Great video, Pep... 100% on HRRP, love it. Back up bottle sauce! The drydown on it reminds me of the inside of my mom's purse: back in the early 1970's she used a red leather purse, and the smell of the inside of it was magical ~ leather, a travel size Chanel No 5, various makeup, a smaller leather coin purse and assortment of various flavored chewing gums like Teaberry & clove. All of that mixed together to create an incense'y accord mixed with the leather. A scent I hadn't really thought about until I purchased HRRP and got to the drydown, at which point my brain kind of kicked into a heavy "wait, what? I've smelled this before" moment.
When I smelled Black Lacquer in the department store last week, it reminded me immediately of Tom Ford's discontinued Noir Anthracite, which was also features prominent notes of ebony wood and smoke. Not identical, of course, but in the same ballpark.
High praise for Rouge Prive! Doesn't quite top the edt for me, but it's easily a runner up. And that new TF does seem to be living up to the buzz doesn't it.... 🤔 Always appreciate your input Pep.
Hey Pep, hope you’re good? I’m shocked with what you said about prive- I’ll be interested to see what you think when you go back to the EDT. I tried black lacquer on a card but need to spray it on skin before I can decide how I feel about it.
I'm not sure if you are the one who mentioned Olfactif Studios Woody Mood, but I just snatched up a tester. I know the mention must have come from a trusted reviewer, I mean, who covers Olfactif Studios anymore. I also picked up Kenzo's Jungle. We are heading into the colder seasons up here, so I thought it might be a good pick. I got a free tester of Kenzo. I thought it would be garbage, nope. I haven't sampled Geurlain's Habit Rouge Prive. I'm just going to grab a bottle. I did pick up on your recommendations Heritage and the original Habit Rouge, plus Vetiver. Very pleased with all. I keep picking up partials of the Listerin Vetiver. Little bit excited? Fantastic. The days of snagging samples from major Dept's are almost over. At least here in the States. People are just grabbing bottles off the counters and are walking out with them. Either the dept stores don't have them or they are locked up in a cage. The last major dept store that has them out, in abundance, is Macy's. The last time I went to the mall, someone grabbed two testers and just walked out in front of me. I started going after him, but my friend behind the counter told me not to. That same exact day, after I left Macy's, right outside their door, a woman was screaming at another woman who was working a Kiosk. The language, and all in front of her 3 to 4-year-old child. Then I went to a bathroom adjacent to the food court to wash up before I ate, and a homeless dude was changing from his old clothes into tagged ones. I assume they were not paid for, for he was pulling them from his pants. Right after, I ordered a nice NYC-style slice of pizza, and a fight broke out between these teen girls. Hair pulling etc. The crazy part is some people were laughing and started recording with their phones. You know, that's the same mall I was gifted that tester of Kenzo, not that long beforehand. It's crazy here in the US. Crazy. Insane. I'm not going to that mall anymore. The good times I had are gone. I'm glad neither of those girls fell and hit their head on a corner or something. Why, two lives ruined. All for what. Well, that's my story of the last time I went to a mall. There were 4 different, no 5 if you count the body shop, that carried perfumes. I would spend an afternoon just sampling, and of course, picking something up. I used to pit them against each other to see who would have the best perks. I've gotten so many lotions and creams and designer perfume bags, plus extra 10 ml travel bottles, I loved it. Anyways, I've rambled enough. Always thank you Pep for being honest.
@@TheScentinel There are not the malls left as there once used to be, so I believe everything gets condensed. I know how items are locked up in cities like NYC, San Fransico, Chicago, I just didn't expect that to be like that here. Dillards, a Dept store in the US, used to have all their testers out on the counters so that you could try some on. Sephora has nothing out either. Everything is locked up. You used to be able to get three samples a week from Sephora. Nope, not anymore. Macy's is the one the guy took the testers right in front of me. They still have bottles out. I just hope they don't start locking up laundry soap like they do in the big cities. I'm sure they won't. Walmart does lock up baby formula now. Flashlights, batteries, etc? I've seen people just walk out with big TVs. Walk right out like it's no big deal. If you get the chance, look up NYC and theft. Targets have all closed in these areas. They sell it right out in front of the stores they stole from. Going to sample some Mysore sandalwood. I love the stuff. Oh, I should be getting a necklace of Australian sandalwood soon. Excited.
How have you found the newer versions of habit rogue. The new square bottles smell a fair bit different to me. Especially up close, not as fizzy either.
Leather Jardin is the perfect autumn scent to me. Usually wearing it on rainy days as it is doing wonders when combined with the petrichor smell.
How can I get Leather Jardin? I’ve been looking everywhere 😢
Been loving Rouge Privé a lot lately!

The chewing gum and leather.
Thank you for leaving a nice comment.
@@ScottCutshall what a lovely scent memory

I suppose I need to try Sable Nuit!
Black Lacquer definitely has my attention. A striking new Tom Ford Private Blend scent is an unexpected surprise!
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Nice personal reviews.
Where did you manage to buy Hibit Rouge Privee in Australia?
