I had been overweight for years in response (almost retaliation) to struggles with eating disorders as a young child. But two summers ago I lost 30 lbs unintentionally and I was almost unaware of it until I noticed clothes looked different on me. I wasn't expecting to make a difference, because I was already following all the advice: only eating fresh, non-processed foods, focusing on vegetables, walking and hiking a lot. I'm still trying to figure out how it happened, but the top two factors were 1) starting a warehouse job that dramatically increased my level of activity and muscle and 2) starting intermittent fasting for digestive health. I refuse to ever start calorie counting again because that took over my mentality as a child. Now I am finding youtubers like you who are promoting a more holistic look at health, and improving relationship with food and exercise. Thank you for uploading.
I'm not as lean as Abby, but I lost 50lbs and my big tip is just don't eat out... it's too hard to guess calories from restaurants. Even if you pick the healthier option, it seems silly to pay $15 for such few calories (poor value).
Pick your favourite foods, get the hang of using spices (no calories in spices), mix them together, keep your meals simple, and measure everything.
It sounds like it sucks, but it wasn't bad at all, and very worth it.
What was the amount of time that you lost the 50? I'm trying to drop that amount right now too. Congrats, by the way, that is a very big accomplishment😊
If you use a weight loss app that counts calories like Lose It they have the verified amount of calories form different restaurants. Also a lot of restaurants put the amount on their menus.
Ugh my friends wanna eat out and I cant say no so lots of times I don't eat. Just watch lol.
Honestly, my rule for eating out- because it's ok to do it every once in a while, and balance is a huge key to sustainability- is that I only ever eat half of what I order. That way, even if you're eating a higher calorie meal than usual, you're not going way overboard. Plus there's research that shows that shocking your body by eating more calories than usual (within reason, of course) every once in a while will cause your body to get out of its "I'm 'starving' so I'm going to hold on to as much fat & calories as I can" stage and can actually help you lose more weight and fat long term.
@@AmericanThighs97 You mean you only order half of what you usually would?
I saw a comment on your Instagram of someone asking if you could make a video about you embracing your pale complexion when the fitness industry is very pushy about tanning. As a fellow pale redhead, I’d love hear your take on it too!! Or even just an Instagram post or video on Snapchat. Love you so much!!
Sarah R Oh my gosh YES please! Fellow pale skinned gal here (albeit blonde instead of red-haired!) ! That's something I've always loved about Abby and thought set her apart from the rest! 😊
I completely agree! I'm not red headed but I am very pale and completely understand her SPF jokes. I have noticed that she embraces it and I really admire it. I'd love a video on this topic!
Yes please! I’m a pale redhead too ❤️
Abby’s complexion is GORGEOUS and her natural hair is stunning. I follow so many fitness people but only Abby has this princess/natural model look about her. it’s so refreshing!!!!!
Would love to see this!!!
I've lost about 20 pounds too, thanks to your channel and intermittent fasting!
Nat's Corner THIS 🙌💗 I hope this video (and series) helps you keep that progress going!
you mean a calorie deficit :)
Oh please share us exactly what you did please!!
Be careful, going more than twelve hours without eating may be detrimental to women.
@@abbypollock what do you mean by 20mins of intervals on the treadmill? And what incline did you use on your 10min treadmill walk?
16:30 as an experienced chef I can tell you that not a single restaurant just puts "one serving" of sauce/dressing on the meal/salad. It's like 1.5-2 times as much
Yes. I am also a chef. I try to never eat out. The oil we cover everything in alone is enough to blow a whole day. Even the healthy stuff. Want an omelet for breakfast? Theres about a tablespoon of canola oil in that pain to make sure it doesn't stick.

Abby Pollock Do you happen to have the calorie calculator on a different program? The “sheets” app that you’re using is glitching out like crazy.
SarahSassafrasss yeah I haven’t been able to use that either
Britnee Sperry Ahh! Got it. Thank you!
Hard work pays off! I'm down 12 lbs in about 3 months, I've got about 58 more to go, but it's a process that's so worth it! I don't know ya, but I'm proud of you. It's so awesome when you can see and feel the awesome results.
