The background music from this should be in the main video, I really wasn’t sold on it til I heard this.

I am sure this instrument will be in demand in jazz or classical music, as a saxophonist I would like to hear several jazz standards on the glissotar

Google remembers your website mentioning the slide saxophone as a very strong inspiration for the glissotar... But your site removed these mentions. Is that very honest?

Absolutely wonderful invention! Is it possible to make an instrument based on the clarinet too, or larger saxophones? Or are there physical limitations to prevent other variations? Thanks

Thanks! We are developing other instruments of the Glissonic family, like clarinet, flute, recorder, oboe, etc. I think a straight alto sax would work too, but it would be problematic with bigger straight horns to reach down.

I assume this might be easier to learn than a traditional saxophone? (As someone who can’t afford lessons this looks really cool)

No it will combine the difficulties of learning how to control intonation while playing fast on the violin (x 2 hands) with the difficulties of woodwind embouchure and vocal tract control. Should probably not try to learn this before you are stable on a soprano sax, and you probably need to get to that through learning another sax first (or maybe clarinet).

you'd think , but a traditional saxophone is all buttons . that means even though you have to memorize combinations of buttons - fingerings - they are fixed and easier to get a 'feel' for without much thought after a few weeks of practice .
a fretless instrument is a different thing altogether , you have to get a feel for the fingerings without any physical or visual feedback .
learning a violin or a fretless bass is definitely harder than learning a sax or clarinet haha

FOR 2.0 Grand add- full midi range board (slider), body motion, mouth, bell; Flute & recorder mouth pieces; buzz mouthpiece; Mechanical fx at bell activated by thumb slide, maybe Alto length but same pipe styleish. BELL AND mouth pick ups would be cool for Fx

My thoughts too. The Aha thought of the slot and ribbon structure is a $1K idea, but this could be spread over the many at $500 or whatever for the printed version, given it's probably low construction cost.
