Nice video! thanks for sharing! Keep recording new videos and give us a hint on how to fish for silvers.
Will do! Silvers should be entering the river by the end of the month and we will start targeting them. 🎣
Be there Thursday!!!
Right on, the fish are in!!! Vinny and I packing out full bags right now!
Watching your video as I am on the plane ready to take off. Can’t wait to be on the Kenai.
You’re fully committed now! Welcome to town! 😎🐟
Just arrived back home after a REALLY tough week in Soldotna. Just 3000-4000 fish a day on the kenai. One day just 2800. Quit fishing for sockeye and fished for rainbows and grayling. Halibut was good, but that’s not fishing. Caught two pinks which is bit strange as they aren’t suppose to be running.
Just read 20000 ran yesterday on kenai. That probably kick off for next run
Everyone I know that went fishing tonight caught fish. The run has officially started! 😎🎣
Yes. Even us first timers hooked into a few at the soldotna state park.
Absolutely stoked headed down soon hoping for one of those days fish every flick
Oh you know it won’t be long for that now! Pouring rain like crazy today, I bet those numbers start going up just like the water level!
It amazes me how long it takes people to learn you need to get out of the water! Even the people who live up there don't seem to learn this lesson.
It took me quite awhile as well. Once I started doing this I hooked a hell of a lot more fish.
Yep! Keep that hook in the water, that’s where the fish are!🐟
It seems like that would be a better angle for hooking fish near the bottom. Thanks for that.
Just Subscribed. I want to really go back and do put hook in the water. Crazy how there is only 5K fish yesterday though.
It’ll pick up! They’re on their way I just know it!
Still a little early fellas… they’re coming tho. Just gotta get out there! Tight lines mi amigo!
Vinny? Vinny from UA-cam?!! Mi amigo! Only the tightest lines will do!
Best spot on the rive definitely keep it a secret or as secret as possible 😂 ill be there in a couple days. Hopefully the fish counts start picking up!
😎 This rain should get em goin! Hang tight! 🐟
Will be there July 30- August 5th. Hopefully the fishing is good!
Any recommended bank spots on Kenai or Russian to hit up? Definitely subscribing!
Fishing should be excellent but expect the tail end on the kenai sockeye run and kenai silver salmon to be showing up. Russian river will be all but over and closing up by then.
July 30th is too late to catch the peak salmon season on the Kenai. July 15th - August 5th is the prime time of the season
Just waiting for the second run
Big waiting game, exactly. I haven't seen any full grown late run hogs yet. Nice out though, unusually warm all of a sudden for just one day!
Will be there next week hope the fish come in!!
Once that run shows up it’s game on! It won’t be long now before it’s a fish every cast.
I will too. Flying up tomorrow. Fish counts show the Kenai picking up a little, but numbers are way down this year. Kasilof looks better from a fish count standpoint.
You boys will be hitting it right. 20000 ran yesterday. That’s kicking it off. I landed in Pittsburgh after being there a week of 3000 average
@@Steve-rr3gc How was the fishing at 3k a day? You limit out everyday? How long did you fish for?
@@chadlang1484 we would fish 5 hours with our guide. Came to camp for quick lunch they I would fish solo(daughters and brother stayed at house) in front of the camp( Big Eddy) till dinner. Eat then go back out till 10. It was really slow for sockeye- had hook ups here and there. But the last few days quit flossing and fished for rainbows, grayling and pinks. Did better with that.
Buddy at swift got one this AM.
Yea baby! They’re pooling up in a few select locations.
It's been a few years since I came up for the Sockeye run and I miss it for sure. I thought there were restrictions on boats so their wake didn't cause shore erosion on the Kenai. Maybe just certain areas.
There is a hp restriction....believe its 50 but might be 35, cant remember.
50 hp with a 20 ft boat 5 people will throw a wake at full throttle. Just don’t stand too deep in the water otherwise your waders will get topped off! 🐟😁
Found out through B&J Sporting goods recently that Ugly Stik stopped manufacturing their Fly Rods. As of this comment, B&J only has 60 of them left in stock, and that’s it. Bummer.
Oh no!!! What a bummer! I wonder if there’s anything comparable out there for the price. I’ll have to check and see what the local stores here are saying about this. Appreciate the newsflash!
Bings Landing is the best “secret” spot on the Kenai.
No doubt about that! Beautiful spot up in the hills.
H! i Im komm in Alaska am August fisching Saldtona. By By!!!
Awesome! The fishing should be excellent. Bring an extra cooler to store them!
Dumb question but is 20 pound mono strong enough? Newbie here, coming up in a couple weeks. Love ur content by the way.
It’s more than enough. Anything thicker and you’ll battle the line more than the fish.
Do you guide in soldatna area love your channel
I have a place by funny river
I do not. I leave that up to the pros... I used to work the charter industry and it really takes the fun out of it for me and is a lot like work! I appreciate the ask though!
Brooooooooooooo.......... you fish solo alot , me too. i fish the peninsula everyday. anywhere between russian river and anchor river. sometime lets fish.
You bet! Hold your fish up next time you see me and I’ll get it in a vid! Sometimes it’s too nice out to work so I find myself running to the river quick!
How are they doin at Bings?
I haven’t been up that far yet, maybe I’ll check it out soon. I’d like to float from there to Swiftwater if I’m ever able to plan a nice day this Summer. ☔️🤔
Numbers thus far for 2nd run are a bit low at least compared to last 4 years.
True Value in Soldotna has a pretty inexpensive full sink fly (not just sink tip), its also thinner than normal fly line. Think the brand is Grizzly......
Everything is a little late this year. Still waiting on my peonies to bloom!
