I believe hmt is a real opportunity for india to make a real statement watch company as it has all it needs.. it has heritage, legacy and inhouse calibers... but yet they have a pathetic management..

Hmm I doubt there would be many available in Switzerland. as i don't know if they ever sold outside India or had any overseas retailers. I have heard of some export models for the Japanese market but don't know for anyone else. Also the mechanical HMTs are sadly no longer made. What you see available here are old watches or refurbished ones with aftermarket parts. They are very cheap here if you know where to look. In fact i have a video or two coming up with a few more I picked up. I think the best way for you to get an HMT would be if you know of any Indians living there and ask them to bring back one from India when they go on Holiday. Or join the groups I mentioned here and see if there are other people who import them. I think I have come across one or two Americans who have explained how to get one (shipping and other details etc). I have also seen some being sold on Etsy but the vast majority of them are aftermarket ones with original refurbished movements. Hope that helps.

Hmm, depends on the model and if they have box and papers. The quality of hmt watches is not the best so personally i would not like to spend more than 3k.
Its mostly experience to be honest and even then not an exact science. There is no harm in buying AM as long as you know its AM and you are not paying much. I have 8-9 hmts now and have 2 AMs because i liked the look and they were priced well.
It depends. HMT watches have been around since the 60s. So a lot of watches are simply beyond repair. So watch repair guys take out the movement , refurbish it and put it on a new case and sell them as after market watches. Did you know that Delhi Watch Company and Ajwain watches also used HMT movements while starting out ?
I think most should be ok. Like the Maurya or Uttam, those are smaller dials around 33-34 mm. The Pilot/Janate are 35mm, Kohinoor etc are also in the 35-36 range. I would recommend the Maurya as a great first HMT. Not hyped, looks very good and is usually affordable too.

Use the Facebook groups as you have more options and better quality ones. Always ask for more pictures from seller and clear any doubts. You can even ask other people for reference.

That depends on seller and model of watch. But you can find a good one sometimes for 3-4k. I have prepared another video where i talk more about this.

No sadly I have not used HMT Deepak. Only a few like Sona, Kohinoor, Maurya, Vijay etc.

Do any of the HMT watches come with sapphire crystal?
To my knowledge almost all come with acrylic crystal. Some have mineral now but have not heard of any with sapphire.
