Wow thank you! I moving into a home that already had one of these systems installed. That was 9 years ago. I never knew you had to empty/pressurize them. Thank you!!!
The way iSpring instructed me was to do it "in place". Close off the water supply to the RO unit. Turn off or unplug the pump power if you have a booster pump. Open the RO spigot and drain ALL the water. I saved it to 1 gallon jug. Then using a pressure tester pump up the tank pressure to about 7.5 lbs. Shut the RO faucet off doing this. When you are done open every valve back up and you're done.
Thanks from France. I had trouble with a dripping faucet - an identical one to yours - and it was because I had pre-charged the tank to 20psi. I'm sure I had read that when I installed it a year ago. Reduced pressure to 7psi - no drips now. BUT at the very end of this video I noted your faucet is leaking! I think you need to check the sealing (2 'O' rings) where the spout us inserted into the body of the faucet.

Thank you! My tank was super full and it took me about 5 min to pump all of the water out. The water to air ratio made complete sense. Less pressure made more room for water 💧
Great video, to the point without the fluff, thank you. And just a quick fyi if you use brake cleaner it will easily take that permanent marker off your tank so you don't end up with a notebook's worth in a few years.
Thank You for an easy to understand video for the DIY guy. My tank was very full and heavy and I was able to release more than 1.5 gallons that wasn't coming out. I let out some air ( from about 7 psi ) and re-pumped in some to get to 5.5 psi. Hopefully, when I get everything re-installed ( new filters ) I will get close to the 3 gallons the tank can hold. I was only getting about 1.5 gallons before.

The tank should have a valve. Not sure how you would connect it without the valve. Maybe it was an aftermarket tank. I’d check with where you purchased the tank to see what they say. Sorry I couldn’t be more help. Thanks for watching
What if even with 10 psi water pressure for faucet is low? Pipe psi is good as it takes 30-45 mind or so to fill the tank plus hot water runs find? I have the 7 or 9 stage model from ispring

You need to shut of the cold water at the source under the sink by closing the valve. Then just turn on purified water at the faucet to release the pressure. Lastly, close the valve on the top of your tank. Then you can disconnect the water line from the tank to remove the water. You’ll need to leave the water off unless you have a separate valve to isolate the purified water system.
Once your tank is empty, and you add your pressure back in, around seven psi, after you fill the tank back up with water and check the PSI of the tank it should be much more than seven psi that you said it correct?
You can turn it upside down, but the water will trickle out very slowly. By pumping the water in you can evacuate the residual water much quicker. Thanks for watching!
The working max is the capacity of the tank (I believe) before it fails. The 6-7 psi is the additional pressure that you want to add once you’ve emptied the tank and closed the valve. There’s no way you want to add 100 psi of pressure to your tank
I’m not sure I understand the question. You can use an electric pump if you wish, but you need to be careful to only pump up to around 7psi. Not sure about cleaning anything.

@@rexinferi you can connect your ro system to any water container with diy float valve in it, and use cheapo electric water dispenser to get your filtered water.
Why did you need to bring the tank outside? You could have done everything while it was connected. Normally I do this every time I change the filters, which is annually for me. Use those digital inflators to make things easier.
You should see an immediate improvement of water pressure and flow once you perform this process. If not, there may be a leak in the bladder in which case you would need to replace the tank.

Since the reservoir functions as a bladder there is a constant flowing in/out in the background. There shouldn’t be anything to worry about, but it does sound funny sometimes. Thanks for watching

The house I bought a year ago already had a Rain Soft system. I have this flow issue, but I can't find the valve on the Rain Soft tank. Any ideas on how this type of tank gets repressurized?
Not sure. The way RO works the bladder works as a holding area, water in and out of the same hose. You might need to add another one in parallel or get a larger reservoir tank.

Might be that one of the valves is not opened up. Maybe there is an in line shut off valve that just needs to be turned to open? Not sure without seeing the system

Usually that pressure limit is on the tank itself. The gauge pressure has to do with how much pressure is needed for normal operations. The tank will withstand much greater pressure before it breaks, but it won’t function if the pressure is too high. Effectively it will be too high to allow for much water to be stored in the tank

