I have a collection of about 150 original HMT models... It has been my longest watch deep dive into history and specs. HMTs tell a story... That is what it is about at the heart.
I just ordered two HMT pilot watches off of eBay. I love the style and the heritage there is among the people who worked for the company and those who were fortunate to receive one back when business was great.
The case is original. The hands, crown, dial are aftermarket. That's why there's a gap in the crown. Get an original HMT. There are lot of sellers and collectors in India who sells authentic HMT. And even an original HMT in pristine condition starts from $25-30. And goes upto $1500 depending on rarity. Majority of HMT handwinding can be found between $25-$80. Automatics also starts from similar range.

HMT's love story with silver and blue dials had always been embraced by many by then. These two vintage classy designs are worth to have it in collection. Thanks for posting such a good video again.

Great video Gedmis, I too have an HMT pilot "mumbai special", I love it, keeps great time, looks good too. I say fair play to the people refurbishing them, most of the time you can get a bargain. Just don't wear them in the rain 😀
I love my HMT too. It's an HMT Julibee Open Heart and it's beautiful. It's definitely refurbished but looks beautiful imo. Paid $25usd and it's by far my favorite watch. I've bad this thing in my fish tank by accident when cleaning it out and no water got inside at all, but I'm worried that water will get in after long periods of time. Overall, I'm happy with my watch
Most of the watches from uttar preshdar are Frankenstein watches, especially their vintage stuff, but they are interesting, cheap and pretty reliable. I still own a Frankenstein vintage Fortis and it is still pretty accurate with a 24 hour power reserve.
You know that weird feeling that like, even though you like something, you can just tell that the majority of people wouldn’t...? That’s how I feel about the one with the large minute track... just a little too big...

Pilot TBC hand wound , SONA hand wound, Ashwini( Cartier tank alike), Tarieeq (dater), Kalyan (small case automatic) & a Rajat premium (black dial) automatic.
These refurbished are not originals, they don't have a heritage value, but for 15-20$ imo they are good. And the original H|MT watches worth to have in collection
in India you can buy HMT now, the company is making watches, third party is running it now, but the quality is good now and you van get it i transparent case back too. and they also added new dress style pilot
I wanted an original but i couldn't find one. I even visited the banglore store yet they didn't have any in stock so i finally ordered one refurbished. They said the movement is original so om hopeful but waiting for the watch

Do these watches keep good time or is there any inconsistency in time keeping like running faster for 5 minutes .These watches come with refurbished movements taken from old vintage hmt watches.What is your opinion about these watches after a long term usage
The white one still works, I wear it time to time. the accuracy is pretty good ~ +20 sec/day. I like . While the blue one is broken. The crown stem broke and I can not wind the watch, also cannot find suitable stem to replace.
@@GedmisLagunathanks for your reply gedmis, well I have one doubt how is the power reserve of this watch after fully winding it , I had a friend who bought a refurbished hmt watch he says the power reserve of the watch is very low as it run for only 10 or 12 hours after winding it fully , He also told me that while winding the watch he could not rotate the crown more than 12 times after rotating the crown 12 times it stops , I think the main spring would be small ,do you know any thing about this problem.
Getting these watches means there won't be any resale value, but you get to own a piece of history, refurbished or not (since the original dials themselves aren't really the most robust or good-looking). Another way to look at them is that these are watches with actual movements by Citizen (hence the Parashock monicker for that tech on the dials) although with lower QC.
The dials look great, especially the silver and at those prices, I wasn't expecting a mechanical movement. The distance between the case and the lug holes is too big though and spoils the look somewhat.
@@GedmisLaguna ok, i had a bad experience buying vintage timepieces from ebay, mostly the watches comes from ebay with damages and need lot of maintenance cost after buying to fix them.
Not original. Aftermarket dials and hands. You can tell a fake HMT if it has too many colors on the dial. HMT is and was a very conservative company in terms of design. You will find original HMTs only on website or their showroom. Amazon Ebay purchased watches will be like this. 😐

I got these 2 also from the eBay, but tjey are not original. Most likely the movement is original. Anyway I like them, works good so far

Much better than omega swatch moonwatch which is nothing more so called bio plastic with 290$ & can broke easily when using tachymeter

Also a new HMT will have rubber seal and gasket in caseback and crown. But HMTs were never water resistant.

I have one for 2 years and am very happy. $15 (although I swapped out the strap), thin, hand wound, colorful dial. Where's the downside?
The crown stem of the blue watch has broken. While the white one is till working OK. For taht prec can'y complain much. Ant they look very good

The price isn't that high. I guess I' could sell one for the same or even get some bonus at the local market.