How much you walk or exercise, I loose 10-15 lbs in a month. I actually lost 10lbs in a week .
Diesel wolf how?
@@hebaweba3304 apple cider vinegar diluted with water, but be sure to brush your teeth afterwards, and I ate one bag of oatmeal in morning, and a small salad in the evening, counting calories helps, and walking I walked everyday unless if was storming, for 5-9 miles, you have to walk off more calories than you consume, I use the map my walk app, it tells, you miles walked, and calories you burned, it's a free app and I highly recommend it. It helps you lose weight, but you have to commit, and be consistent. But also keep in mind, what works for me might not work for you. I see results in a week, the 1st week I lost 10lbs, the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, I lost 5-7 lbs. I walk for a whole month, everyday, I lost a total of around 20lbs in a month. From 135lbs to 113
@@dieselwolf3005 not sure this is sustainable. Such a strong caloric restriction and you may mess up your metabolism. Aim for 2lbs lost a week. Slow and steady is the way to go.I did what you described, lost 10 lbs for a wedding and immediately gained it all back.
@@helpmetosleep yea it does come back, I take chromium...it seems to help slow down how fast you gain weight, it helps support your metabolism, but you're right it don't stay off.
Love this. I haven't lost "weight", because I'm 0.6lbs heavier than 2 years ago this month, but I've gained 12 lbs muscle, lost 11 lbs fat, and lost 7.5% bf. I'm down to 18.3% bf, the lowest I've ever been. Thanks to you and other fitness gurus on UA-cam for helping me to learn how to train and eat, and to have a balance, I feel great. I don't feel deprived and I'm enjoying my workouts, and my meals, and I no longer obsess over either. Thanks Abby. On my way to getting even more shredded, slowly but surely.
My biggest annoyance is how I view my body changes so much. One day I think I look chubby and the next day I look frail. I'm so confused I think it depends who I work out with and looking at their body.
I genuinely dont know what i look like at this point
same bruh
I can totally relate! One day i feel lean and the next day the opposite..
Me too! 😩😩😩

My biggest want is losing the weight but keeping my butt lol
Together we’re A-Mayes-Ing watch her videos for building glutes
Same! Lol
Don’t do much cardio then. You’ll still lose weight doing weights. If you want to do cardio one or two days a week just do the treadmill or stair master.
Rachel J I’ll definitely do that I hate cardio anyway lol
Cardio and lots of carbs!
As a science major, I really appreciate you approaching this in a "scientific" manner-- & I know people have different goals, but i love how you take the time to share all your experiences so we can select what we do/don't want. Thanks once again!
when SADIE SINK grows up.. she might look like her IMO
Great tips in exercising, BUT the idea of tracking calories so closely is something I used to do with an eating disorder. I definitely can't do that, so I just try to make sure I eat 100+g of protein a day and try not to eat carb heavy foods. It seems to work really well!
Lindsay Sever that's waaay too much protein dude 😅 you know over eating proteins can be harmful too?
Lindsay Sever I mean I guess that depends on your weight. I just assumed average weight.
Not if you're building muscle, lots of research shows to eat 1g+ of protein for each pound of body weight. Either way I'm thriving!
Lindsay Sever An app called “Lose it” works great for tracking everything you consume i’ve been using it since last year an i have never once tracked my calorie intake before i started on this app.and i love it!
Lindsay Sever i
“Easiest”. Came for tips and I got calculus XD
Holley Jupiter ikr :))
Bro, passing my AP calc exam is easier than loosing my freaking pounds.
Samarie Navia cool story 😄 Let me know if it works out for you.
Do you know where to find the calculator?
I feel the same way! I lose 27 pounds since Feb. I wasn't even paying attention to my weight. Just making healthier choices, working out, and eating smaller portions!
