I am the honest vocal coach! I have been teaching for 15 years and been singing since I was 16. I teach from my own studio and also teach and mentor via email, and online via Live & Skype. I specialise in teaching children, and teenagers pop and musical theatre but I am trained in all genres of music. Indeed. All Saints are definitely the better singers on a technical level, but Spice Girls have way more personality and energy in their live performances and well in general really. It wouldn't surprise me if most people probably remember the Spice Girls, including the individual members, better nowdays, than All Saints.
But with that said; I don't really think it's that easy to compare AS to SP. They are both pop girlbands, sure, but their musical style and main target audiences seem to be quite different from each other.
Basically it's apples and oranges.
The difference in charisma especially is extremely clear it's actually hilarious.
That viva forever performance is iconic and really beautiful how the song ends the last minute or so.

I love the Spice Girls: they are bigger and better with o lot of catch songs. But All Saints harmonies, OMG, they're really good. They are perfect in War of Nerves and Black Coffee.

I love the Spice Girls, but I have to agree that All Saints harmonized vocals are better. On one side we have 5 girls and the other, only 4. Spice Girls are genius, they have marked a whole generation, this is undeniable. But in the battle of harmonized vocals, I get All Saints.

I agree, all saints had better vocals and harmonies but the spice girls are way more exciting, you just get this warm feeling in your heart when you see them. The spice girls together are a force. I do think all saints are great but the spice girls win all the way for me. Thanks for another great video!
I grew up hating All Saints, mostly because it was clear to anyone with a set of ears that they were musically far superior to the super popular Spice Girls. Now, at the dawn of my fourties, I have enough maturity to enjoy them both for what they are: Amazing!

Spice girls are the holygrail of girl groups. No one touches them or even comes near. Legends
You have to take into consideration that mosdt of the All Saints songs were recorded in front of a television audience in a studio, while the Spice Girls were shown during world tours, jet lag, fatigue, viruses that abound in airports and hotels, while none of the All Saints videos had that aspect i ntheir videos, sounds were controlled, indoor climates are much easier to control to protect their voices as well.
All Saints are always a lot more exciting on tour. I seen them on their 2016 and 2018 tours and they definitely weren't as laid back, chilled, bored as they look on TV performances. I guess it's because TV studios have restricted space and they need to be on camera whereas on stage, they can move around freely and interact more. Their 2018 tour performance of Never Ever was a highlight especially.

Vocally All Saints were better but besides "Never Ever" and "Pure Shores" I still don't care for them. They had success in the U.K. and a hit in the U.S. On the other hand, I love everything the Spice Girls released and cared about the girls too! And the Spice Girls literally conquered the world, their singles were events.
All saints conquered the world too.... Gained 5 Number 1 singles.... Spice Girls had 3 Number 1 singles #justsaying

@@AdamMacleod83 Actually if you seach the Official U.K. Charts, All Saints had 5 U.K. No.1s, Spice Girls had 9 U.K. No.1s and No.1s all over the world, including the U.S. Just no way to compare their successes.

Plus The Spice Girls danced and put on a show. They weren't trying to be vocalists, they were showgirls.
Honestly All Saints might be technically better but ALL their performances in this video sound EXACTLY THE SAME
The spice girls apparently took all the spices away form the All Saints. Jokes apart, this goes to show that vocal technique is not all in pop music.
All Saints were the anti spice. Performance wise they had no personality, no drama or fashion (their fashion style was/is very minimalistic and mostly black and white) BUT they were/are more focused in having good vocals and mature lyrics. Where the Spice Girls were completely the opposite. I love the Spice more but All Saints have many pop gems and have managed to last more than 20 years so they have my respect
All Saints are the performance equivalent of someone doing the robot un-ironically.

Fun fact: Melanie C and Natalie Appleton (from All Saints) are close friends, and have been so for years. They have even performed together live, like at Melanie's concert in celebration of her 40th birthday (Sporty's Forty) where they sang Pure Shores.

Cool video but who chose the clips?. An All Saints fan by the look of it. How can a fan mobile phone recording of Mama and Goodbye in terrible quality be compared to studio TV versions with clear vocals? Also most All Saints clips were all 4 singing at the same time compared to 1 of the Spice Girls (Emma in Goodbye for example) still a cool video though and I love your videos

Yes!!! Such a difference, outdoor performances and concerts are not the same to singing in a TV show. Not the best clips for the Spice Girls
Yeah they took some of the worst videos from the Spice Girls performances. And, the ones they included, victoria and geri sounded amazing in the reunion tour and they cut them both out!
I like both groups! However I always had a preference to All Saints because of their sort of edge, defying the whole cheesy pop notion, I also enjoyed that they could do both uptempo and downtempo songs. I liked Spice Girls for the party and fun vibe (I know they have slow songs too) and it made them the poster children of cheesy pop. They were made to appeal to an audience, whereas All Saints were made for those who wanted a more mature sound, easy listening and/or musicality (I don’t know how to explain it)

I think that The Spice Girls kind of got a raw end of the deal just slightly on clip selections. Also given they dance where All Saints didn't? Kind of evens the playing field a bit.

