    I hope they animate the cover stories and also most of the content that Oda didn't have time to add in the manga. Like Zoro's Backstory and many small details that he added. Also, I hope they keep the Loguetown episodes that were added because Oda didn't have time to add them in the manga. Also, if they could add in Ace's Backstory from his novel, Law meeting his crew, Kid forming his crew, etc; that would be great!😄

      @@kennethcedricalcazar2364I second this. G-8 was not only a damn good arc, it was better than some canon, and it was also so very well inserted into the overarching plotline. I didn't watch the anime until this year and honestly those early arcs are some of my absolute favorites. The animation is a bit dated but I love it because of it. There's so much heart in it.

    • @shotgunpete5117
      @shotgunpete5117 6 місяців тому +22

      Same as far as the anime goes I thought the early stuff was the most fun to watch because I didn't really notice the pacing 'issues' untill Enies Lobby really. That was the first time I remember really having a deep *sighhhh* when the allied Strawhat forces slogged through the marine defenses. It's realistic, but it just felt too slow. I also never read the manga untill I was caught up with the anime, and I didn't really feel those same pacing issues in the manga. So I'm definately excited for the new anime version if it's going to be anything like the 2011 Hunter X Hunter or Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood remakes. Those are some of my favorites precisely for that reason, it's a quality update that sticks to the manga cannon.

      I feel the same way about that. And i never had a issue with pacing until Wano but that wasnt the anime it was the manga too with that arc as i think oda over stuffed it trying ti make it epic and it instead cluttered it. I just used One Pace to catch up after giving up on One Piece a decade ago because of the pacing. It went from an unbearable slog to a pretty good watch. Then I caught up half way through Wano and didn't want to wait, so I watched the original anime. The difference was night and day, I should have waited for One Pace. I ended up either mashing the "skip 5 seconds" button or watching on 150-200% playback speed through the immense amount of unnecessary padding.

    I think my biggest concern for this is Oda's health. I just worry that between two anime, the manga, and the live action it's going to be even more difficult to make sure he's taking proper care of himself.

    I wholeheartedly agree with your thoughts on the batch release model. Part of the excitement of watching weekly shows is that you can watch it and then discuss it with the community. Arcane came out 3 episodes per week and it was incredible, everyone was waiting for the next 3 episodes to drop. They should honestly release it weekly or maybe 3-5 episodes at a time. Hopefully Netflix sees your video and takes it into account.

    • @lurchibald4863
      @lurchibald4863 6 місяців тому +5

      yea, i agree with this. especially in east blue they can just release each arc in a batch. most if not all of them should not be more than 5 episodes. releasing 1 episode a week would be to little imo (at least if they do ~20 min episodes). I sometimes just lose interest in shows that do 1 20min episode per week since it just always so little happening and thus I prefer to wait a couple of weeks and watch the show in batches (if I did not stop watching before)

    • @abduking.
      @abduking. 6 місяців тому +9

      nah i prefer the batch relese for this case. Batch releases tend to have less filter boating in each episode plus they TEND* to be better animated than weekly releases.
      bloating in one piece is it BIGGEST problems and i think batch releases are the soultion to that.
      Also one piece has already been animated theres not gonna be some extrodinary hype for the show when most of the watcher of the show have already seen these events

    The things that excites me the most is the new music and the overall vibe. Everything OP animated feels distinctly Toei. The live action was the first time the story came from different people and the new series will hopefully feel the same. In many years we can look back to a great Manga and a great Anime.

    I'm actually one of those people who started watching One Piece quite late (2017 to be precisely.). I had no nostalgia for One Piece, as I had never watched it before, and I still found it absolutely amazing and quickly fell in love with the show.
    To be fair, I have to admit I started watching in the middle of the Marineford Arc, cuz that was just airing on TV when I got home from work (and I was exhausted and didn't really care what was on TV), but after that arc I went back to the very beginning - just because I wanted to know how it all started, and... well, I didn't know what I was signing up to, but I definitely don't regret it.
    So, as someone who started rather lately and (therefore) has no nostalgia for it, I can assure you, it's still an amazing Anime!

