When you said you could shoot over Anfield to good effect without risking hitting him, I have to admit I was expecting an appended "unless you want to"

You guys are all missing the point of the first tip. If you play aggressive you should adapt to your and especially the enemy team. In the clip the is7 and the other t10 tanks were on the other flank, so he could easily push in also he had a shitload of tds backing him up. If that isn't the case in your battle you shouldn't be so aggressive. Btw lemming nice vid as always.

Oh don't worry even if there are heavys there u can push and thats the good feeling when u

->Uses VK as an example and tells ppl to scout.
->People are going to do that in their IS-7s and 50Bs and get murdered.

Rng Adept play would've worked in an is7.
      50b obviously isn't a heavy

LemmingRush For sure would have bounced that hidden 704? And that Patton on the 5th tip so reliably?

    • @LemmingRush_
      @LemmingRush_  6 років тому +66

Rng Adept The play didnt rely on bouncing the shell from the TD.. I left that engagement with 2300 hp to spare. I absolutely could've taken multiple hits from that 704 and it still would have worked.

IS-7 is actually one of the best Heavy scouts because of the high top speed(and decent hp/t to get there, despite ground resistance) and relative lack of turret weakspot.
      Can even use optics.
I mean, what else are you going to do? Try to snipe enemies with one of the lowest DPM/pen/accuracy of all tier X heavies?

    • @june9048
      @june9048 6 років тому +17

also is-7 might have got there before the 704 was in position because the is-7 is a fast boi

As someone who often drives Heavies, I really appreciate this advice. I definitely agree that spotting can be a huge help in Heavies. US Heavies are especially good at this, because they have fantastic view range. It wasn't uncommon back in the day to see T29s printing Patrol Duty medals.

Holy crap I never was able to play corners with my friends because we didn’t understand how the pros did it or the UA-camrs did it. Of course we watched videos and stuff but no one said the simple statement of don’t press a and d. You saying that has for some reason changed how I play with my friends and made this game so much more fun for us. Thank you so so much. This was probably one of the most simple yet useful things I have learned in wot.

One of the changes (actually from before this video was made) is that light tanks were given an increased ability to spot tanks, particularly stationary ones. At the same time, they are more difficult to spot. This helped increase their effectiveness in the scouting role. Unfortunately, players rarely actually scout in their light tanks, instead choosing to play as if they were mediums.

Tip from an old timer beta tester. They will constantly change the maps on you. A sidescraper type vehicle with good gun depression has a better chance on more map types then most other vehicles would of the same heavy class. I've felt the sting of 20 changes to one map over the years to push the medium tank meta. If you can sidescrape with 80+ armor at tier 8+ on the sides you can work any corner. Ideally 120 for side armor at t9 and t10. because of the diameter shell to armor thickness penalty.

The push forwards with the PzVII worked so well because LR was supported by at least one switched on TD player and a couple of other Heavies. The arty also gave great support. Otherwise he would have been focused down quickly. This said, his use of initiative won both of the games he showed.

    Dear LemmingRush,
I've been playing wot for great many years now, and I've never really understood why some players chose to only play the most imbalanced tanks and at the same time spam gold ...until I recently started watching your videos - some people play games with the goal to win. For such a player, for someone like me to find that reason strange, must seem equally strange. However, I'm sure you've heard the expression "success is not a goal, it's a journey". For the type of player I'm referring to, success/winning is the goal, whilst for someone like me, success is the journey, and thus I play not necessarily to win, but to have fun WHILE playing and if a game isn't challenging it's not fun. Reducing the challenge by playing OP tanks and spamming gold would be to reduce the fun. I'd love it, even if it would surprise me, if you were to put this aspect into your videos or even better into your gameplay.
    Best regards
    Megamind

As for your first point I'd like to see the word "scout" go away and be replaced by "forward observer."