I just started following you, AND wanted to say "thank you"! I already practice intermittent fasting until 1 or 2 PM. You have taught me so much in such a short period of time and now I'm addicted to your channel. Currently trying to get wedding ready and back on track after several surgeries, Graves Diseases, Thyroid Storm, and Thyroiditis. Again, thanks for being raw and real. Turns out that I actually like health and fitness!💪
This almost mirrors exactly what I did. I’ve finally lost nearly all the fat I’ve wanted to since January just by getting in at least 10,000 steps a day & making sure I eat less calories than I burn. Seriously the only difference is I’ve been taking walks in the morning lol. I loved the tip of staying away from the kitchen to avoid snaking, it really helped this week’s progress. Great video, this is seriously the recipe for success 👍🏻💕
How do you know your burning more than you eat?
I love how detailed your videos, I've recently been back in the gym after eating my body weight this christmas but you are one of my health guru's cause like the nerd i am I like to understand why I'm falling off. Thank you for being you and filming this, much needd!
That increased appetite makes so much sense now, I get so f**king hungry on my current workout program every few days
Showing how you estimated the calories was extremely helpful for me. I tend to be a little bit "type A" when it comes to stuff like calorie counting, so when I can't get exact numbers I feel defeated. This makes me feel like I can estimate successfully and still feel on track.
You strike me as a truly nice person. You have great charisma and none (at least I haven’t noticed in any of your videos so far) of the smugness. Thank you for sharing, for helping, for improving and being the way you are.
You're my favorite youtuber about diet and exercise because you take a scientific approach that I can trust
Its a good day when a new Abby Pollock video comes out. Not gonna lie, I used to not love your content because it did not feel relatable and felt kinda robotic with your dieting approaches. I still watched them and enjoyed them. But I LOVE your new changes and how vulnerable you are being, while still being scientific. Good job Abby!
Such a great video filled with so much info and well explained. Love it! So happy for you as well!
I tell my clients that cardio is not optimal for fat loss. And the reason is because science shows that it really increases hunger. I suggest that they decrease food intake, increase NEAT, and weight training. NEAT is huge, and very underestimated.
NEAT... not eating a ton??
erica s Non Exercise Activity Thermogenesis.
Rita Brito can you please give examples of NEAT ?
Thank you
Nawel Mehidi NEAT is what you do on a daily basis. Walking around, fidgeting, eating... everything that you do besides exercise.
Rita Brito wow, that’s interesting. When I lift weights it increases my hunger significantly. But cardio seems to make me less hungry . I guess we are all different.
I really like your advice to get nutrition right and then adding the fitness in gradually. It’s what I needed to hear right now. Going through exactly what you described. Planning to do easy walks with my three year old and not doing the treadmill workouts for a while.
I love how you bring in science and talk us through everything. It is so helpful and you bring so much light to fitness❤️❤️ love from London xx
How did you lose your “hip dips”!?
Ashia Ellean im pretty sure she has a vid on her channel for it :)
I do side leg raises
hip abductions are good for getting rid of hip dips
Ashia Ellean exactly.. m shocked how did she removed it 🤭😳.. hope she will make next vedio regarding her hip dips .. how did she manage to eliminate it completely 🤔🤔
@@essie. Yessss ❤
Great video! I think it's important to note that everyone's body is different. I live a sedentary lifestyle as I'm behind a desk all day. When the majority of my workout was weight lifting, yes, I was gaining muscles but also fat because I wasn't burning enough calories. My balance is an equal amount of cardio and weight training for weight loss and not just weight training.
So you’re training hiit in the morning, weight in the afternoon and walks at nite?
Every day ? Every day there is hiit and weights??
If you're an athlete level fitness person, that's what everyone is doing. For instance lift and then run. Or lift and then hit the heavy bag for 45 minutes. If you're a beginner or even an an average person still losing weight, you won't be doing that much. But it's not a shocking level of activity (in my opinion). Don't let it discourage you though, once you get to that level, it's what you'll almost have to do to push your body since it'll be so fit. You will get there if you train hard.
As a unfit individual, I would be dead if I did that suddenly. But I’ve worked last two months trying to just stay consistent with being active to exercising regularly and then going to gym and now currently working on having to work on sets/reps and split. I could never walk continuously even at the beginning. And now I could go on treadmill continually even on 15% incline walking or 5km/h for good 20-30minutes. My bodyWeight? It’s been 3 months Still the same. Not discouraged. Just happy that I’m closer to becoming healthier rather than panting for the 500m I used to walk.
