one, my plan is to lose the baby weight and get my bf% to somewhere between 21-24% within 1-2 years. I want to be healthy, fit, and strong enough to be able to keep up with my son and look good in clothes. That's it. If it does tighten up a bit of the loose skin from having a baby, that's a bonus. I'm 34, so I think it's good if I can get myself in shape before I hit my 40s, when making big changes gets harder...

    Just some advice for people who are interested in body comp testing ... try and do tests around same time of day. Avoid exercising before the test. General rule of thumb, no food or water 4 hrs before the test. I usually just schedule in the morning and just dont eat or drink before. No alcohol the night before & try and get around the same amount of sleep.
    Water weight fluctuates constantly! So if seeing that you "lost" LBM bothers you, try and keep your body in a consistent state for any body comp testing (DEXA, bodypod, underwater weighing, BIA, etc)

    You’re looking more and more fabulous! I think macro tracking and excessive focus on food may be of some use for bodybuilders and people with excess weight. I really want to drop some body fat but since I don’t need to lose any weight, I wondered how much this was necessary. The answer then is: Train more! 💜

    I just want to thank you for falling your passion, you have inspired me to be healthy,confident and not afraid to be strong. I am 5'2 and was 200lbs in February of this year and I was depressed, it was the heaviest I had ever gotten. I was looking at crossfit videos on UA-cam when one of your videos popped up and I watched it and it so lit a fire in me that just kicked out my fear. I had been thinking about crossfit for many years and somehow with one video of yours it gave me the courage to go head first into it..9 months later I'm 145 healthier and so much more happier. Started training with a powerlifter, he got my deadlift from 160 to 300 in 4 weeks and every time I do a workout that wants to kill me i think of you and how amazingly epic you are...truly thank you, you saved my life and inspired me to help others...stay beautiful inside and out you have such a special spirit and amazing heart.
    With so much love, respect and blessings your way. Thank you. -sierra Atkins

I've never really watched what I eat and I'm not planning to beyond healthily getting the 2g of protein ( mostly) which means eating more. But I always assumed I was about 12% 😂 but that's based on presumption not education.

A few years back I lost approx. 80lbs of fat (beachbody/expensive), and then gained about 10lbs of lean muscle through bodybuilding.com programs. I would not have discovered heavy lifting had it not been for the free programs. I absolutely believe that fitness professionals (all professionals) should be compensated appropriately, but damn was it amazing to find quality programs that anybody could access. I'm so glad that I found them when I did. 💙

    4% down with 7,5 pounds weightloss? That’s not too shabby. I wish, I had access to a Dexa scan. I find it incredibly hard to guess my bodyfat correctly. Calipers just don’t work for me at all. I store almost all my bodyfat in my belly and upper back (it’s really totally weird...I can hardly pinch anything in my thighs and hips, but I have ‚lovehandles‘ under my shoulderblades). I‘m also afraid, that I actually have quite a bit of visceral fat, despite being athletic and certainly not overweight. My waist measurement is just off the charts compared to my hips and chest.
    For 45 $, I would happily do a scan every month 😕.

    I have my next Dexa scan next week and my last one i was 23% BF, so i'm excited to see where i am now, i've lost about 10lbs since the last one, so we shall see, its the best and only way to get an accurate measure on fat loss and muscle gain, another great video Meg

    good video Meg. I know you are strong and that what your goals and videos are about but to me it's also looking the part of health and strength and leaness. It's more impressive and a better example for others when you are lean and strong as you demonstrate getting down to 19.8% bf if not lower. At 23.9% I see someone in this pic as overweight, yeah maybe you can push a lot of weight but you don't look the part of health and wellness

    I love how women at 19%bf look like models meanwhile if I was at 19%bf, I'd look like a fat tub of lard.

      But guys naturally have less body fat... It's unhealthy for women to drop down to what guys can. So I'm feel the same about you.
      While also realising that comparing men and women never yields proper mental health.
      Comparing in general with anybody really too because everyone is different .
      Ya know?

      Guys gain flab (?) In different places i.e. stomach and chest... that's why you see older men with beer bellies etc

      I'm a woman and looked like a bobblehead at 14% bfp at 5'7" and 116. Too thin.

    How tall are you? Just curious. You look awesome and have about the same measurements and weight as I (in your before cut video) but I don’t look near as good. I am 5’3”

    How tall are u? This is interesting to me. I had a Dexa scan last summer that was 19% body fat and I was 154lbs at 5 feet 6. Everyone’s body is different of course.
