My Wife's Equinox had the same problem. It made it so much easier to fix the wires by pulling the door panel and speaker. I just pulled the harness through the speaker hole. Fixed the 7 wires I had broken properly. Plugged the harness back and speaker, tweeter, door lock, window rolled down after 5 years and mirror defrost works now. Oh yeah the radio finally turned off when you open the door too. Very pleased with this video.
I want to say a big THANK YOU! last Thursday 9/13/2018 my passenger window stopped working. So, I was planning to test my window switch. As usual I did a search online and found your video. I never thought of the wiring harness. Today ( Saturday ) I cut open the rubber boot to discover three completely broken wires with two more about to break in half. I added three to four inch of new wire, spliced, solder, and heat shrink tube the connection. Installed the rubber boot and reconnected the harness plug. Turn on the car and bingo the window is working again. Not only that my passenger power door lock has not worked in about six years. I'm excited to say that it is working once again. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you this video was very helpful. I've purchase a 16 gauge strand wire, and heat shrink tubes from Home Depot. The solder and soldering iron I already had that in my tool cart.
Thanks, you put me right on it!!! My wife's 07 Equinox had the same problem (Broken Wires at Door Hinge) but different symptoms. Console lights and radio would stay on for appox 10 mins after car was cut off. Interior dome lights won't come on when driver's side door was open. Repaired 5 broken wires and all is well!!! Thanks again. Bye-the-way for those who may be looking, the Door Open/Close Switch is located INSIDE the door above the latch and below the handle - really hard to see - I had to use a mirror...
Thank you so much for putting this out there. I knew that I was having a short in my wires and the same spot so I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one. Also I have a 2005 Equinox and it's doing the same thing. My driver window isn't working and neither is my passenger behind the driver .
thank you so much for this video! I'm a "do it yourself" chick, and this video makes it seem much less intimidating. Everything on my right side is out currently: window, lock, chimes/alerts, radio speakers and mirror heater. I will keep you posted on the results...
Omg thank you so much! I’ve been having this problem for a while now. I’m working on it now and it makes so much sense now! ❤️ thank you! Mine is the passenger window though. Same thing I guess
Thank you so much for the very informative video. I know this is an older video and hope you get my question. I have a 2008 Pontiac Torrent. Suddenly, my battery is starting to be draining from something, and I am wondering if it has to do with the regulator on the driver side window. Years ago, I had this issue from the OnStar module, and they had to replace it and a new battery. My window motor went out, so I took it to SafeLite to replace the motor. They ordered from their after market place, an AC1, I think, and the cut-outs in the regulator don't line up with mine, so they kept it installed, and they ordered from a GM dealer, so I thought it would be an AC Delco, but it wasn't, and again, the cut-outs didn't line up. In the meantime, it's not hooked up properly to the locks, due to the wire not able to reach, because of the cut-outs not lining up, so my locks are intermittent and sometimes it locks up the entire car and I can't get in. Now suddenly the locks are acting up more often, the interior lights are dim and the battery is drained. When I start the car it sounds weak. I think it's an electrical issue, which is how I ended up on your channel. How do I pop off the rubber piece to get to those wires? The opposite came off pretty easy, but the side with the connector that you have shown in your video, I can't get to. Sorry if this sounds confusing. I am not familiar with this, but for my battery to suddenly drop power, when it's only 3 1/2 years old, seems like it's drawing current from something. And it may be that it's due to the incorrect part installed and my locks and the wiring are hooked up. Thank you for your help.
I owe you a beer man... You just saved me so much bullshit... I had tested the switch was good, tested the motor was good but wasn't getting voltage to the motor.... was pretty close to tearing the dash apart until I found your vid
Yes, pry the rubber covered portion at pillar towards door then there is enough slack in wires to reach green clip,. I slid the rubber off this, slid it towards door, past the broken wires, then shielded the good wires with foil and used those solder connectors that you use heat gun, protecting each wire and unharmed wires from the heat along the way, then coated any wire with nick in covering with liquid vinyl, everything works now and no more parasitic drain on battery.
How did you manage to get the green clip to slide up, I am working on passenger door and not a lot of room to get head to look or hands up there.. I have those solder connectors.. just picked up a $555 08 Equinox and passenger door had issues and a power drain, they must touch when door closed and create parasitic drain. Saw slow drain door closed, then no drain door open.. just looks like a back breaker getting into that area to release the green clip.. guess find some kid to do it..lol too old for me...
Just watched another video, they pried the harness from the pillar then slid the clip to disconnect, no reaching into pockets while in place.. so much easier than the hour wasted trying to pull it in place.. pry out that harness then pull clip...
GM has big problems with the old Equinox and let me tell you mine had the same problem and basically one morning i went out side and smelled a burning smell and raised the hood and my entire fuse box was melted to a clump among tons of wires that went from it and gm dealer said it started from the locks and they don't know why it never burned the fuses in the middle of this melt down!!! Car had 98k miles and it was a 2006 and it was basically a nightmare and not even worth fixing!!! People don't buy one of these older than maybe a 2009! Oh and 1,000 miles after that the head gasket went out at 99k LOL people this can make you have a bad year!!!
Thank you so very much. I will be working on this today. My wife's 2005 Equinox has all of the same issues. Driver's side window, locks, seat heater, radio speaker on drivers side . . I pulled the boot and noticed that several more of the wires had cracked insulation and are ready to split. I will be working on this today. Anyone have an idea what gauge wire this is? Stopping at Pep Boys / Auto Zone to pickup up some wire. This has been going on for many years. Thank you so very much for this video.

Do you just pull the harness part straight out to get it out or is that green part in the way

Did you just lift to that height or did the green clip have to come all the way out?
Just watched another video, they pried the harness from the pillar then slid the clip to disconnect, no reaching into pockets while in place.. so much easier than the hour wasted trying to pull it in place.. pry out that harness then pull clip...
En el diagrama como sale esa pieza de cableado? Tengo ese mismo problema!