Respect man. I should say something too...
    .
Been scouting on Type 5 and Maus for a damn long time and it felt good man. The only thing I fear is JagE-100 with its HEAT. The key is you need to know the most suitable line to do this on every map, on many occasion and trust me it's quite painful to know.
    .
Shielding teammates is what I've been doing too since I became O-Ni chan. German and Jap HTs are good for this as their turrets must always in an angle in order to survive longer plus they're in suitable shapes. Dont ask me, I dont know but I've survived many friendly shoots from behind with E-75 and Type-5. They're great in baiting people shoots also.
The only moments I fell back is when I had really lower Soviet HTs in the front (except for the ST-1 of course). And... (*facepalm*) they ALWAYS fired at ME when I moved up front after teammates fired instead of permanent detracking and killing them. Thank to Jesus after many deaths I tried parking at a ridiculous angle and survived - purely baiting, nothing more needed. Still they dumped HEAT at the lower glacis and got blocked, around 50~60 degree you may block even 420mm pen HEAT on Type 5 depending how lucky you are with RNG.
    .
GOOD LUCK with the middle-map positioning to observe the battle. Sure you will be able to hold off any attempt giving perfect timing. However when SHTF, everyone running from a failing line *facepalm*, it's best to... RUN too, or just simply retreat. Sometimes it was too late to retreat to a more defensive position, you need/must/have to stay there and aggressively angling like crazy and hope that your sacrifice makes something. It's a medium tank job, sure we can do it too but it can't work as well...
I once stayed in the open, then hidden behind a destroyed tank, block ~4k GOLD dmg, duel 4 MTs and 1 HT at close range from all damn sides for 2 minutes. However I did NO spotting dmg at all as no one were shooting at them although there were 3 MTs and 1 TD behind me ~200m. I died stupidly there with only ~1k5 dmg did while they all ran off after I died. The enemies exposed themselves all the damn time to shoot me but... *facepalm* Keep in mind that you may have the same kind of teammates, or the guys just haven't drunk enough coffee...

Although about spotting: maybe you should be more careful about describing the requirements for doing that aggressive spotting. E.g. you need good support + you can not do it in a much weaker heavy (lower tier or less armored).

On console people tend to congregate on one side of the map and fight in narrow lanes. And certain light tanks can easily end a heavy in a pack.

Would love to see your advice on how to play bottom tier heavies . Being useful as an is3, bottom tier, in 3-5-7 can be tough when your armor can't really be relied upon.

Good points all and they do work most of the time. Heavy tanks are the work horse in the front line for sure. I play alone so if not supported you do take a big chance pushing a side when your team doesn't understand strategy. Always fun win or lose with world of tanks.

And my 5th and final tip is when getting flanked by an E 50 M is to set the Patton on fiire so you can kill the Conqueror, that lets you deall with only the E 50 M lol

Perhaps show us the set up of your VK heavy, like when you are "scouting" are you using coated optics on a heavy? or do you have a 4-5 skill crew? or perhaps using bonds for special perk

Another handy how to video. If I may I would like to request a tip video (not a micro tip, no one likes a micro tip). Could you please show us how to catch arty shells.
As a Unicum I’m sure you have a lot of experience in catching arty shells and while I do ok in my light tanks I feel there is always room for improvement. So maybe some tips on how best to position when catching arty, how to get arty sempai to notice you and perhaps some advanced tips on how to catch arty shells while driving erratically at speed.
    Thanks.

Always helpful to have an Anfield as a platoon mate.

I love videos like that except for the finish where you say you are going to give us a micro tip and it cuts abruptly, but keep up the good work.. great!

Remember to NEVER put yourself in a position to where you're team cant back you up if at all possible as well. I suppose that applies to all tanks, but specially heavies because you're normally slow.

    1. DONT camp at the back like a pssy, your a heavy act like it
    2. DONT sit nose to nose with a tank and block allies if you have help
(you made that point and totally agree)
    3. DONT lemming to one side. The other side usually get over run.
(you sort of made that point by saying move towards the middle or central)
    4. DO keep an eye on the map if you have won your side, move to help other side.
also so to adapt strategy to fall back to base or push enemy base if necessary
