Sony Vegas - How To Remove Green Screen Tutorial

In this tutorial I cover how to remove green screen backgrounds using sony vegas chroma keyer and level adjustments for your footage. Its just the basics and there are a dozen other ways to do this but this is the MOST basic way I have found for brand new green screen editors in vegas.

I'm wondering - once you've used pan/crop and mask to do the green screen operation, can you then do normal pan/crop on it? I can't seem to find a way to do it.

Don't worry, it took me ages to figure it out but you know how you can scroll the video along on pan/crop. Well there's one notch that move it along and one underneath. The one underneath is for the mask, but if you click the notch above, that gets you back on the pan/crop frame. I probably didn't explain that well, but I hope you understand.

My background stays black, doesn't let the background show through. Background is below my actor, when the green screen goes black from the instructions I followed.. it stays black.. no transparency. I'm on Sony Vegas 13.

Have you changed the compositing mode? I changed it to 'cut' and the black went away, (one of the composite settings should work, because I often use composite to eliminate black backgrounds)

Click View it is near file and edit. Then go to window layouts and click default layout. If that did not work put your background on the top track then the video with the greenscreen on the bottom track. Or just search YT lol.

yes, you can change the color in chroma keyer (it basically works with every color)

+RoseLuda A I had that problem too. Have you tried making sure the "split screen" button above the preview isnt selected? (button on the left of "Preview - Full" or preview -bla bla bla ) Worked for me :)

I did get my plugins to work, but it was unexpected. Since I was new to the program and had clicked on the box for those "safe areas" to show up, I was just trying to figure out how to turn that off. I guess I somehow clicked the button that enables plugins... Thanks though. :D I'm an idiot... :)