I never really u der stand how people have so much time 😅 do they not have to work?
I´m not a pro athlete and I definitely don´t do it EVERY DAY but 6 days out of a week I have 120+ active minutes, on good day 200+ and my rest day still include some sort of workout so I don´t go below 80 active minutes a day. After this, having 2 workout classes a day doesn´t seem that much, trust me.
@15 pounds in 30 days so, would cycling and doing a 15 minute ab workout everyday be good? (I change up the ab workouts)
I’m 5’9 and I’m 180 and I’m pretty lean but I want to lose another 20-30 pounds. 150 is in the lower end of a healthy bmi for me.
I used to weigh 270 and I’ve lost the first 90 pounds on my own, I’ve just been at a plateau for a few years. This video really helped motivate me to push forward and lose my last amount!
I can help you out if you need anything :)
I am about an inch taler in the Same exact weight range as you. I feel you with this
Hi Abby. I just wanted to say how much I appreciate your channel and honestly your generosity when it comes to sharing all this information as well as tools like the macro calculator. I feel like a lot of other people require money for simple helpful tools like these. Out of the fitness channels i watch you are the most helpful. Especially when you give us the science and specifics on how things work and WHY they work. Im never bored when watching and you honestly make it feel a lot more attainable to get to a fitness goal. This has to be one of my favorite videos because feel like i would do the EXACT same thing you said you would do about falling off track. I would go hard in the gym whenever i would come but then i would stop and eat more. I could maintain weight for the most part but then i would never lose the weight i really wanted. This video makes so MUCH sense!! GAME CHANGER!!!
You rock, Abby! Thanks for being so dedicated!
Lu Bertolini Thank you for supporting 🤗 I want to make this series EPIC
This is exactly what I've done to lose weight in the past and are currently doing to lose. With all the wacky advice out there, it is refreshing to hear someone telling the process that works.
Cover her eyes, it looks like Reese Witherspoon talking
omg i cant unsee it now
Woah, that’s actually freaking me out lol
Hahaha so true.
I wanna give you a like but it’s 666 right now
really great discussion of calories in calories out. I've lost 65 pounds following those principles and your videos have been really helpful.
Congratulations! You look great!
angelexi thank you lovely 💗
Someone who actually sounds like she knows what she’s talking about. You’re awesome I subbed 😊
You’re such an inspiration , loved the video so much information 😍😍😍 , i need to get pen and a paper, sending you much love from Iraq
Aseel Suhail YES!!! That’s what I like to hear 🙈 I want you to learn and get new ideas 💗
Just purchased your "Lean Sculpting"-program and I'm so excited! I weigh 150 pounds and I really struggle with the stubborn fat on my thighs and bum, so I'm superpsyched to getting started with your help. Thank you so, so much!
Every time I try to do anything with my food like calculating calories, eating more small meals, etc, I end up really bad anxiety. I end up spend hours trying to figure out what to eat and how to stay balanced and make sure it’s something my kids will also eat. I finally get so stressed out I just give up after the second week.
Abby you look INCREDIBLE. And it's not just how your body looks, it's how amazing you obviously feel! I've been watching your channel for about a year now and these latest videos you seem your happiest and healthiest. I can't wait to see more like this in the future!
The 32 people who 👎🏼 this video don’t like/appreciate science.

Or they think she looked better before
Naw we just liked that before booty
Or people found the way she talked really frustrating
I am SOOOOOOO grateful the calculator includes a plant based analysis option! You are the best. The info you provide is amazing, and I love that you always keep it real and relatable 😘😘 you're awesome Abby!
You look amazing!!! Specifically after cardio at 10:23. I got my boobs done (several times, unfortunately) and yours are looking amazing on your frame. Not to be creepy or anything ;) just having gone through the changes associated with that surgery myself, I wanted to give you a quick shout out that you are looking awesome.
