I agree with the Crusader Kings II Warhammer Mod Geheimnisnacht's opinion on the reproductive issue for the high elves. Because they are so close to the Vortex, the Chaos energies is lowering the fertility rate for all who live in it. That's why the dark and wood elves don't have the same recorded issue when they are all the same species.

My brothers High Elf Silverhelms were the first wargaming models I ever saw back in early 6th Edition. He gave me Trollslayer to read. I started Dwarfs after reading Skavenslayer & Daemonslayer (although almost started Skaven) and have been hooked on the Warhammer universe ever since. Now I have models for every 8th Edition army/Mordheim warband heaps of novels and the full set of WFRP (2nd Edition) Books (even running a campaign for some friends atm).
I too remember Warhammer Online fondly. I was one of the few players who played a High Elf Shadow Warrior into the late game.
oh man i palyed a swordmaster through and through.. i got so good at swapping between 2H/Sword'n'board in pvp fights. I remember a friend of mine and i taking out this group of 4.. i used to play MMOs so much, like Turin and I would go HAMMMMMMM on WoW, so that kind of combat always appealed to me.
but your brother taught you well ;) you were raised in the fires of a great game man.. i'm glad you're still enjoying it and holding onto pieces of it here and there- i hope this can keep some of it alive for you
I remember rocking the Scenarios and PVP with my Shadow Warrior and topping kills every game. I had a rule that I must keep my renown within 1 level of my character at all times (until T4 where it ceased to matter). I got so good at swapping stances, I remember taking out Melee DPS/Tanks in melee quite a bit as they'd finally catch up to me only to have my armour double (from melee stance) and then receive a bunch of swords to the face. Miss that game sometimes. It went downhill pretty soon after the Land of the Dead expansion. By the end I'd played every single class until at least T3.

Aah, elves.. So precious! I don't know what to pick, honestly. I collected High Elves and Skaven with a handful of Orks and Bretonnia and I think I had like.. One package of Dwarf Warriors for some reason too, along with the Lizardmen that came with that big Bretonnia package back in the day. I love the discipline of the High Elves, straight up Lord of the Rings formations, but the Skaven are just.. Argh! Perfection.. But then you have dinosaurs with the Lizardmen and I mean... C'mon, floating toads and dinosaurs?! .. And then they add Dark Elves too, with their sexy witches and just.. All around badass repeater crossbows and what-not. ;-; I've never been so bloody conflicted in my life before, when it comes to picking a faction to start with in the Campaign. (Edit: Not to mention Norsca, my viking ancestors!)

Argh, I know! I KNOW! But like.. Then you got the lil' cuddly bastards and their poison grenades and what-not. WHAT IF THEY ADD THE BIG WHEEL?! Huh?! I'd feel like a fool with my disciplined, rank and formation pretty elves in shiny suits, while that wheel o' death comes rolling down the hill at me with screeching and taunts! ;-; + I really wanna bring down a moon to see my lil' guys get a fix..

Dwarves are supposed to have a similar rate of reproduction to high elves I think. Technically the Dark elves to, but that's where things get dumb, since they supposedly kill each other like crazy, live in a way more inhospitable climate, and regularly preform risky raids against all factions, and yet have a comparable population to the more peaceful sensible high elves. It don't make sense 🤔
as was joked, "the elven race is comprised of as many elves as the plot requires"
ItalianSpartacus it's one of those things I sort of just ignore and quietly headcannon out of existence along with the miscast to cast rate of wizards, and the literally impossible reported living conditions of Bretonnian peasants.
@@GrimgoreIronhide Yeah. I head canon the Elf 'decline' is more like a decline of political influence, like the fall of IRl Colonial Empires. As realistically, the Old World should suffer population issues since they are regularly attack by half a dozen factions every few years or so while the Asur only deal with their Dark Elves counterparts and the occasional Norscan raiders.
@@fbiuzz For the elves I would say thats a good headcannon, esppecialy if, like me you look at Warhammer through the lense of wanting to make it more plausable as a living world rather than as ticking clock thats just waiting for the apocalypse.
The Old word shoud be fine popuation wise. It depends on the era of course but if you read the books its made very clear that for most of imperial history people go multiple generations without seeing major incursions from destruction factions. The countdown timer for a new Orc Waaagh is usualy not measured in years, but in decades, and ocasonaly centuries. There is more often than not trouble with one or two of the major enemys of humanity, but this is usualy on a provincial scale and handled without the involvment of the entire faction.
Basically if Orcs invade Wissenland, the Wissenlanders usualy take care of it and all the other Imperial states even notice is an uptick in prices on goods from Wissenland.
Exept in times of sevear general crisis which come around every 500 years or so human civilization takes care of itself pretty well, and is in fact generaly expanding.
Um what? What the hell is a skaven? Lmao this might be my favorite part of the lore. The refusal to accept the existence of the rats.

