I have the Dewalt pvc cutter and it does not cut the pipe straight. It flexes the pipe before cutting, and then when it pierces it springs back, creating an uneven cut. I will probably never use it again because of that reason.
Any force used to push a blade through a tough material will always be too much for thinner walls and too little for thicker walls. These tools only work in the avg material dewalt chooses to have as their testing/design sample. So on the worksite you will be using a variety and they will be thinner and weaker walls so the pipe crushes or thicker and the cutter struggles and leaves rough edges etc if it makes it all the way through. These are TOY TOOL gimmicks. They look cool but are ultimately a waste of money and tool bag space. It's better to have a selection of other tools that achieve the same result and less likely to leave you screwed on site when it fails to work and you've got no hand tools or skill in using them. A drill a driver and a saw that all that is needed in a power tool kit. Everything else is Gucci and surplus to necessity.
Got to say the milwaukee copper tubing cutter is better its a stand alone tool and does ½ ¾ 1" without swapping parts and will definitely get into more places. Milwaukee pvc cutter will get into more places cuts up to 2" but not a perfect cut but close
@@weldinggirl nope not sales just used them both just about everyday for the last 3 years. Definitely more expensive but if it allows you to carry less into a basement or crawl space and get you out faster it's worth it. ⏳=$$$$

The little twist on cutters can never be replaced. It's not that long of a process to validate spending a lot on a big clunky attachment, unless you've got loads of space and are cutting tubes and pipes for hours on end.

Yeah, I’ve had metal cutting shears that connected to the same thing for a couple of years now and they work pretty good, very similar to the PVC cutter set up
Does it take the same DeWalt batteries on each tool? Are they interchangeable? You can use the same battery as a regular drill, sawzall etc. For that tool you have in your hand cutting copper and PVC inch and a half 2-in PVC
dewalt has a circle saw attachment to pvc too. you just put your dewalt speed square against a pvc pipe and then run your circle saw along the square while squeezing the trigger. And it even works on all the pipe sizes if you rotate the pipe.
I have these tools and I freaking love them especially the pvc cutters. The copper ones are ok but where I live pex is what everyone uses so anytime I deal with copper it’s taking it out or minor repairs.
I was talking to my buddy about this...I was saying that if you need a power tool version of these things you're probably doing it enough where you'll just buy a dedicated tool instead of this bulky adapter. As a homeowner if I'm cutting pipe I'll just use a hacksaw cause it's one pipe I need to fuck with not 50.
Why not rotary tool or angle grinder? As long as you deburr it it always works for me and you don't have to worry about it fitting between the pipe and the wall/stud
For folk's that might not know as I discovered by accident there are adapters avaliable on feebay that will adapt the dewalt 20V batteries to most brand's of tool's.... There are also generic adapters with switch and fuse that mated with a led light fixture makes the best flashlight you have ever owned..... For the amount invested anyways.....
I am curious if they have this in say quarter inch size I do Refrigeration type work and was just wondering sometimes it'd be a lot easier to pull the trigger then to rotate the cutter still need to Rheem of course
It's a very old tool My father who is an AC technician who also cut cooper cooling lines, he use this tool everytime brand is different and pretty old, before this he had manual cutters
Ratcheting PVC cutter is much smaller and lighter and almost as fast. If the copper pipe cutter was made for soft copper (as in it’s not going to be too aggressive and crimp it) I might use it on a refrigerant line, assuming I had enough space to do so.
"Hola senor, I need the DeWalt Torture Pro Flexvolt set with the angle grinder, chain saw, pipe cutter, jump starter and 240 large plastic bags please." "Hahahaha you are funny man. You don't really need 240 plastic bags right?" "No I do. It's for a wedding senor."
I definitely agree with all the concerns, although I think the 1 watt uv light, even 10k time over a lifetime, it minimal for health compared to even walking to and from a car twice a day. But I agree with the concerns of lasering, dark skin, carcinogens, PMMA etc. but in regard to the novelty of it, who cares if people like it or not? If it were safe, which I doubt it is, and worked well, which I also doubt, I feel people should be allowed to get a gimmick/novelty on their skin if they want without getting crap for it. Same goes for artist liking it or not. As for the lasering, just from a science standpoint point I’m intrigued, the pigment could still be destroyed, I guess the worry would be the PMMA, but even with normal pigment it doesn’t disappear, the laser breaks it down so it can then be absorbed by the body. Which also could happen with the PMMA but I can’t imagine it being absorbed and eliminated by your body not causing some negative along the way lol. Only good for when dismantling old pipe that is going to the trash anyways. Makes it a faster job.
How sharp is the cutting blade? Is there a chance that it needs to be sharpened?
@2jpu524 It should not need to be sharpened straight out of the box. Besides it's not meant to be razor sharp.