I purchased one of your plans about 2 years ago (I think), and it’s still one of my favorite workout plans to go to. This video is persuading me to hop on this plan too. Thank you for your honesty and content. (Edited to include the following): As I kept watching and you got into your full workout, I feel compelled to tell you that of all the fitness people I follow on UA-cam (and there are a lot), your content is always actually applicable. Meaning, you show exercises and form and give such great directions that you are one of the very few UA-cam creators whose content I can actually apply in the gym without looking up other references for understanding form and purpose of the exercise. It is so helpful!
Just came across your video. You are STUNNINGLY GORGEOUS!!! A true natural beauty.
I've just found you and I'm already in love. I'm also a pale, redhead with weirdly wavy curly hair that does what it wants, and if I'm not mistaken, you're Canadian? I'm so glad to see someone so beautiful who has similar features to me! It's not "industry standards" so I've gone through points of self consciousness with it all :( Also, I see you're an engineer! I'm not, but I'm working towards my DVM so I appreciate your educational posts :) I also like that you don't track your eating, it's not something I think I could EVER sustain, so I'm always looking for ways to eat healthy & get fit without that. Thank you again!
You’re literally the best. I always go to you for my fitness and I have for years. You keep me motivated and driven for fitness and Idk what I’d do without u! Love u stay amazing xoxo
This is so inspiring and u are literally drop dead gorgeous 😍😍
*stress caused suchhhh a weight gain for me over this past summer, but I was at my absolute leanest and fittest when I was 19! So I think I would just enjoy being at a stable weight, instead of going up or down depending on stress all the time* great video Abby! :)
Found this channel pretty early into my weight loss journey and this is all great to know! I gained 10lbs in self isolation and it shocked me into place, because even as a 6'2 trans guy 229 is too much, and I've deciding I'm losing weight. I cant calorie count because it leads to unhealthy habits for me, but I'm going pretty crazy on the cardio and training myself to eat intuitively. Less than a week in but I cant wait to keep watching this channel along the way. My goal is to lose 50lbs by next year but even losing 30 by then if that's what my body can handle I'll be skinnier than I've been in years
Abby I absolutely appreciate your channel and all your videos. not only are this super informative, they're also really help make you feel like you can *actually* manage to keep up the lifestyle.
I love how honest you are and also how quirky you are as well. 💪 Keep on keeping on 🙌
This may be kinda weird but I love your voice! It's so different and pretty
Woah. So a few years back I was on a similar journey. Lost a bunch of weight, started looking at Bikini competitions, and made sure to break down my macros. I felt amazing and (yes, sometimes very hungry - looking back I went a tiny bit too far with the deficit). But the breakdown you used in this video for food consumption was literally what I did... And.... regarded as psychopathic by my surrounding colleagues. This got so bad that at a certain point I had comments from men and women alike that stated I wasn't normal looking, no woman should look like this, and that I was giving young girls unrealistic body expectations by posting photos of myself. For reference I was at a 10% body fat range, and very much within a healthy weight for my age and gender.
The feedback though broke me. And it verged on bullying. Looking back now I realize I was on the right track, and I have let people who surround me influence a huge chunk of my life in the most destructive way possible. I am soo excited to jump back on this journey with love and empathy for myself. I'm thankful for the growth I've gone through as a young woman, to make me realize I could up my overall caloric intact, and take things a lot slower than what I was during by early teens. This excited the hell out of me. Thank you!
This is the only way I believe in for losing weight and not losing your mind doing it. Calorie counting is such a good way to understand bad snacking habits and to make changes everyday without completely cutting out foods. Thanks for the upload
This is the most helpful/motivating/realistic "weight loss" and lifestyle video I've ever watched. Thank you!
Very useful video for losing fat.
Furthermore, the cookie part was pure wisdom! thanks for sharing!
idsavo right?! It sounds so simple saying it now, but if someone told me that same thing about the cookie even last year I wouldn’t have really believed it. Balance is possible 💗
Abby Pollock Well, wisdom is something that is gained over long time.
The problem here is when we get obsessed by our goals and we forget to satisfy ourselves in the process.