Ulthuan is not.... Are you sure of that?
I mean, it's a fantasy world, so no I'm not sure of anything, but in theory I'm pretty sure. At least if I'm remembering correctly. It's one of the reasons why there isn't a skaven or goblin presence in Ulthuan, because it's not connected to anything. It's just magically suspended in the ocean.

Would the traveling court of the Ever Queen be the Warhammer Fantasy equivalent to the Warhammer 40K Harlequins?
Nayy, there wasn't a mystique about them really and they weren't really guardians of some hidden knowledge.. More of a ceremonial procession
I doubt that CA will make so much detailed map of Ulthuan - with special places and factions which are on this map at the beginning.
Excellent video! I love the High Elves. They are the Warhammer army that I usually play on the tabletop game. I was actually painting some of my units while watching this. Interesting coincidence right? Ha Ha.

For the armor I for myself like the combination between a mix of dark reaper & black with russ & fenrisian grey as highlights and edge. I like that more than the typical eshin grey stuff..
And it is still a shame GW did not re-publish the original Maiden Guard, only this unit that did not even have musicans....

That one! the latter! So the High Elves expanded into the old world, and after the war of the beard- which knocked out a considerable amount of the presence of the elves in the old world AND the sundering, all elves were called back to the hinterland.

It was also somewhat the result of a deal between Durthu and Aenarion's first wife, I believe. As daemons were sacking Avelorn, Aenarion's wife pleaded with Durthu to save her children by taking them through the Worldroots to Athel Loren (which was a big deal, because up to that point the Worldroots had never been traveled by a non forest-spirit).
Durthu agreed, and saved the children, but told their mother that there would be a price - Athel Loren would one day claim some of the elves as its own. Eventually, that day came: High Elves and Dark Elves both felt the call of Athel Loren, and after settling there, refused to leave when the High Elves retreated from the Old World like Italian Spartacus said 🙂

Fun fact that the Skaven have actually invaded Ulthuan. Granted none are successful but they have done it. Hunted to the last ratman and all breeders slaughtered

Can you shed some light on empire high elf diplomatic relations ?? has Karl Franz met Tyrion or Teclis? Do they war, do they provide military aid to each other? are there any battles in the lore with both armies involved?
+BATTERIESc so!! Great question! I would say that teclis has absolutely met Karl Franz. Teclis taught the humans how to use magic to assist in the fight against chaos from that angle of the world. So he effectively helped start the college of magic in altdorf. There is very strong relations with the empire and ulthuan as a result. Yes they do fight each other every so often though.. Ulthuan is very protective of their own so there's been battles here and there but no real huge wars.

in the lore, in an elven free for all, who would win, dak elfs, hihg elfs or wood elfs?
i don't know the wood elfs are not pushovers, they have 2 avatars of the elven gods, and the treeguys, that are not pushovers
dark elves probably- they ended up being rated higher in TT at the end of 8th, just because they were geared SO much towards killing with their monsters being a pretty huge contributor.
Agree with spartacus , but for the fact that dark elves reproduce faster : that allows them to replenish more and have big armys.
Also the north barbarians tribes from both chaos wastes and norsca are easy for the druchii to bribe and use .
i trust you on this, never played TT...and now it's gone so i can't even start...
BTW: i was speaking mostly...in lore, in the "real" warhammer world, like based also on nubers, resources ecc...
yeah that's thing, i'll put my monew on the treeguys tho, adn here's why
1) they have mobility via the world roots
2) they are united under a god kind/queen so very high morale
3) said godly presences are very potent in a war plus all the tree ancient could do a very good jod in salying monsters,
4) athel loren is not an easy prey to take, so a strike in the wood elves homeland would be hard
5) they could just srike fast and retreat both their opponents luring them one against the other and them come and clean the field
only problme i see for the wood elves are dragons, beacuse wood burns nicely...and the treefolk is th ebig game cahnger in this situation imo
Also, the dark elves would be at the biggest disadvantage, sure they could defend well but i can't see them moving out with all their forces without being crushed by the high elves navy (which as far as i know is stronger than the dark elves' one) and having to fall back as soon as a wood elves army materialise in naggaroth (and this already happened)

This is kind of late, but, why does Finubar is not a legendary lord such as Karl Franz?
every phoenix king AFTER aenarion has been less and less of an actual fighter. karl franz has been known for many a year to be quite the accomplished combatant. in fact, he becomes the incarnate of the lore of heavens in the end times!
so finubar is all about diplomacy and policy!

Spartacus was a slave gladiator that in a escape of slaves from an arena training mansion gather them , free more slaves and then use this army for raid villages in the province of magna graecia (south italy) .
Then the roman senate send a legion that have destroyed them and then crucified the prisoners to the road that brings to Rome.
