    I know that Ian is a huge mahogany fan so I don’t say this lightly, but of all the hog guitars smaller than a dreadnought that Ian has demoed over the years, this Eastman has the most beautiful sound. Great performance, by the way!

    I can’t thank you enough, Ian. I’m looking around for a good guitar to take on trips that aren’t crazy expensive. When I see a video of yours I know the sound will be high quality and you’ll give a wide sampling of styles.

      @@ronlight7013 yep. I have a Recording King rd-328 which has an Adirondack top. There’s a distinct kind of growl I’ve come to associate with an addy top and that Eastman has it as well.

    Hey Ian, just bought this guitar based on your video, a used but pristine 2019. Amazing build quality, sustain and incredible tone. Mine came with Elixers, which strings are you playing with here?

    hello Ian, I always enjoy your guitar comparisons and reviews and your songs when you and/or you and your brother get together. Opinion please. I have never played an eastman but I am wanting to purchase the e10ooss/v. (eastmans are not available. I am not able to demo one and would have to order on-line) Your opinion please. Is the /v model a better sounding than this one? which do you prefer?
    Thanks, Kenyon

    • @ianmeadows6351
      @ianmeadows6351  3 роки тому

      Hi Kenyon! Thanks for the kind words. If given the choice, I'd get the /v. Its been a minute since I've played one, but I remember really liking it, and Eastman does a great job with their varnish finished guitars. It would be a guitar that if given the chance, it might find its way back to my house!

    How has the finish on the Eastman held up?

    • @ianmeadows6351
      @ianmeadows6351  2 роки тому +1

      Not sure about this particular guitar, but I have two close friends who have been playing/gigging Eastmans for at least 10 years. The finish on both guitars has aged like any quality nitro finish

      the varnish version is more open, and is a wee bit better. No doubt this will age nicely and open up, but there is something about thin varnish which just lets the guitar sing.

      I have the v version. It is amazing

  • @ronlight7013
    @ronlight7013 3 роки тому +1

    Nice demo and a sweet guitar albeit a bit dark sounding. Nickel bronze strings? As the fates would have it, I bought the same model guitar this very week. I compared it to the OOSS/v with violin varnish finish, and I have to admit that with a thinner finish the guitar was lighter in weight and more responsive. But - and it's a big "but" - the violin finish is deliberately "distressed" (i.e. all torn up) at the factory, and there's no way I could fathom paying extra for a guitar with a grungy, worn out looking finish.

    • @Bejaardenbus
      @Bejaardenbus 3 роки тому +1

      Finish makes 0 difference. The difference between one with that finish and one with that finish won't be larger than between two individual guitars. And dude, it makes NO different at all in weight, get real.

    • @rodolphep0nthus555
      @rodolphep0nthus555 2 роки тому

      @@Bejaardenbus Not true. Different varnish and the way they are applied, thickness of it, will have an influence on the weight.
      Now on this one vs the distressed version, can't say without trying by myself.
      But if he's tried the two, and says the distressed varnish one is lighter, it can be totally possible.
      I stripped down the finish on a Straocaster, an Japanese Hollowbody, an Epiphone ELOO, man the loss in weight was shocking in every case.

    Eastman sound great but u need to cater a bit more for us lefties!

    • @JohannesLabusch
      @JohannesLabusch 3 місяці тому

      As far as I know, the only thing lefty/righty on an acoustic of this build is the pickguard. Easily removed with some patience, a hair dryer and a bit of Nephitol. I did it on an Eastman 12-string, they don't glue their pickguards on super hard like old Gibsons etc. Oh, and of course you'd need a new nut/bridge inlay.