SPICE GIRLS WERE SO MUCH BETTER, they had chemistry and a sense of fun and sistership....all saints were so boring, if i had to pay to see one it would be there spice girls, all saints look like they didnt wanna be on stage. they had better vocals at some points but spice girls ALL THE WAY!
Different musical styles and approach. They are pretty opposite, spice girls were loud, brash very high energy, whilst All Saints were more moody, down tempo and chilled. A straight comparison is kinda unfair. I liked both depending on my mood.
Thats the same as id better go watch britney than christina. But i dont go on concert to see just the show, i go listen to good quality music. People r different. Some just seek for entertaintment, others go listen and enjoy what they hear!

It doesn’t seem fair that some of the spice girls videos are fan recorded clips rather than televised clips. Also, the Holler clip was dubbed over using audio from their last tour.

I liked this time this video, but I must say that the one from the Spice Girls were fans recording and the beginning from the song comparing to All Saint were singing in the climax in the songs. Please react Viva Forever in Wembley.

Christmas in spiceworld tour 99. The spice girls did an acapella of say you'll be there and I actually was completly shocked that they held a 4 part harmony with staccato, a vocal slide up and a slide out and even posh was on point and heard above all the others . I will Try and find that on line for you guys best I ever heard them sing ever!! Plus emma has a great live belt during let love lead the way .....but all saints vocally obviously win.
In regards to vocals and harmonies, All Saints are far beyond the Spice Girls (starting with their their second album with Pure Shores and Black Coffee). Admittedly, performance-wise, AS is pretty lackluster, but I listen to them for their music. For the Spice Girls, Mel C has always been the stand out vocalist.

One thing I'm noticing is that most of The Spice Girls clips are coming from their huge concerts where their singing 20 plus songs in one go and All Saints are having televised one off performances on most of their clips... hard to judge because Spice Girls did tons of jumping around and dancing and All Saints just sort of stood there so the energy levels during shows are way off balance. Hard to truly judge technique like this, All Saints are singers for the most parts and The Spice Girls can sing but they are also Performers all around... just seems a bit unfair tbh, all in good fun though.

YES please do Ann Wilson from Heart if you haven’t already! I'm a singer of many years and she is the one vocalist I'd most like to sing like! But who could compare honestly? She is technically brilliant, her beautiful tone, her range, perfect pitch - never a bum note - clear diction, her intonation feeling, everything she has it all! She’s just got better with age. In her 20’s her voice was too thin, slightly nasal but then as the band developed her voice deepened in tone. She uses her voice like a fine instrument - just think “Alone” where you have difficulty picking her ridiculously high belt/scream to the lead guitar solo! It’s just WOW was that her? I love the way she can sound mellow and caressing and then be so powerful with such a lot of growl/fry. I notice a lot of rock singers hit that raucous point on their top notes or even when they hit slightly above their comfort zone. I really want more growl, as I have a naturally smooth but powerful contralto and project well and I have a fair bit of vibrato too that I had to work on to develop as I sounded flat when I first started out. I’m probably going to try and cut the vibrato a tad as apparently it’s can sound false. I would just love to know how to growl on high notes, ie, to be husky without damaging my voice. I’m glad I found you; I love your channel, so honest and never knocking anyone all the best Julie

It’s almost like Little Mix is the perfect mix of Spice Girls Charisma and presence, with the harmonies and technique All Saints had.
Little Mix are far more vocally accomplished than All Saints. I don't think All Saints had good technique at all and they are all pretty average singers.

I've always been a spice fan and would die for the Spice Girls back in their day but now there's nothing like Black Coffee. That song by itself beats the SG's third album as a whole.

Yeah, Black Coffee is so brilliant. Saints and Sinners was definitely a lot better than Forever, although I did quite enjoy Forever.
Spice Girls win as a five-some with Geri but once she left, all the fun was gone and when Spice Girls and All Saints released new albums around the same time in 2000 both as a foursome, All Saints whipped the floor. Pure Shores and Black Coffee and the whole Saints And Sinners album sound amazing still. Forever while not horrible, not so much. But all 5 Spice Girls with Geri in their prime 1996 and 1997 plus first half of 1998, they were just stars.

I am proud of their differences, the list is so random & the songs are not easy to compare. I love their music so much. My heart is 1000% with the Spice Girls they give everything, PURE ENERGY but OMG! I think they all are amazing!! "Holler" is one of my favourite song but very difficult to sing live. "ONE STRIKE" it's an excellent song!

The live performance of Viva Forever you watched is the dubbed version of the Wembley Stadium show that was officially released, you should watch the completely live version on UA-cam- Live At Wembley Sky Box Office. Also that video of Holler is from the year 2000 but dubbed with 2008 vocals.
The Holler clip by Spice Girls is actually audio from the 2008 tour, a fan remade it. The original performance wasn't even live lol

A bit harsh: All Saints weren't frothy pop. Far better in all categories except one.
All saints were soooo boring .... they almost look like they are in rehearsal all the time ... better vocals for sure but its sometimes not enough .... Spice girls were legends and so distinctive❤️❤️❤️❤️ when u said the first time « its boring » you just took the words out of my mouth !!! I don't know who All Saints are but what I noticed is that they seem indifferent to their performance and each other. Spice Girls really enjoy being on stage and enjoy being with each other. You can see that from their performance together.

This battle is very obvious i'd say. All saints were always waaaay better on vocals, but Spice girls songs are SO ICONIC, i mean, i hard to compare.
Their original Under The Bridge on the album is amazing
