For me X2 is the right choice as it's the most flexible and now also well rugged. And I'd rather to show interesting story more than just perfect 5k picture with action lost somewhere 180 degree away.

OK, all I can say is just how consistent you tried to be in doing a true compare and contrast between so many cameras, much like your prior vids. Thanks for the review. To me the new X2 does not offer any big improvement over the others. Better to wait or buy the Gopro Max. This came out the best overall. Can you quickly explain where to find this 4k upscale selection? I am using the exporter software from the Max on my pc

Check your levels when exporting the gopro footage. GoPro's shoot in full range whatever you are using to render out on the 9 is blowing out the lows and highs. (Software)

Thanks for the comparison video. Audio quality on the GoPro max is still impressive. Voice is full and round on the max and sounds as good as your studio mic through my AirPods Pro.

Great video! I liked the ONE X2, I think for the price it is the better option right now. But they all suck with sound recording, and as you said, hopefully the ONE X2 can improve something on the next firmware.
Hey Ben @Authentech I have the GoPro 9 and was keen to get the lens mod until I discovered that you can still do a full 360 horizon lock with the standard lens. The only difference is that your field of view isnt as wide and you get a little warping on the edges when you turn the GoPro 9 right through a 180 degree arc. Still its pretty dope that you can do this. Just turn on lens mod on the settings screen, then it shows Lens Mod is activated. Make sure you turn on Horizon lock and that your lens is set to Max Super View.
Is there any chance you can show a comparison in the difference of the field of view between the lens mod and the standard lens? I'm keen to see if there is a major difference between the two. From what I have read I dont think it will be huge Lens mod 180 degree compared to Standard Lens 155 degree angle of view.

There's a bug with the new Insta360 ONE X2: e.g. @ 2:00 the video capture/stitching looks like it's folding the ground and grass on your waist level, left and right. It's not flowing smoothly, it's micro-stitching. (less noticeable than the old model)

I still believe the Insta360 One R with the 4k mod and the 360 mod will give you the best combination, as you don't have to compromise on either the quality or choosing one advantage.
also the audio on my One R been great with no problems, all my Vlogs are shot on it!! I usually do not choose the Voice focus in the app, just the noise reduction in camera, nor boost the audio.

I was debating to get this. You think this is the best action camera? I want to use it to record long bicycle rides through the country side.
GoPro Hero 9 with the max lens is really great and the audio is also very clear but the price is my main concern. After the firmware updates, One X2 will definitely capture a good section of the action cam market.

And the Gopro app software is despicable on reliability. That creates another variable of what company to go for, depending on need of use.
Why wouldn't you buy the HERO9 Black with the subscription for $350?
one R twin edition is still the most versatile action camera boasting both wide angle and 360 view shooting. I have both GoPro 8 and the insta One R twin edtion, and they work greatly. If you have little interest about shooting 360 view video, definitely get the GoPro 8 or 9, which are perfect for wide angle video and Vlogging.

A little disappointed in no side by side with the max for quality versus insta x2. No pixel peeping either. Something that really helps in your other reviews. That 4k upscale though on the max is the first I've heard of this!
Nice round up all the 360/Action cams that would compete with the new Insta360 One X2 for your dollars. And I have say the new X2 really stacks up well to the field. Your really covered a lot of ground in the video, great job.
I just bought the insta360 One X2.... nice camera but less resolution in 16:9. A year ago I was in doubt between the insta 360 one x and the go pro 8. Because of your review I bought the GoPro 8. I think that now I have the best of both worlds. Only the sound is miserable. Best thing to do is buy a separate mic... perhaps the Zoom h1n with a lavelier mic extra? What do you think. Any other suggestions for a better sound?

Great comparison of all the 360 cameras and even some actions cameras. To honest there isn't much difference to me, at least on the 360 side.

Hey there. I have a question that I can’t seem to find an answer to. I have had many gopros, and I currently have the Insta360 one R and the GoPro 7 black. While they are different cameras, the GoPro gives me continuous shooting until the battery dies. Generally 3 30 minutes videos and dead. The Insta360 is completely different and decides to turn off when it wants. I never get more than 30 minutes without it shutting down. My question is, is there a 360 camera that will run continuous until it dies? Have you tested this? I race paddle boards and like to get my entire race. I can stop and restart the camera as I am

I bought this camera but I can't get such quality photos and videos as in the reviews of all bloggers. The quality is just really bed. The video is very noisy with a lot of distortions and the photo is just out of focus and a lot of noise even at ISO 100. I've tried all of settings, but my videos from this camera are always noisy with distortions and a lot of frigging and aberrations. What am I doing wrong?

Thank you for the hard work! Can you use only one lens on the ONE R? I would like to shoot 180 degrees in front of me while diving/spearfishing. If it is possible, is the file size smaller than a 360 video? And also once stabilized and cropped is the resolution of the footage full 1080p? or larger or smaller? I read about bugs on the Insta360, that it reverts to h.264 from h.265 if you set the latter each time you shut off the camera.

Urgh.... Helpful, yes! Though has maybe reset my choices again! Was edging towards to One X II over the One R with GoPro an outsider. The audio on the Insta360s is rubbish though! :/ Question really is, is the One R due a new upgraded mod? I'm suspecting the answer is no! So it may be I put off my action cam decision another 6 months! Not like skiing as an option this year, but I've been getting back into mountain biking again. Other problem with the One X II is it looks a lot less mountable!

Which audio setting did you have the X2 set to? It can be set to Wind Reduction or 360 direction focus in-camera. My understanding is that in Wind Reduction mode it will switch mics for the best sound.
This was recorded before the latest firmware (released 10/28) which added those options
GoPro Max wins this easily because of the very good audio. When you shooting action there are a few moments when you need to say something. And when these moments come Insta360 just destroys your audio, which makes you wanna throw all the footage into trash can.
But with 360 camera you don't need good audio cause you are using it on a selfie stick up in the air to capture as much as possible.
@@CubamusPrime You also use GoPro on a stick in the air to capture as much as possible in a Superview mode. I really need audio in Insta360 and I don't understand why you wouldn't ?

I like all of these cameras and for social media I don’t find enough incentive to upgrade from the One R. In addition, I think in a year the company will be forced to come up with something really special to differentiate its product so I’ll wait a year. Hopefully there will be greater resolution in 2021.

Shame to hear the GoPro app is crashing for you, have not had any issues at all with app on a Samsung Galaxy S9.
