Lobster Grinch here..growing up on the coast of Maine and living here still gives you a few insights that we keep to ourselves and away from tourists. I'll give you one freebie..none of us, locals, that is, eat a lobster over two pounds. Never. They go to the restaurants for the tourists because the meat is too stringy/rubbery. One and a half to two pounds max. Big lobsters are fun to look at, not fun to eat.
SF local here- New England lobster eatery is always busy no matter what time of the day and it is imo the best seafood/lobster spot we have. I can vouch for him. 👍🏻
@@roasty80 his whole channel is about going to good food places, why would he make a video doing a bad review and then hurting a restaurant just because he didn’t like it
Yes thank you for pointing that out. It really makes me sad when we are irresponsible with the world so why are they selling Canadian Lobster in San Francisco anyway Crab would be a local crustacean to have There. We need to educate ourselves so we don’t eat irresponsiblly
Yes - as someone who lives in Maine, it's not Maine lobster, that's for sure. We have very strict laws about this sort of thing. It's very illegal to take breeders out for consumption. Also, the biggest lobsters don't always mean the sweetest, most tender meat. Bigger = older critter, not as tender.
The New England Lobster Company is not in San Francisco, I was looking to est there and googled it and it is in Burlingame, why say SF if you aren't. 😂😂😂
I've been watching Mike so long that after he dumped the spicy meat into that bowl of noodles, I said outloud, "He's gonna need some acid to balance that heat! It's either gonna be black vinegar or a buttload of citrus." And sure enough, it was the vinegar!! 😂😂😂 😂
I’m from NZ and these places are the only places I eat San fran! We found a couple of treasures in January one called El Porteno (empanadas) and taqueria el nayarita, we can’t wait to go back!
Thank you so much Mike !!! I love that I am a learning the great places to go to eat. I always had dream some day to travel and enjoy the delicious food. Thank you for allowing us to travel with you!!! ❤💕💕💕
That is Atlantic Lobster, so that is flown into SF. It might taste fresh, but it is not. You can tell by the size of the claws. Edit: Unless they fly them live that is... woops!
I was there years ago and they are flown in live. They actually have huge tanks you can see to keep them fresh. Impressive operation and a really informal atmosphere.
Oh my gosh. Never seen a lobster that big. How can you do it Mikey. Don't like the innards. But that's OK. Clam chowder with Tabasco. That's it. Seafood Heaven. The pork sandwich was up my alley. Oh gosh what a contrast to seafood.❤❤😛👌😋😋
Just remember back in the day in the northeast it used to be given to people in prison as their food source as they were that plentiful and cheap. There were even human rights violations from inmates say that making them eat it was inhumane. Then as times goes rich people eat and love and the dynamic shifts. Enjoy this fact if you did not know about it.
If you think about the innards of what is in Crab and lobster I agree and even so when you see this yellow/greyish goo it looks worse than cat food. Except the bloke is not wrong it seriously is the best tasking part of the animal.
Mikey, have you ever heard of Killer Shrimp? It was a restaurant in LA area. My friend would take his first dates there to see how they dealt with getting their hands 🙌 dirty . 😂😂😂😂❤🎉
We are from New England and live in The Bay. We NEVER eat the innards of the lobster, disgusting and i've been eating them 74 yrs. We go the the NE eatery for every occasion, for the last 20 yrs.
I watch all your videos if your in the Asheville NC area I'd love that and have lots of recommendations since I'm a foody myself and work at a great restaurant that would be super cool! I'm eating some awesome hot n sour chicken noodle soup watching you video right now!
Having lived in the SF Bay Area before moving back to LA - people don't realize that the combination of sea and land (Napa and Solano Valleys next door) - this is probably one of the best food paradises in the world. Nowhere does the sea meet the land with more.
I love seafood, but that thumbnail of Mike pulling the shell off the claw of a whole lobster is unsettling. I don't know why exactly. There's is something a little off about the way he shovels food into his face in general. No one else sees this?

Interesting. I never knew that.
Exactly. I'm not from there and I don't like seafood but even I know that.
i find his videos slighly suss. he always eats in empty restaurants and everything blows his mind. eateries are quiet for a reason

This man sure does love his Monterey t-shirt
He is simple on clothing but so invested in his content ! My kind of human !
They get those from Canada it's illegal to get over 2.5 pounders in Maine they are known as Breeders and are thrown back for sustainability.

I was thinking that its too big to be selling ....

Mike, you need to remove the "vein" (digestive tract that's full of poop) from the lobster tail!

A VPN lately had a data loss attack, so maybe don't promote it.
A very long way from New England.
They warned me not to put all the meat in the bone broth at once.
Mike- pours the whole lot in 😜

Anyone else notice Mike's eye is bulging??? Not sure if he's aware of it. Hope he's ok
Someone actually notices his physique is bulging like his fingers as well like hot dogs.
How the hell do y'all know when he goes to the doctor lol
Y’all got me looking lol and now I’m like ooooo now I see it…his left eye
Could be a thyroid problem. Love ya vids mike.

Crab back!
i eat the Shrimp with the shells on too
That place is one hours drive from my home. But we do the drive because it’s worth it!! And it’s mainly Bay Area locals. So no huge crowds!!
Your one eye is changing nationalities
Was that crab backed cooked or raw?
Hey mike
That was a tasty tour of food fabulousness! Thanks for sharing.💯❤️
It's brown edible crab, not dungeness crab.
That is my favorite Maine Lobster place anywhere but the prices have skyrocketed since their opening. Love the Lobster cocktail! Thanks for sharing.
That's not in Maine. He said San Francisco Bay area. That's California 😂
@@ndb_1982 I said Maine Lobster not the State! I know where it is as I eat there anytime I’m in SFO.

That wasn’t a Maine lobster. That size gets thrown back or the lobsterman gets fined because it’s over the size limit.

seefood for breakfast is healthy
Providing the food price will be helpful.
I was under the assumption that any lobster over 3lbs isn’t as sweet and tender as a smaller lobster 🦞
You’re always uploading when I’m hungry huh?

Can’t have a video without Chinese food included I see lol

that lobster is a beast!
Such a big fan Mike ❤❤❤❤