Hi, I'm having a bit low pressure (not terrible, but just lower after I changed the filters). I have an 8 year old r/o tank from Culligan that I just re-pressurized. I emptied the tank, re-pressurized with the valve closed to 7 psi, and the pressue is still pretty low compared to before the filter changed. I also noticed this morning that the tank barely had any water in, and it's been filling since 3pm yesterday 3/5/23. Is it possible the water was used filling ice all night. Otherwise, I cannot figure out why the pressure isn't that grate. Also, before the filter changed, I could fill 1 pot of coffee with water and by the end it would be slowing down quite a bit. I'm wondering if I need to replace the tank...thoughts?
Not sure. It may be that it just takes a bit of time to fill up. I’d give it a day or so. If it still giving you low flow, you might need to check that there’s no blockage at the filter. You might also have a valve that’s partially closed. Just a few ideas. Hope that helps
@@homeprojectswithcarpenter460 I'll give it some more time. I did close and re-open all the valves. I also purchased replacement valves with the new tank coming. I plan to check all the lines to make sure there's no obstructions. The tank is 8 years old and before the filter changed had good pressure but after 1 pot of coffee it would loose a lot of pressure and come out pretty slowly.
@@homeprojectswithcarpenter460 so i messed around with it last night. i replaced the tank with an apex 3 gallon. seems to be working properly. good flow. i cant figure out why the tank fills SOOO slowly. it's supposed to fill in 2-4 hours right? i removed the drain line from the "drinking water faucet" and blew air through it to make sure there's no blockage in the air gap (recently had backed up sink drain). i felt the new tank this morning and it feels heavier, but i assumed it would be full by now (its been 10+ hours with the fridge line off). the stream seems good so i wont mess with the filters yet. i read more online and learned that with NEW filter sets, sometimes the membrane is bad/damaged so the flow is poor. if it doesnt get better in a day i'll try another new set of filters. the filters are from amazon, for the ac-30 culligan system. they were $43 for the 4 filters: Sediment Filter, Carbon Block Filter, TFM-36-A Membrane 36GPD and inline post filter and had mostly positive reviews. god what a headache for soft water.
There might still be air in the pipes that needs to get cleared out. If it doesn’t go away, you might have a leak. But I’d give it some time. It might go away on its own
What if there's water dripping out the top of the RO tank when connected to the system? It's very tight. Is that just a poor seal to be addressed with plumber's tape, or could it indicate something else that's wrong?
I have a Watt's Pure Blue H2O/3 stage reverse osmosis system. If there's not enough air pressure in the system. The reverse osmosis faucet will leak clean water into the drain system. Basically, wasting clean water down the drain. The reverse osmosis system has a automatic pressure valve in the system. If Air pressure is above 22 PSI will activate to shut-off the automatic pressure valve in the system. This pressure valve requires 22 plus PSI of air pressure to activate the valve. If below 22 PSI the pressure valve will not activate. Causing, clean water to be wasted down the drain losing good water. Not enough PSI air pressure in the tank/system. You will hear water gurgling down the drain from the faucet area. In my opinion, the best way to recharge these reverse osmosis systems is to Add Air after bladder tank is full of water. If your only adding 5-7 PSI in a empty tank. How do you know you will reach 22 PSI to activate the automatic pressure release valve? The thing is, people don't think about the 22 PSI to activate the automatic pressure release valve.
At 4 mins 19 sec, when you pump air into the bottom pressure side of the bladder in you get air out the top side. Is that not the indication of a bad,leakey bladder in the air tank. If the bladder was good I would expect the top to be at atmoshperic pressure, no leaking air from the bladder below as you pump. The bottom chamber is supose to be seperated from the top. Me thinks you tank is bad.

And what if there's some air in the bladder that's going to go out on top if we fumble to the bottom of the air section. that is, the air at the bottom blows the inner rubber upwards so that the air is pushed out of it, so it does not mean that the bladder is cracked.
4:15 There should NOT be air coming out after water is out. If air is coming out, u have a hole in the diaphragm. 4:26 U should not shut the valve when u are pressurizing.
6-9 months? I highly doubt that the millions of normal people with RO tanks, are doing this every 6-9 months. This is beyond routine maintaince, and most people don’t even do routine maintenance.

Due to all of my health bills I can’t afford a plumber. I wasn’t sure if should risk tackling a plumbing issue without any experience however I recently successfully replaced my RO filters and a cracked housing on the system. The Ispring instructions didn't work for me because after a certain point the spigot stopped draining, and there was still a lot of water in the tank.

This might depend on how far away the refrigerator is. Sometimes a long distance can reduce the pressure.

I’m not sure. I know for an empty tank it should have a gauge pressure between 5-7 psi. I’m not sure once it’s had water added to the system
There is no water entering our RO tank. What does that mean
Could be a broken or stuck valve at the top or the tank. Or it might be a clogged line. Other than that, I’m not sure. The tank may be faulty.

Yes you can. That is what I was taught. Also, you can save the drinking water in a water jug instead of running down the drain.

