This is by far the best explanation I have seen regarding the BSM delete. Question - does the Old tensioner get re-used at all or can it be scrapped? If the latter, how does the new tensioner for the ALH engine attach?
The 1.9 tdi oil pump is so much simpler .it even looks simpler. a chain from the crank shaft turning a sprocket which is pumping oil I have an Audi a5 2.0 tdi caha engine code the oil pump went and the turbo I got a reconditioned turbo and I got a balance shaft oil pump delete now I have a chain driven oil pump .an oil pump should not have any balance shafts an oil pump is for pumping oil around the engine not for balancing the engine that's stupid.and it only costs 700 euro to do 470 for the oil pump and the rest for labour better than a new engine.
Have you got your oil pressure measured after the delete? Because some people are saying here that oil pump is turned at half engine speed instead of twice engine speed. It should reduce oil pressure then right?
Don't DRY START the engine. Always change the oil filter first then buildup oil pressure using the starter with the injectors disabled or by starting then engine to bleed all the air out. Biggest wear on the engine happens every startup after changing oil and filter. That's the only time the engine makes several revolution without any oil pressure. When oil filter is removed the oil in the pickup tube drains back to the oil pan. Before oil pressure buildup air in the pickup tube and oil filter still needs to go out. Air can be compressed, tensioner will be jackhammering the chain & guide.
I own a 2006 2.0 TDI Audi A4 B7 the previous owner had the hex drive on a gear driven engine (not chain) fail, and sold the car as spares or repairs and I bought it with a repaired oil pump, plus new turbo and loads of other stuff. VAG has a massive issue with these and won’t admit it! Other than that it’s been a lovely car, pleasure to own and drive for the past year, but there are so many out there being sold as spares or repairs with blown engine- if you own one of these you are sitting on a ticking time bomb. I would get the hex shaft replaced every hundred thousand miles as part of a “service” ...trouble is that means sump off and a bit of expense....
As the hex key wears it begins to wear the oil pump as well. The estimated mileage for failure is 80-100k miles but replacing the hex key doesn’t mean you will get the same mileage out of it as the worn oil pump will wear the new hex key faster. My hex key failed at 99k miles (before I could arrange getting it checked/changed). Cost £125 to replace as nothing else was damaged. 50k miles it failed again and that time it took the pump and turbo with it. £180 for a new turbo core and £500 to have the damaged oil pumped modified to never fail again. I suspect the hex key has been secured into the balance shaft side so acts as if one piece. Currently dealing with a separate engine issue so transferring the modified oil pump onto a replacement engine.
Hey nice video... great information, but how do i detect if my car has this failure... and how do i buy the new system you recommend Thanks found the info on your website... But i do have a question does the kerma kit is compatible with an audi 2.0 tdi 2008?
Hi, I have a quick question, is it true that if the VAG low pressure oil tester is used instead of the sensor there's the risk of breaking the timing chain? I've had an incomplete diagnostic done at a VW service and the engineer stopped the mechanic in performing the operation, so I was unable to know if I had a failing oil pump or not.
Great video..I am picking up my new old car it's an Audi A6 Avant 2.0 tdi manual gearbox..I am worried about the oil pump failure. What else do I need to do to make it bullet proof. I am in the UK.
I personally would not do this delete. It will greatly reduce the refinement of these diesel engines. Most in the UK, with these engines, who have fixed this problem have used a much better over engineered aftermarket solution from www.kmbpartsdirect.co.uk, which has proven to be a lifetime solution, and retains the balance shafts. There is another solution, similar, from Poland www.futurum.net.pl/galeria/. Although the design was bad in the first place, it was not helped by 'Longlife Service' intervals, recommended by VAG, since there are quite a few 200K+ mile 2.0TDI Audis and other similar engined VAG cars, still out there that have never had the pump changed, that presumably were lucky enough to have more regular oil and filter changes, throughout their lives. I would make sure you change the oil and filter in these cars every 6K or at the very least 10K miles.
Wouldn't be enough to cut the assembly in half so you keep the gears reduction and remove the balance weights this way also the sprocket and tensioner won't have much load to break?
i have a c6 2.0 tfsi. oil pressure light came on and i very stupidly carried on driving! car stopped on its own. garage replaced tensioner kit and chain as it was mashed up. then changed the oil pump. however one week driving and the sign came up again! now really not sure what to do. the garage seems a bit clueless now too. im thinking maybe its the sensor or sending unit which is faulty? or maybe they didnt replace the hex key? or theres debris in oil pick up screen? sigh
hello i have a 2004 golf that i got innto a accident a year ago the pan was hit the gear on the balence shaft also got hit and slightly bent trowing the chain off i shut the car off immediately once i was home it got stuck on the trailer getting it off i looked q wick saw no oil leaking (hole covered by broken bumper hood jammed shut ) i started the car no oil light i gave it a few 2000 rpm dumped the clutch reversed off the trailer the next day i started it moved it ahead 6 feet still no ligth or odd sound then found the 2 inch hole in the pan so in total i figure about 3 minutes run time after the crash with a few 2000 rpm rev do you think that doing a delete kit and pan the engine would be good
"module improvement". car we performed this would call "downgrade" made over 60k miles with no problems and made this car to pass 300k miles range with no problems. person who ignored this removal of missengineering junked his 275k miles passat. good point Thanks
Good video! As usual, the Germans cannot make something without making it overly complicated, which then leads to failures... ( my mother was full blooded German origin, so I'm not knocking the people ). But there is no other reason needed to just buy highest quality Japanese cars. ( not all of them are highest quality, my opinion ). Hard to beat a Lexus these days !
Hello, so i need to replace completly oil pump from 1.9tdi or only chain and tensioner? What you think about Euro 2.0tdi BMM Engine 140hp 8valve with dpf filter, 2007year is that engine have problems with oil pump? and can i diagnose somehow if i need to replace or it's good to do that when you buy car for safe reason.
Oil pressure issue on my mk1 Tiguan 5n1 2.0Tdi.. Changed the pump, pressure switch and still same issue. Opened up oil filter, started engine on no oil spilling out which brings me to this video thinking I have to remove all off again and check shafts. What a head ache, been off the road two months now, and working full time as Mot tester, dad to twin toddlers too I just don't have the time. So your recommendation to check shafts and key is the next step as mines gear driven on a 2008 model and chain and sprocket driven
If the automatic tensioner is broken. Does it ending up some of the tiny parts in the oil pump filter and cause a oil pressure? Just wondering, because when the mechanic clean the oilf pump filter and some of the plastic pieces witch I suppose is a bit from automatic tensioner is Blocking the oil and some other tiny sand metal pieces. And then when we pump the gas Pedro to 4-5000/rpm it give a little ticking sound in a short period, but only in high rpm. How much does is cost to change the tensioner and the labor time? Appreciate the answer