However, it's hard to communicate with our body and mind 100% , also avoid getting tricked by any of them!
I always wish I could Super Like your videos!! The level of detail, effort and science you bring to everything you share with us is exactly what someone like me is looking for to feel confident in the methods and the process. You go above and beyond for us and I hope you know how much that is appreciated and how it makes you stand heads above the rest. Thank you and congrats on your own personal progress! xx
I feel like most of the video you were making it seem so strict and complicated to lose weight that I was just feeling overwhelmed and like I will never be able to lose weight but then at the end you mentioned that you can still eat normal food, I sorta wish you started that way
I needed this! Thank you for organizing all this info in a way that a total novice can understand. You’re the perfect mix of relatable and professional so it’s an instant follow from me! (Also unrelated but I’m obsessed with your coloring! So pretty!)
Your hair is pretty
I just found you on you tube and I just started a mid life" get the fat off journey! Trust me when I say that I have viewed many! Im so excited to start your method-this sounds real and possible! I just subscribed and im checking out the Team Beginner. Thank you for sharing-thank you for keepin it real!
This makes SOOOOO much sense now!! Thank you xxx
Finally someone who understands me! I've had 20lbs to lose for 4 years. 😬 What bothers me the most is that I was skinny and fit for most of my life. Even after my first 3 babies. But this time it's been SO hard (after my 4th). I totally did the going too extreme, then stopping, then doing it again. I realized I ended up having a bit of an eating disorder with binge eating because I'd deprive myself, and just an unhealthy relationship with food in general. I'm actually just as fit as always in regards to how much I lift and run. Just with 20 extra pounds. 😔 I've also noticed when I started being better at working out harder I'm hungrier and then eat more. I don't remember this happening before when I lost weight. At least it didn't last longer than a couple days. I actually don't remember it being hard at all before to lose weight. I just tried to eat relatively well and exercised regularly. I have tried working on just diet but it's hard to be 100% so now I'm trying to eat mostly well (and watching my calories) and adding in cardio and weights and we'll see if I finally get there. I think my problem too is if I don't see results quickly I get discouraged thinking I'm doing something wrong and I stop. Good luck to everyone on their health and fitness goals!
just do you!!! so what if you have 20 extra pounds, you’re still healthy and active!! you’ll gain back your confidence with food mama!!🥰 good luck! treat yourself well, you’ve had 4 babies!!!
Love this subject! Watching this while on the stair climber.
RealHammer25 YES!!! This is what I like to hear 🙌 I do exact same thing during steady state cardio lol
English is my second language and I love your articulate pronunciation. So easy to listen and understand💕 Love your contents and yourself too
First, you look fantastic! Second, thank you for representing the fair skinned girls. I have similar skin and think it is beautiful and that it doesn't get enough love. Third, your augmentation looks really good and proportionate to your body size. I had mine done about two years ago and love them! When the doc says it takes about 12 months for them to fully drop, it is true (but yours already look great), remember to message, I think this helped so much. Anywho, thank you for all the great and informative vidoes. Much love! 🤙💕
Kelly Hunt she's not representing fair skinned girls she's representing all girls who are comfortable and confident in their skin no matter what their color
Alex M It was a direct compliment to her personal beauty. Of course she is a role model for all girls 🙄
hahahahhaha wtf white girls have been the norm and goal for almost all of history... Just because you saw some tanned instagram model and got butthurt it doesn't mean that most of the world wouldn't die to be fair. It gets all the love. Jesus.
Tatiana Kabacoff l don't know how my compliment to her made me some how sound butt hurt about Instagram models tans, major assumption on your part. I simply was glad to see a girl with fair skin not feeling like she has to be fake tanned. I was teased a lot as a child for my fair skin and freckles. It made me want to always wear pants to hide it and then fake tan. Im just glad to see othee girls with confidence not feeling like they need to do that. You made it about race. Makes me wonder if I had complemented a darker skinned girl if I would have gotten the same rude comments 🤔
Kelly Hunt of course you wouldn't have gotten same comment, b. Don't know anything about lightning creams and racism? You may have gotten bullied, but your skin is still the norm and the goal.
