Have you ever got stuck on this error message when trying to restore your WhatsApp backup on iPhone iOS: "Couldn’t restore chat history"

Have also face this problem. The background on my feedback dates to 25 June 2020, whereby i do my backup on iTunes (iPhone 6S 64GB), Whatsapp messages have stop backing up for sometime as due to heavy loads of images & video files which keep coming at least 60GB of backup required if using WhatsApp backup. It Crashed suddenly on 24 or 25 Jun despite updating the latest version of WhatsApp Version 2.20.61. I was actually in fact in the midst clearing and deleting some messages and photos
I was immediately directed to a page heading ""Recover chat history" , Whatsapp seems to having trouble reading your chat history and will try to recover it. This can take several minutes. Do not exit app or turn your phone off during this period, was connected to wifi. Then came chat box "Sorry something went wrong while trying to recover your chat history. Please try again." Then followed by final message " Unfortunately Whatsapp was unable to recover your chat history, please delete and reinstall WhatsApp", then it auto exits. i had issues to back up WhatsApp for sometime thus used iTunes instead but was unable to do so as it states there is not enough memory on my computer, it have left me more confused. I was simply trying to clear out some videos files and images when it crashed.
Old Whatsapp Messages can't seem to transfer to another phone like Android (especially when u registered your number, it automatically exits all chat groups, despite being backup to iCloud?
Have also paid monthly 2TB iCloud space but doesn't work. I have email Apple and WhatsApp, No assistance render at all.
Have try the following ways but didn't seem to work out :
1. Using Wondershare Dr.Fone manage to only show images save but not messages
2. Had went to check facebook if there's an alternative - Whatsapp business account on facebook is strictly from customer to website , no dual communication
3. Attempt to load WhatsApp on another phone - android, didn't work out. Instead it auto exits me from group chats

Hey mate, got the same problem I have fixed the mine one couple of months. I just have done the full reset of the iPhone and chose a previous back up from the iCloud. But in this time I didn't interrupt the Automatic download of the WhatsApp. Really take really long time even if you have a good internet connection. I just have lost the messages and media for the days after the backup that I have chosen.

What have worked for me was doing again the synch with my old iPhone turning off the display sleeping feature in order to be sure that nothing would interrupt the bk process. This way the backup on the new iPhone was fine

That backup is ruined, your best shot is to unload an old backup you might have on your laptop. If not just move on, that's what I did and to be honest it felt good.

Most of my photos in picture gallery are gone as I have not backed up to iCloud since I exceeded the free 5 Gig iCloud storage in 2020.

Today I deleted the whatsapp app and downloaded it again. After that I wanted to restore all my chats that I had but it is not possible. when I restore everything, it only resets the chats from February 22, 2021 and the chats after will not come. The advice is to find an older backup and restore from there, but you will loose whatever new conversation you are having now. I ended up starting fresh, I felt like I took a heavy backpack from my shoulders.

U will delete the orignal whatsapp
And download whatsapp bussniess
When u open it
U will be asked to enter phone number when u do that will ask u to restore the backup

Hello, I made 2 backup the first one is completely done, but the second one after 2 days didn’t complete and I stopped it and deleted WhatsApp App, now the restoring is stuck on 99, what is the solution? I tried yours in the video but not wok.
Maybe if you restore the whole iPhone from an older backup you can get some chats back, but not the latest ones.

Chances are you never finish 100% doing the backup on Google Drive or iCloud, thats why when you try to restore your history nothing is there.

I think i have found the root of your problem
As we see the size of whatsapp backup is 4.5gb
But on the other side the size on icloud drive is only 5.9mb
I think its corrupted or something
We should double check everytime we do backup
We have to make sure that size backed up on whatsapp and in icloud drive is same sized

@@ff-qo2ku The solution is to use an older backup you might have out there, the bad part is that you will loose your newer chats.

Man I literally spent the whole day trying to figure out a way. Have paid extra for icloud extra storage, backed up everything and still at the end I lose my data. Its really frustrating..never had these issues on Android before and I am switching back to android just because whatsapp messages are precious to me.
I hear you Rongon, I lost years of chats too, but to be honest I feel lighter now, is better to live moving forward without the heavy backpack of the past. What Android are you getting?
@@SuAmigoAlex I already had two phones. Iphone 7 and oneplus 6. So I'll be using the oneplus 6 from now on. I have always been an apple guy. I prefer instagram on ios, apple car play, etc way more than android and also ios has garageband. Lets see how it goes with android..
Got the fix though...Had to factory reset the phone again and let the restore process download the apps...I did not interrupt the download...took the entire night to download the apps and restore it like before but once it was done everything was back to where it was before the reset. Thankfully everything was restored, I had to do nothing..

@@riyachaudhary7404 I was facing the same issue too. But there is only one way. Connect to a fast wifi and let the download of whatsapp complete by itself, you’ll get the chats…don’t try to do anything manually. Let IOS download whatsapp automatically..

I did suggest several things to do, your best bet is to restore it using a very old WhatsApp backup...
