Hey Pete, watched a view of your vids now. Awesome stuff man. I'm from South Africa and shocked at the prices of your plants there down under hehe. Well done on your vids man I subscribed and looking forward to seeing more. I like your techniques and will try them myself. Cheers man keep well. Warren, Cape Town
Fantastic results with the cloning station, and I totally agree that some people go too far hiding the normal mess. A friend always tells me not to trust people that worry too much about that. 😅
Hi Pete I was wondering what machine that u r using I have looked on Amazon and I see a lot of them. could u plz point me in the rite direction:) thank u
Hey Angela, check out my original video, should be able to find the aeroponics playlist and just scroll to the start, as I set it up there. I think it's a SeaHawk Clone Station (Might just be available in Aus), but anything should do really.
Could you elaborate a bit on how you approach transfer from water/aeropon to soil? You mentioned not watering cacti to minimize infection through the roots. I have had problems transferring water-rooted cutting to soil - I often get root rot initially. The roots are used to being in water, so won't they struggle if not watered after transfer?
Yeah I think this is a common thing. I typically just chuck them all straight in soil and water them immediately. Just make sure it's well-draining so that you can give it a thorough soak and put it in a humidity box but it won't be just sitting in water and have a higher chance of rotting. The trouble too is that water roots require a higher level of moisture, so I think if you didn't water them, you'd run into the opposite problem of them drying out and rotting. The biggest thing is just trying a bunch of different methods and seeing which works best for you and then going with it. I'd probably try getting a fast soil mix together that you can fully saturate so that it stays moist but isn't soaking wet.
@@petevsplants7516 Cheers mate, thanks for the answer. Using a very chunky well-draining mix. Will try out himidity box to let them adjust to soil. Btw, I searched for you on Instagram, are you only on this platform?
Best thing I've found to keep algae and whatnot from growing in cloners or dwc is Hydroguard. Keeping as much light as possible out of the rez helps but in my experience without something like hydroguard to keep the algae at bay it'll take over sooner or later. Of course you can always just change the water every couple days or once a week too.
Did make me lol earlier in the video with the innuendo you are so funny Pete, so my sense of humour you come out with some real corkers 😂. Peaches looks so very happy, you have all done well with her🥰 You got some cracking roots in a very short space of time. 👍 Have you tried Melanochrysum in the clone station? Can’t remember if you have or not its one I’m having trouble with.
Haha thanks, mate. Glad you enjoyed the jokes and Peaches presence :D I'm not sure if I have tried Melanochrysum in it or not, but I think it'd go berserk in there.
I've pretty recently started with moss poles and pon because I'm an overwaterer, most people I have seen seem to have a hard time keeping up with watering esp on moss poles, but like I said, I love to hover around and water shit, so the moss as well as the leca reserve in the pot never go completely dry, idk if that's a good thing or if I should let them dry out more? I mean I think pon is made to be wet all the time right? And the moss should be fine with it too no?
Hey Pete, wow since the last time i watched your channel ( was away for a while ) you turned into the Happy - Next - Door - Garden Fairie . To see you so sucessfully propagate and hopefully make a fu.k Ton of money is a very beautiful sight. I am so happy for you . And Peach seems to have acclimated beautifully too . Have so much fun . Matt 🐣👋 PS: Peach's fur is so beautiful , amazing coloration , you think you might propagate it ? 🤭🤣
Haha thanks, mate! Hope you're enjoying the content. Haha fingers crossed. Yeah she's acclimated well :) treats the house like her kingdom now. I've a feeling I'd get serious root rot if I tried propping Peaches hahaha
Dr. Pete, impressive results! No bennies in the prop cups? I might have to buy a small prop station. Have a Kunzo tri color Adansonii coming and once it goes, may have to prop it so I can have several vines.
Fantastic vid Pete. Hunting around the garage for tubs of substrate and having to move the whipper snipper out of the way was literally me yesterday too. People ask me 'how much of each thing do you put in to make up a substrate' I answer like the average Nanna describing how to cook. You'll know when it's enough.🤣 Also mate how good are those prop stations. I've never seen so much rooting on UA-cam. Mind blown. I'll have to hit you up those Laniata are gorgeous. Loving the jungle taking over your bookshelf btw.
And I thought I was disorganized with my planting supplies! :D The things we do for our plants. I've mostly stopped using peat-based potting soils and switched up most of my plants to cocoa coir. Granted I think a few of my aloes didn't like it and lost some roots, so I'm rehabbing them back in aerated peat soil. Realized succulents are not epiphytic. But my tropicals don't seem to mind. Also trying to phase out perlite since it just floats, and makes a mess when you water.
In the "horse & buggy" days of growing marijuana, they were called Cloneators. I have a homemade version and it works beautifully transitioning to a "legal crop" in my old age. Yeah, monsteras did great. I killed my albo experimenting, though...
Haha yeah, nothing that bad will get in here (knock on wood). Maybe the odd spider, but the deadly ones aren't really a problem here. Snakes aren't that common here either in suburbia.
Not bored at all we want to watch you for hours! Please never cut it short because you think we are bored!!!!
I'll second that
Nawww, thanks Crystal. I really appreciate that. :) Always worried I"m rabbiting on too much
haha, probably only Aussies will get the rooting jokes...🤣🤣🤣
hehehe

