Hey Trevor! Helpful video, thank you. I have an issue and this solution didn’t work for me on this occasion. When reinstalling it is showing a chat back up from 2016 within WhatsApp. Anything post 2016 is gone 😢 I have iCloud backup on auto daily and can see within settings that there is 50GB of data stored in the cloud and WhatsApp is toggled on for the iCloud back up on those settings but I do not have chat back up turned on within WhatsApp settings. Is there a work around to retrieve the data? Many precious messages and business information lost
Hello! My last phone got stolen and with my new iPhone, when I turned it on all the apps were downloading from back up but WhatsApp app was taking ages to load or stalled from back up, so I deleted it and downloaded it from apple store. But the option to restore from iCloud was faded out and I skipped instead. None of my previous conversations saved and I am wondering is it too late to get back my old messages? TIA

Hi Trevor, the whatsapp restore didn't complete as I needed to leave the location/wifi. I now can't work out how to complete the restore. The messages are there but all my old videos and photos are not showing - they are just blank spaces? Please help

When I pressed restore it used the WhatsApp backup that I didn’t backup in a long time, but my iCloud should have the chats backup, so how can I backup from iCloud and not WhatsApp?

Dear Trevor, you and everybody else teaching procedures, go over the process without recognizing any problem... which is the same reason we are here. For example, i did all you did but at the end, the restoring is not happening, it keeps rolling endlessly: "Restoring..." Have you ever thought about this? What to do in this case?

For me at the restore backup stage it asks for a password. I unfortunately can’t remember my WhatsApp password or encryption key (if one was ever set up). :(
So I guess I’ll just lose all my chats

Once I tapped on restore I have to enter my password, this is to restore my end-to-end encrypted backup, then instructed to enter password, but I can’t remember it! I’ve had to have my phone cleared/cleaned due to fraud, will that make a difference to your instructions?

hey, I lost all my chats after I changed phone number, I didnt back up chat history and I deleted whatsapp and reinstalled it and then i lost all my chats, my icloud shows me all the data but i cant recover them. is there a way to revover my old chats? I followed all the steps in this video as well but unfortunately no success
I’m sorry to hear that. Try checking if you’re using the same Apple ID and phone number as before. Sometimes restoring from a backup might require the same number and account. If the issue persists, contacting WhatsApp support might be your best bet.

Does anyone else have access to your SIM card? If so then that person just needs to give you the code to you over the phone and than you can use that pin to restore your account.

Hi, Accidentally my whatsaap got deleted and now when I tried to reinstall the "restore button" at the top right side is not working so if you have any idea about this issue or you can explain why is that not working. I don't know if its happen with anyone else as well.

Hi Faisal! If the ‘restore’ button isn’t working, it could be due to a few reasons: ensure you’re using the same Apple ID and phone number as when the backup was created, and that you have a stable internet connection. Also, check that there’s enough space on your device for the backup. 👌

It sounds like you’re running into an issue with the backup recognition. Make sure that you’re logged into the same iCloud account that was used to create the backup and that your iPhone has enough storage space. You can also check if iCloud Drive is enabled in your settings. If you’re still having trouble, try logging out and back into iCloud, or restart your device