    I hope it'll be a closer adaptation of the manga. Much like the recent episodes, there can be great adaptations that tell the story of the manga without the restrictions of the media we currently have. (Release times on TV, censorship, change of animators and style, etc) I am very excited to see it and would love to reexperience all of those amazing moments again in an updated format.
    This has been inevitable and I always assumed we'd get a newer anime roundabout the time the original anime finishes. But I hope this new series can capture all of the things left out by Toei, due to being intended for audiences of different culture and time constraints etc.

  • @MegaIiyambula
    @MegaIiyambula 6 місяців тому +63

    A good way to handle it is having each episode cover 2-3 chapters, while cutting up stretched scenes.
    With 2.5 ch/ep, covering 1100 ch, One Piece would be 440 eps, including cover stories as fillers, would max out at 500 eps
    Romance Dawn (3 eps)
    Orange town (2 eps)
    Syrup Village+Gaimon (3 eps)
    Baratie (5 eps)
    Arlong Park (8 eps)
    Tiny Buggy+Loguetown(4 eps)
    That's 25 episodes for Season1/ East Blue Saga
    There's a lot of harsh cuts especially for the arcs Orange Town and Syrup Village, but they are also the most unpopular.
    A good fix for these harsh cuts is to have 30 min cinematic eps, for special events. I.e Zoro vs Mihawk, The Walk to Arlong Park or The Barrel Scene.

      S4: 2 Mid Water 7 Saga arks (end on Marry Funeral), S5: Water 7 end + Thriller Bark + Sabaody (ending on defeat by kuma), S6: Rest up until time skip. S7: Time Skip stuff to Punk Hazard end. I think it's important to mention the announcement form the perspective of the current OP animators. As some of them already said on Twitter, it must be so demoralozing knowing that the animation you've put so much hard work and time in will be basically irrelevant in a decade if everyone will watch the newer version, cause lets face it, almost no new fan will watch the original with 1300 episodes or so after The One Piece is finished. But to be fair it will still be watched by people catching up to the series while The One Piece is airing.

    It's also interesting to note that Luffy could unexplainedly understand the dragon, i wonder if it has any relation to the voice of all things or just a coincidence.

    My biggest issue is that IF the new series cuts out too many important scenes (even if they’re just slice of life scenes with the crew hanging out on the merry), then the new viewers won’t even know that they’re missing out on what made pre time skip so damn charming and lovable. And you’ll have everyone recommending the new version due to the great visuals and so many new viewers will miss out on what we all were privileged to see. Now, I don’t mind if they cut out the filler, but let it be 1:1 from the manga.
    Another massive issue I just thought of is this: if a new viewer starts the new series, chances are they’ll want to jump right into the original series to continue on watching rather than waiting MONTHS for the next arc to be animated, which defeats one if the purposes of the new animation (catering to new viewers).

I am so afraid that one day they have to switch out one of the straw hats voice actors because they have to retire or get sick. This gets more likely every year the anime goes on. Maybe it is just me, but if the voice of a character changes, i instantly loose most of my emotional connection to that character. I am still excited for the remake tho!

      It certainly will be a challenge, for me personally it will be a getting used to think, but i know for some people its just something that wont let them enjoy it at all which sucks because it's usually not the fault of the new VA, its just stuff that happens and the shoes are usually too big and too iconic

    I want to see how they animate it and if it does go well I'd love to see the dressrosa pacing because if it gets that far then no one will have to suffer through that slow slow arc and netflix having it is good and bad with it being netflix and not always having the best models for continuing shows but knowing that netflix is primarily hosting and not being too involved relieves me