Thank you so much for this video and woh the tip on how to estimate your portions to track calories. I’m in a situation where I can’t prep so I “intuitively” eat and I honestly never thought of this as a way to track my foods. Love you hun 😘😘😘
Thanks for always being so real and honest with us!!
Marwa Ahmadi I do my best 🤗💗
Abby your face has just been radiant and glowing! I love it you seem happy.
I cannot deal with the concept of counting calories. Too much work for me. I try to keep in mind the nutrition concept of the plate being 1/4 lean protein, 1/4 complex carbohydrate and 1/2 vegetables. Portion control each meal and not using added sugar. Also snacks include a veggie or fruit and a protein. That's the only way I've ever been able to lose weight.
A great plan for those with diabetes too, or trying to ward off diabetes as it keeps blood glucose stable
You look amazing, Abby!! These tips are so practical. I’ve always had the exact same challenge as you. Excited to try these new techniques 😊❤️
Hey 👋🏽 just wondering what tracker/app are you using for all of your analytics? Thanks for the video at 10:29

congratulations on your success. I just wanted to say that this is really healthy, balanced, well-researched information. Great job on not putting out more long term reasonable advise! Im sure ut will change someone's life!
"Avocahdoh" lol I enjoyed this video and the calculator!
You are an actual queen! Thanks for explaining everything so well
I neeeeeed to work on my NEAT. I feel like I should always be at my desk to look like I’m working 😓
I know you posted this a year ago so you've probably figured this out, but if anyone else out there is looking for suggestions: a bosu ball instead of a chair is the solution. Each bounce counts as one step (on every fitness tracking device I've ever owned!!), so when I'm on the phone or reading my monitor, I bounce away and it increases my NEAT.
Or, petition for a standing desk. This is probably the most healthy option!!
I had a baby end of March & look forward to loosong 40 pounds! Thx for your videos
I'd love to have the money to get that program now!
You rock 💕
There’s no rush, we’ll be waiting 💗 I’m working HARD to make this UA-cam series as helpful and informative as possible, so that even if you’re not quite ready to join the team you still make amazing progress.
Abby Pollock we can tell! But get in the program would be like the best way to say THANKS, for all the info you share with us💕❤️
Great video Abby 👍!! Very informative. I’ve recently had to take a 3 week hiatus and gained most or all of the weight back that I had lost. It’s very frustrating but I definitely have another challenge and the satisfaction again of getting those results. You look amazing!! Love all of the science. Keep up the awesome work!
Wow thank you for making this video!! I did the same with upping the intensity in my cardio workouts and could NOT figure out why I've been feeling SO hungry!! (Even thought am I pregnant? 😂) Your videos are always so helpful and I learn so much. So many good tips.
Hey I love you and your video so much!! My best tip for dressing is to order it on the side and ask for a specific dressing, they usually put around 2 tablespoons in the side container and you will know which dressing you will get and because dressings are pretty random in calories this will make it easier!
I am on a weight loss journey. It was easier to lose weight when I only did cardio. Now that I'm lifting weights it's harder to lose the lbs but my body looks toner than when I only did cardio.
Charmaine Espeut it might be ur replacing the fat you lose in lbs with muscle. Maybe check your body fat percentage?
Andrea Luna Yes I'm losing fat, I lost 8% body fat but the scale is stubborn. It pisses me off. I'm going vegan to see if that will help
Don't hold on to the scale so much! When you work out harsd, you will gain muscle thus weight. Try to use the mirror to see if you want to change something instead hold on to a number!
Also, I have been vegan for 2.5 years and never felt better. I am toned, energized and healthy; hope it will work for you as well!
Samantha Thank you!
I absolutely love every video you upload! Not only does it teach me a lot about fitness and nutrition, but it also motivates me to push myself more to be a better me!
lots of love from europe xx
It looked like you didn't have enough protein in your day, tho I'm sure you didn't ignore protein. How did you meet those goals? I feel like I'm shoving food in just to get my protein goals.
Hillary Farley protein is really not that important...