shadowboybass no, yours is gear driven, he says this in the first minute. Service it regular and don't worry about it. The newer Cr engines are pretty bullet proof.
Only BKP BMM BMP HAVE oil pomp problem i have BMP Vw 2.0TDI 140 ps and I have this problem The kneaded rack at the pump, and it obliterated the same as turbo.
Those balancing shaft, are they part of the oil pump? Is it hard to replace? Because i,m experiencing oil pressure problems on idle and have red that that’s a common problem. I have audi a4 b8.
Oil pressure warning light came on my Audi yesterday and I still drove 2 miles before I stopped it. I heard some noise coming from the engine side but car was driving OK apart from light and little noise thats when I stopped. Car been towed to the garage and its going to be repaired. Mechanic said engine should be OK is there any chance engine still be OK? Thanks
Deleting the balance shaft on the 2005 VW 2.0 TDI does vibrate a little more, but also makes more noise on acceleration. Just did mine yesterday, and there is a huge difference in engine sound at idle. The engine sounds so much better, like you know for sure it's running correctly. Upon acceleration to merge in the freeway though, is where you hear the biggest change. The engine produces more noise for sure. So far so good though. I also did the water pump, timing belt, tensioner and engine mounts, as mine had 290k miles on them and they were worn out. Will keep everyone posted on performance and sound.
We just got an 05 Passat with the BHW engine how hard is it do? I want to get the ALH delete kit and can you do it with engine in the car? If you had a shop do it what did it cost if you don’t mind me asking?
Does that frame not help stiffen the block??? in the UK there was an engine called a K series, it relied on the big end caps that were all cast in one piece to stiffen block!!
Hi, I have a 2012 VW Passat tdi bluemotion engine, it has a rattle at startup and wonder if this could be the cause. The noise is generally there a second after starting and rattles for a couple of seconds. And primarily when cold, after running & warming up needs to sit for a while for the noise to be there again. Thanks
@myturbodieseldotcom could you tell me if i can also install the delete kit in an Audi a4 b7 2.0 TDI BRD 170 hp, that has the geared module from factory?
My chain has just broke on my seat ibiza 1.4tdi 2010 model. Fsh mint car. Just snapped then shredding the timing belt....wonder if they do a delete kit for the bms engine
hi.. great video VW Passat 2007 UK.. I had the oil pressure message twice in the last 8 month as I'm writing my local garage is trying to fix the fault by fitting 1.9 oil pump similar to this way in the video. I was told it is a common fault in all Passat and audi 2.0 litre engines.. great video..keep them coming
Hi great and detailed videos as usual, hope you and your loved ones are all well. I have a 1.9tdi European golf on a bxe engine, so registered in 2009' I know there are minor changes to the 1.9tdi in this last edition of the vag 1.9tdi's. What applies to my engine in this case? I have a hex bearing Shaft ready to fit to the oil pump, my car is currently on 106000 miles so overdue the Shaft bearing change. Are the oil Pan bolts on my car male or female torx heads? I can't find out that anywhere,? Thanks again for your videos.
does the 2006 brm tdi use this system and if so will the check engine light come on to give us an indication that there is low oil pressure? Also that delete kit, where do i get it and is it something i can do i am pretty techincally savvy thank you
I could do with an answer to this as currently have my modified oil pump ready to fit onto a replacement engine. Need to make sure the balance shafts are in the correct orientation compared to the crank but not sure how to find this out.
Thank you, this is so informative! Recently got an '06 SEAT Altea FR, it's only at 65k miles but I know this will be a problem sooner or later and now I can keep my baby running for years hopefully. Does anyone know after how long in miles or years I can expect to start losing oil pressure?
So myturbodiseldotcom, all you need is to remove the balance shafts stuff and install the other oil pump system on the bottom of the motor and that's it? You actually remove all the balance shafts? how bout the amount of extra oil you'll need to feed the motor for that extra volume your taking? In the end of the video i don't quite understand because i'm not native ENG so its hard for me to keep up with this part here: "Plug one oil feed for this balance shaft otherwise that oil pressure will leak out that hole" what does this means? Thanks so much for the video, im at 157000km B7 2.0 BLB motor and crossing my fingers everyday when i start the car.
When removing the balance shaft assembly, an oil feed hole is left open. This hole needs to be plugged (threads cut inside the hole and a plug needs to be threaded into place)... if the hole is left open, oil flow / pressure from the pump will escape out of that hole, which results in no oil pressure.
***** Thanks.. just finished making the balance shaft delete and so far im very happy. Motor feels much more avaiable. And the noise... its like a kitten. The previsous owner changed the distribution at an Audi shop in Paris. My mechanic from Portugal just told me the timming belt was 4° off place. So be carefull.. even Audi or VW shops can have pretty bad service and mechanics! Thank you all!