I wish you lived in the US! I’d love to buy some of your plants! 😢

Yeah pretty much. The number of times I'm just hiding mess behind the camera... lol
Peaches loves you, totally comfortable with you and acclimated. What’s her story, Pete?
Hey mate, she was adopted after getting knocked up and having a litter late last year. She'd been dumped by someone I believe.
Best soil mixing vid I’ve seen to date
Thanks, Craig! I really appreciate it.

😂🤣 Chunky Perlite! lmao.
lol
So do you put the cuttings in cups into one of the clear (trug) boxs ? Do you put a heat mat underneath the cups in the box ?
Hey Melinda, no need for a heat mat at the moment as the room tends to hover around 25-27C.
Great roots.
...sometimes you get lucky.
Haha
It's not 10 mill pots. Its 10 centimeters.
True... Too much caffeine lol 100mm
Do you have any of those cuttings left for sale Pete ? And if so, where abouts would l find them ???
Your box is working like a Champion ! 👍💚🇦🇺
It's alright. Found ya ! 👍
Hehe thanks mate. A bunch are dropping tonight at 7-8pm on eBay :D
love that your bookcase in the background is slowly growing plant curtains!
Haha I know. It's progressively become harder to access anything on the shelves... lol

Don't worry guys I'd never trade you, unless it's for money.
Also your pac-man dudes are foam pucks but I think I prefer pack-man dudes
@@TheGuardianGamerOF lol glad you saw that! ohhhh finally lol thanks mate

Perfect end of week video with Pete and Peaches!
And great demo on mixing substrate😊
Hehe cheers, mate! Hope you have a great weekend!

Wipe the lid and other plastic parts with a diluted vinegar and water solution to help kill off the alge
Oh great idea! Thanks John!
I love that you're real!
Hahaha! The root jokes! When I visit australia someday, I'll know what to say or not say to plant people there. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Haha definitely :D

I guess just keep an eye on the root health of your plants and if they're loving it, you've got nothing to worry about :D

Your investment for your cuttings has paid for itself 10 fold. Roots for miles!
Hehe gotta sell them first :P But thanks mate!
Dr. Pete, impressive results! No bennies in the prop cups?
I might have to buy a small prop station. Have a Kunzo tri color Adansonii coming and once it goes, may have to prop it so I can have several vines.
Haha yeah I did it after I finished the video. Mykoz again. They're great so I definitely recommend.

Hehe thanks a lot mate! Yeah hit me up :P One's got your name on it if you want.

Hahaha shots fired! :D Yeah I need to try using a little more coco coir in my mix instead of soil and see if that helps reduce fungus gnat pops :D
Pete, you and Peaches kept it real throughout. As usually another entertaining video. Thank you 🧡🧡
Hehe thanks, Yvonne. I'm so glad Peaches is an avid participant haha
I would never be bored watching you. Great info with real life with plants. Keep it up, l have learned so much .
You're too kind. Thanks Judy!
🐸🧦
holy wow! check out those roots!
thanks for the awesome video, Pete. 💚
My pleasure, mate! Thanks for dropping by again!

Ok, Super motivated. Pulling the old clonenator out of storage.
Hehe good work, Angelia :D I'll have to try albos in the future though I think I'd need a huge one to fit them in
Maybe I’m just American, but it seems very brave of you to be barefoot in the garage 😂 though, maybe your garages are more critter-proof than ours
Haha yeah, nothing that bad will get in here (knock on wood). Maybe the odd spider, but the deadly ones aren't really a problem here. Snakes aren't that common here either in suburbia.
📣this is insane!!!!!! 😂😂 I love it
Hehe cheers, mate :D
Hey Pete, chuck a tag in the pots that have the heavier soil mix so your future self will know whats what :)
Good idea!
Make a video one day organizing the garage 😂😂😂😂😅
LOL...
thank you for purposely not showing how the station works, n make it 50% of the frame just to taunt me. ur evil 🫵
Lol, watch the original aeroponics vid I did putting it together mate. It's in the aeroponics playlist.