I completely disagree. Protein is the foundation for muscle growth and repair to say the least. Our bodies use protein to do a thousand essential things. I think Abby has more than one video on the subject.
Hillary Farley Ive built alot of muscle with my main focus being complex carbs and yes high carb meals tend to contain a good amount of protein, then you have your legumes, beans, nuts and veggies, fruits etc trust me if you focus on your micro nutrients, your macros nutrients will fall into place.
Hillary Farley Of course you need protein, but if you look at any scientific study you'll see that the amount that is popular to eat right now is highly exaggerated. I know so many people who think that 200g a day is a minimum, when about half of that is what you need to build muscle. And of course if you try to eat 200g protein that will add calories to your day. I actually build more muscle when I clean bulk with about 100g protein a day and mainly complex carbs, fruits and veggies, than I used to do when I ate huge amounts of protein.
Embla De Farfalla I think then that what we mean by "important" is different. I mean that it's important enough to eat at least 100 g a day. In my experience, most people don't understand protein even THAT well. Protein does take effort when you've been raised to compensate with carbs... or starve for weight loss. (read: me)
You eating the cookie made me feel so much better! I had two white chocolate chip cookies today but still ate 1500 calories and ate heathy! Thanks for reminding me that it’s okay to have cookies/treats
What's the tune in the beginning of the video? Anybody?
This is the first helpful video that actually made sense when it comes to calorie deficits!!
Hey Abby! I've been following your videos for a while, and I really like your mentality on not being too restrictive, or obsessive but cutting the BS at the same time. :D Could you show what a day in your life looks like, or what would you suggest for us with a 9-5, 8-4 whatever job?
I'm especially thinking about office jobs, where you sit all day, but you still get mentally exhausted. Cause I feel like even when I get myself to go the gym all I want to do is power walk on a treadmill, listen to loud music and relieve stress so I make sure I won't go off on anyone that day. :"D But this would take like 1 hour, and it won't give me the best result... So how would you schedule, and what type of work out for when you are mentally exhausted, and how would you make that efficient?
Could you go to the gym before work? That's what I do and it helps my temperament with everyone haha
ABBYYYY you’re amazing and my fitspo FOR SURE! The most real way to be fit and I love it!! You are such an amazing gal, much love! 💜
I'm really struggling at the moment. I've been going to the gym for 2 years but I'm really 'skinny fat'. All on my stomach. I know there's muscle there it's just removing the layer of fat on top. I have no problem dieting, I love dieting but I lose the weight every where else
Victoria Alexandra try cutting sugar if you haven’t already
@@screamingminnow920 does that count for fruit? Thanks for replying
Victoria Alexandra i dont think fruit sugars are digested the same as artificial, google it lots of people have put up good stuff about sugar and the benefits of avoiding it
I absolutely love you and your videos! You are so down to earth, smart and inspiring!!!! I have watched so many health and fitness videos and you are by FAR my favorite UA-camr. Thanks for being so real and kind. Keep posting and being amazing
I totally throught BMR was bowel motion routine
Thank you for putting in so much hard work for each and every video. I love how the focus is on health rather than aesthetics. new subscriber !! :)
Can’t find that calorie tracker shown at 6:12 - can anyone help?
You’re amazing and you really inspire me to eat healthy, but also have a treat every day. Something that was hard for me to do, but now I enjoy it!!
Hey Abby I noticed your collarbones also straightened out in your before vs after pictures. Did you do anything in particular or is this just a difference in posture?
Girl you need to do a hair tutorial and clothing haul. Your look is 👌🏻
The biggest factor is when you eat. I really started to make breakthroughs when I started delaying my first meal of the day. It's really effective. You end up eating much less overall.
I do the same. It's called intermittent fasting. My first meal is usually around noon. So I have a window where I fast for 16 hours (sometimes more) and have about an 8 hour window where I eat. I've lost weight, feel more energized, and I feel like my focus and clarity have improved.
You're so informative and you have your info backed up with some science and that helps me. Your body is goals and thank you SO much for sharing all your advice and research you've learned and have applied that youve proven helps.