Audi A4 B7 2007 - this has just happened to my car i think :| just after fixing a complete DPF blockage! sigh, at the time i did not know what had happened, stopped car checked and topped up oil, and drove the 10 miles back home in limp home mode and under 40 mph.....not that this may make any difference! will update you next week to say what the garage have found.
In USA/Canada, it's only the 2004-2005 Passat TDI. Many Euro VW or Audi TDI used a similar engine. See my website FAQ linked in the video description for the long details and more TDI stuff.

Hi i have a 2007 A4 b7 bwt can i also get it for my car if yes from where
can be monted on A6 C7 2.0 tdi 130 kw CGLC ?
Hello! can you give part numbers ??))
Great video td5 got chain driven oil pump no tensioner bolt has been known to come undone
Nice video! Happy with my BMM engine with the 1.9 setup :)
does the 2006 brm tdi use this system and if so will the check engine light come on to give us an indication that there is low oil pressure? Also that delete kit, where do i get it and is it something i can do i am pretty techincally savvy thank you
Thinking about doing the ALH delete kit, do I need to pull the engine to do it or can it be done in the car?
How do you time the Balance Shaft to the Crank shaft or does it matter?
Doesn't matter
@@Squlare Why not?
I could do with an answer to this as currently have my modified oil pump ready to fit onto a replacement engine.
Need to make sure the balance shafts are in the correct orientation compared to the crank but not sure how to find this out.
Hi where can I get this and how do I fit it properly
Hi! Which goes to the oil suction pipe length 2.0 pd engine on? has a shorter and a longer! Engine code BLB!
Where can i buy this kit?
Non chain model should have been recalled
Who would be the part and labor cost for this in a shop
The filter of the pick is very dirty!!
Thank you, this is so informative! Recently got an '06 SEAT Altea FR, it's only at 65k miles but I know this will be a problem sooner or later and now I can keep my baby running for years hopefully.
Does anyone know after how long in miles or years I can expect to start losing oil pressure?
I kno of a BLB engine with 170000miles and needs doing..turbo also as it starved of oil
Hello , will a recon engine with an uprated oil pump kit solve my problem ? UK , Thank you.
bueno
Does the 2014 Passat TDI have new platform compare with 2013 Passat TDI? Thanks!

So myturbodiseldotcom, all you need is to remove the balance shafts stuff and install the other oil pump system on the bottom of the motor and that's it?
You actually remove all the balance shafts? how bout the amount of extra oil you'll need to feed the motor for that extra volume your taking?
In the end of the video i don't quite understand because i'm not native ENG so its hard for me to keep up with this part here:
"Plug one oil feed for this balance shaft otherwise that oil pressure will leak out that hole" what does this means?
Thanks so much for the video, im at 157000km B7 2.0 BLB motor and crossing my fingers everyday when i start the car.
When removing the balance shaft assembly, an oil feed hole is left open. This hole needs to be plugged (threads cut inside the hole and a plug needs to be threaded into place)... if the hole is left open, oil flow / pressure from the pump will escape out of that hole, which results in no oil pressure.

Thanks.. just finished making the balance shaft delete and so far im very happy.
Most probably that the engine is gone. :(
And......
Superb - thanks 👍
Does the 2013 Volkswagen Passat tdi have this engine defect or is it later models with his problem?
In USA/Canada, it's only the 2004-2005 Passat TDI. Many Euro VW or Audi TDI used a similar engine. See my website FAQ linked in the video description for the long details and more TDI stuff.
No more videos?
Will try that to see if that works on Skoda Octavia 2008 Gasoline Engine 2.0L
Hello I am doin a bottom end rebuild on my Kia Sportage removed oil balance shaft to clean n it is cog driven do you no if I have to get it timed back up before putting back on thanks