    You've aired all of my hopes and concerns so perfectly. The biggest fear I have though is in regards to the voice actors :'( They are getting old, certain scenes regardless of how well animated or paced they are will forever lack the impact of the original scenes purely based on Voice Actor delivery. Honestly my biggest concern Voice Actor-wise is Mayumi Tanaka (Luffy), You can tell she's getting older and while cannonically it makes sense that Luffy's voice is currently aging, even in the re-recorded specials you can hear just how much deeper Luffy's voice is even when covering stuff pre-timeskip. Specific scenes that will lose the vocal weight for me include:
    1. "I want to live". Both Luffy and Robin's VA's gave such powerful performances for this scene and as recent specials have proven, Robin's VA can't scream the way she did whatsoever, and Luffy's getting on up there himself
    2. "Atarimaeda" (DAMN RIGHT!!!) During the Luffy Vs Lucci fight.....Luffy couldn't replicate anywhere near the same grit in the special remake of the scene so I can only imagine it will sound much worse by the time this new adaptation has even reached that part
    3. You are my nakama (to nami) that scream at the end of the arlong battle just cant be replicated at this point and it hurts 😢
    4. The Alabasta arc, with Vivi's VA being the person im most concerned with. The remake special and current episodes with her in them have shown her voice has very clearly aged to quite the degree, and I honestly don't think she'll be able to pull those intense scenes off anymore
    There are more but these are the scenes that immediately come to mind, I just feel like they took too long to come up with this idea, and the series is oversaturated with specials and remakes to the point where the only thing that will genuinely make this iteration stand out is the animation, my biggest gripe is that this remake is about 10 years too damn late. They say they want to cover the whole manga, thats a LOT of time even considering how much more condensed this version will be. I just pray the VA's and Echiru himself (along with anyone getting involved in the project|) are able to stay healthy and have a great time while doing it

    The only problem i have they might remove Condoriano filler ARC completely, for me personally i still considered it a canon for how seemless it was and there was no tie up to the main story and just a separate thing. The gags in that filler arc was top tier!

    Good paced One Piece is a then must see for everyone getting into anime.
    I guess the different opinions on when the pacing got bad ist actually where we each caught up. Becaus when bingint, the pacing wasnt quite as noticable as waiting a week and getting an episode where everyone is running towards the goal for 20mins

    • @TheOriginalDogLP
      @TheOriginalDogLP 6 місяців тому

      For me its the other way around binging it makes me feel the snail pace. When I only watch one episode a week I just watch it during eating and its kinda fine. But in general the bad pacing is definitely there from the get go. East Blue is quite snappy in the manga, with quick arc resolutions and hilarious gag panels. The anime stretches everything so weird, scenes linger to long, even many of the jokes get destroyed because the reactions and funny faces are too long or just missing the spice. Even the voice actors sometimes draaw their lines really out. Its hard to watch.

    • @GeneralGushma
      @GeneralGushma 6 місяців тому

      Nar, you can actually pinpoint the specific time. Pacing starts getting inconsistent after East Blue, but for the most part holds together until the Bridge Scene in Ennis Lobby. Once they cross the bridge the anime starts at a 1:1 chapter to episode ratio. People don't notice bad pacing in Ennis Lobby because the story is exceptually strong at that point but it is there. Most people I think start noticing the bad pacing in Thriller Bark, but then it feels like it recovers in Sabody (thanks to fleshing out the Supernovas IMO). From Amazon Lily onwards pacing is varying degrees of bad.

    • @kakaoke4061

      @@GeneralGushma Wow, you really analyzed the pacing, I wasn't bothered until I catched up in Dressrosa

    • @TheOriginalDogLP
      @TheOriginalDogLP 6 місяців тому

      @@GeneralGushma no the point you are saying is the point where the pacing went from bad to terrible - the 1:1 ratio you are mentioning. But it was bad from the beginning. Even in east blue saga the anime rarely covered more than 2 chapters per episode, often less. Filler included the anime took 61 episodes for east blue, which had 100 chapters in the manga. Its just bloated from the beginning. But yes, with Enies lobby it started to become terrible. And after Sabaody arc it became downright insulting.
      Shonen anime that are considered to have good pacing do around 3 chapters per episode, sometimes even 4 although that is already quite fast.

    I personally much prefer batch releases to weekly. I find that it’s hard for one episode of a show to capture my attention enough for me to be able to wait another week without losing interest. I think the moment that I finish an episode is the moment that I am most excited to jump into the next one, and the excitement will usually only diminish from that point as I get distracted by other things and eventually forget about it.