The tank acts like a reservoir. It’s the same tube in/out, but the water pushes further on down the line. It’s weird, I know.

I always re-pressurize after switching the filters, so this method should work fine.

I emptied the tank, re-pressurized with the valve closed to 7 psi, and the pressue is still pretty low compared to before the filter changed. I also noticed this morning that the tank barely had any water in, and it's been filling since 3pm yesterday 3/5/23. Is it possible the water was used filling ice all night. Otherwise, I cannot figure out why the pressure isn't that grate. Also, before the filter changed, I could fill 1 pot of coffee with water and by the end it would be slowing down quite a bit. I'm wondering if I need to replace the tank...thoughts?
Not sure. It may be that it just takes a bit of time to fill up. I’d give it a day or so. If it still giving you low flow, you might need to check that there’s no blockage at the filter. You might also have a valve that’s partially closed. Just a few ideas. Hope that helps
@@homeprojectswithcarpenter460 I'll give it some more time. I did close and re-open all the valves. I also purchased replacement valves with the new tank coming. I plan to check all the lines to make sure there's no obstructions. The tank is 8 years old and before the filter changed had good pressure but after 1 pot of coffee it would loose a lot of pressure and come out pretty slowly.
@@homeprojectswithcarpenter460 so i messed around with it last night. i replaced the tank with an apex 3 gallon. seems to be working properly. good flow. i cant figure out why the tank fills SOOO slowly. it's supposed to fill in 2-4 hours right? i removed the drain line from the "drinking water faucet" and blew air through it to make sure there's no blockage in the air gap (recently had backed up sink drain). i felt the new tank this morning and it feels heavier, but i assumed it would be full by now (its been 10+ hours with the fridge line off). the stream seems good so i wont mess with the filters yet. i read more online and learned that with NEW filter sets, sometimes the membrane is bad/damaged so the flow is poor. if it doesnt get better in a day i'll try another new set of filters. the filters are from amazon, for the ac-30 culligan system. they were $43 for the 4 filters: Sediment Filter, Carbon Block Filter,
TFM-36-A Membrane 36GPD and inline post filter and had mostly positive reviews. god what a headache for soft water.

There might still be air in the pipes that needs to get cleared out. If it doesn’t go away, you might have a leak. But I’d give it some time. It might go away on its own
What if there's water dripping out the top of the RO tank when connected to the system? It's very tight. Is that just a poor seal to be addressed with plumber's tape, or could it indicate something else that's wrong?
I’d have a plumber check it out. Yiu certainly don’t want a leak to cause more damage down the road

I have a Watt's Pure Blue H2O/3 stage reverse osmosis system. If there's not enough air pressure in the system. The reverse osmosis faucet will leak clean water into the drain system. Basically, wasting clean water down the drain. The reverse osmosis system has a automatic pressure valve in the system. If Air pressure is above 22 PSI will activate to shut-off the automatic pressure valve in the system. This pressure valve requires 22 plus PSI of air pressure to activate the valve. If below 22 PSI the pressure valve will not activate. Causing, clean water to be wasted down the drain losing good water. Not enough PSI air pressure in the tank/system. You will hear water gurgling down the drain from the faucet area. In my opinion, the best way to recharge these reverse osmosis systems is to Add Air after bladder tank is full of water. If your only adding 5-7 PSI in a empty tank. How do you know you will reach 22 PSI to activate the automatic pressure release valve? The thing is, people don't think about the 22 PSI to activate the automatic pressure release valve.

At 4 mins 19 sec, when you pump air into the bottom pressure side of the bladder in you get air out the top side. Is that not the indication of a bad,leakey bladder in the air tank. If the bladder was good I would expect the top to be at atmoshperic pressure, no leaking air from the bladder below as you pump. The bottom chamber is supose to be seperated from the top. Me thinks you tank is bad.

And what if there's some air in the bladder that's going to go out on top if we fumble to the bottom of the air section. that is, the air at the bottom blows the inner rubber upwards so that the air is pushed out of it, so it does not mean that the bladder is cracked.
4:15 There should NOT be air coming out after water is out. If air is coming out, u have a hole in the diaphragm.
4:26 U should not shut the valve when u are pressurizing.

6-9 months? I highly doubt that the millions of normal people with RO tanks, are doing this every 6-9 months. This is beyond routine maintaince, and most people don’t even do routine maintenance.

7 psi does nothing… we need at least 25 psi

I wasn’t sure if should risk tackling a plumbing issue without any experience however I recently successfully replaced my RO filters and a cracked housing on the system.
