I have found the easyer way to take out this fortress even when it hasn't been weakened and you can do it solo. There are some vines you can climb that once climbed you have a great vantage point. There were no grapple points when I did this. After spitting some of the enemy you can take out the snipers then proceed to take out the alarms by shooting 2 of them. You shoot the alarm in the middle and the alarm that is the opposite end to the gate. After that make your way to the mortar. With it take out the last alarm then you will be free to bomb all the guards without any reinforcements.
Next time, try sneaking in through the caves by the lake. Just take them out silently one by one using takedowns and throwing knives. And you can also use explosive arrows on helicopters. They are way more accurate when used on moving targets.

They'll come in below you and you just hit them twice and the crash and explode. Once all the choppers are eliminated you pick off the remaining guys on the ground. If you take damage to your Buzzer, quickly land outside the fortress and repair it. If you run out of grenades you can switch to molotov's or hand grenades, or just land on the ridge above and use your next favorite weapon.

mat brodi agreed - the game makes them seem hard, so suggests you weaken them, or go co-op but I think that is (pretty clever) ploy to expand your gameplay time and/or explore co-op. Not complaining though - this game is the best of 2014 and 2015 so far for me :)
I remember doing this second try,(first time I died from the mines in the front). I didn't' know about the rpg or the loft so I shot down most of the helicopters with bullets and destroyed the last heli with my last fire arrow. The reason i didn't use my explosive arrows on the helicopters was because I used all of them on the heavies. It has to be the pinpoint of my far cry experience so far. And because of this vid, I'm gonna redo this fortress. Thanks.🙂

if you crouch right when you hit the ground it will silence your fall also get the auto cross and at least 9 to 15 throwing knives throwing knives are completely silent but taking out alarms does make a noise so if your afraid
I've unlocked the m700 predator and used it to snipe lower enemies from an elevated spot somewhere closer to the fort. Also disabled the alarms. For heavies used the mortar on them.

I've never really seen a difference in the fortresses before and after the missions, I've taken them when they were supposed to be very hard and I've taken them when they were supposed to be weakened, same difficulty :/

Hard to say - Autocross is quick-fire so great for hunting and doesn't drop too bad over distance, the bow feels more like a precise weapon and with the various arrow types you have a lot of options
I went up the vines on the side then took out the sniper, scoped it out, then destroyed the alarms, silently took out the buff guys and then went all out guns blazing, (took 3 attempts)
I appreciate the tips but please learn your weapons as well as you've learned your enemy it wasn't a bazooka that was haven't been used since World War II that's an rpg-7 you were using

I clear this eniter camp in under 1:30 with all defenses still up (so without the storyline weakening) without being spotted. Actually as a matter of fact I can also show you how to clear pagan's fortress in under 1:30 without being spotted. - If anyone is interested at all I'll upload a vid of it

Instead of spenting 5 mins of searching for enemies you can use hunting syringe
The best way to do this is to takeout all the snipers then destroy the alarm boxes then instantly call for help...It makes it alot easy try it

shouting and swearing is the lazy way to get dumb kids watching your videos. I guess, it works, judging from the number of views

i found it easier for me to go up the mountain and kill them using the recurved bow or a sniper with a suppressor.

I took out the sniper, then climbed up to the location the sniper was, and then i just used the morter ;)

I use a hunting syringe and a silencer on a sniper and goverhead shots and then I also use bait to create chaos
easy method damage all alarm box with silenced sniper just shoot it. or more creative place a mine on alarm box the one who come to trigger get blast

to shoot someone with a silenced pistol which a t close ranges enemies do hear it use a throwing knife
All you have to do is knife the guy at the mortar then use the mortar against them. When I did it it only took 3 minutes.
u can also do it wihtout being detected with sniper from cliff

Geez! I’m still failed to accomplish this stupid fortress because of damn flame thrower! I cannot stop them..
I remove all the alarms, snipers or dogs ( Bad Dog) then i just spam my granade launcher and rpg everywhere in 2 minutes then im done
