    THANK YOU! Jeez...can't tell you how many "How to layer" videos I've watched on YT and they don't actually tell you HOW to layer. I appreciate others sharing their favorite layering combos but they don't say what the best way to layer is. I know, layering...one on top of the other...but is it more nuanced than that is the question I was trying to find the answer to. Thanks so much for the super detailed video Ashley.

    Ashley, this is such an incredible & detailed video on layering fragrances. People always talk about layering fragrances but I have never heard anybody explain it the way you did in this video. It is so helpful. Your content is different than everyone else. You will have over 100K subscribers very soon.

    Great video for me to hear. I use to think layering ruins the original fragrances that you are layering together. However, a while ago I accidentally Layered Gucci Guilty Absolute with Nishane Afrika olifant, and man did that smell phenomenal! Hearing an educated perfumer's perspective helps me realize even more how I've been missing out. Thanks Ashley.

    I keep saying it but you keep delivering - another amazing video! Everything is well explained and makes perfect sense. I love your stance on layering. Perfumers don't make fragrances for 1 specific consumer. They make them for brands and that almost always means mass appeal. Because of that it's perfectly fine to love a scent but to still want to tweak it so it would suit your taste, personality and lifestyle better.
    Also - kudos for improving the audio and video quality!

    My thoughts exactly. Creativity is essentially why I started to layer, stack, pair and blend fragrances. Moreover, many "complete" fragrances often feel incomplete to me. And because I wanna smell like what I wanna smell like...then I layer away! 😄 Definitely takes some trial and error to find the right combos though. Incidentally, the demonstration in the vid is what I would class more as a pairing (side-by-side, any surface) rather than a layering (one on top of the other, same surface), stacking (one on top of the other, different surface) or blending (in a vial). From my experience, all 4 can have very different results.

    • @ashleyinparisvideos
      @ashleyinparisvideos  2 роки тому

      Yes absolutely! It's interesting how different the results can be dependent on how you mix things. Thank you for sharing your experience!

    I have experimented with layering only once with Bentley for Men Intense and Cremo Spice and Black Vanilla. It turned out well because both were sweet and boozy. But I sprayed them onto each other which made the Bentley become somewhat dominant over the Cremo. Most of my collection is beastly so there's no danger in experimenting.
    Tomorrow I'm gonna layer my CK Reveal with my Leau Dissey which are both fruity. And then I'll try my Sauvage Parfum with my Mont Blanc Legend Spirit which are both fresh scents. This mix is Parfum vs EDT but I think I can pull it off because Legend Spirit is a strong performer, and as long as I don't spray them onto each other. After this I'll try contrasting scents.
    Great video👍

    Thank you for making this video ! Ive always been a rule breaker and have no shame layering . Its like putting an outfit together and so fun to experiment push boundaries. Really been having fun with Mancera Instant crush inner arm and neck original spice bomb closer to wrist . and last two quick sprays of Fredric Male Promise on the back of my neck . None overlap in the spray areas. Catching the vanilla of Instant Crush and the Rose of Promise at different moments of the night is amazing. Spice bomb I just like having along for the ride

    I have Guerlain Rose Barbare and BR540 extrait. Annoyingly enough, I get a bit of cigarette smell from BR540 for the first couple hours on me but then it settles to a nice sweetness that’s lasts for nearly 24h. So when layered with Rose Barbare…OMG, it’s like the gates to heaven because the Rose Barbare helps me skip over the ciggy phase with its edgy loveliness that lasts 6-8h, and after that, the BRK540 sweetness takes over. I got the idea to layer these two because the nose behind both is Francis Kurkdjian. I really needed a way to cross over from office wear to evening wear for those long days of offsite meetings with colleagues that start 8am and go till 8pm. I also don’t like to refresh perfumes mid-day because it’s so obvious and I’m often the only female in a room of 10-20 men. My re-upped perfume is not what I want to be noticed for…if you know what I mean.

    I spray one fragrance on the back of one hand and one on the back of the other when testing layers. That way i can smell them separately, or put my hands together and smell both at the same time.
    I also like to try to pair fragrences with similar sillage and projection, but different longevity. You can make a more dynamic scent that way as one fragrence acts as the "top notes" and wears off first and leaves the "base notes" of the longer lasting fragrence behind.

      I would say it doesn't matter if you're spraying in different sections, but it's generally more difficult to layer fragrances of different concentrations. I honestly find layering to be a middle finger to the creator of the fragrance . It's as though they were so inadequate that their creations need to be layered to achieved the desired effect.
