You're absolutely right about that lock tab. The lightweight nature does make it feel cheap, especially with the pre-break-in action. Demko really should have rolled it out as a cheaper version and, once the design became settled in the market, upgraded it to the current steel and scales, building on the popularity. Still, they're sold out at a lot of places, so they read the market fine.
Kinda wish they chose a tougher steel if it’s really thin. Hopefully the 20CV doesn’t end up chippy. Cruwear or Magnacut would’ve been my choice. I’m sure more options will come out later tho
Interesting…I’m wondering if the absence of liners is gonna make for fewer aftermarket scale options. Micarta isn’t exactly a material that lends itself to a lack of reinforcement. That was a *big* selling point for the 20.5 and a reason I got one. Wanted tool steel…they came out in 3v. Not a fan of grivory…high quality micarta options popped up on the aftermarket. Bingo, good enough for me. I don’t mind aluminum or g10 particularly…I like my benchmade 940 and aluminum is a *huge* part of that knife’s vibe. It’s just nice to have options, I guess…
If you’ve never owned a “shark lock” knife, it’s gonna be really interesting for you. I really like my 20.5 but this is a different animal. They leaned into practical use a little more which, to me, is a good thing. The 20.5 is great…it’s just a bit thick behind the edge to be a *superior* edc. This knife looks like it’s trying to solve that.
Do you like it better than the AD20.5 Slicer? I was tempted at BladeHQ; they have one for $114 with the Non-Slotted 20CV Blade and Ultem Handle Scales. :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)
He'll never do it, but if Andrew Demko came out with that $99 less premium version, I'd be all over it. I really like the format of the cub, but I can't justify the cost when I know it doesn't feel premium and it's going to give me shark finger. The more I play with it. I'm super fidgety.
@@bmc5180 My pleasure, bud! Lemme know how you dig the knife if you end up getting one. Thinking about getting one myself after I finish saving for a Winterblade.
That is paying a thief that is profiting from illegal patent infringement while sending your money to China / Russia rather than a US company that pioneered an innovative new lock design. So... not sure I'd be bragging about that publicly.

You were the first person I thought about when I saw these. You are Demko priorities 😉 you now have a new model to start collecting
Lol
Can’t wait for my Ti Slicer to arrive ❤
Received my Shark Cub yesterday. My initial thought is that the pain caused by Shark finger makes me not want to use it!
@@williamspangler9690 yeah, 20.5 is more comfortable. Use the cub enough and you get used to it though.
@@pocketpriorities thanks man! I’ve been working it. While my finger is sore, I believe you’re right. Thanks again!

yeah good points and agreed

CPM154 or 14C28N both could be great options

Good points here!
Just ordered the titanium/ sharkfoot option. Really looking forward to trying it out!
nice! I have that one in my cart as I type, trying to decide between Ti and G10 on the Sharkfoot!

A cheaper version is coming out soon. Maybe September 9th.
@@JamesDracoCFH yep 9/9, posted an unboxing video $89.99!
I just bought one (Cub) at Blade HQ yesterday with Ultem scales and 20CV steel for $119.
Has anyone tried filing down some of the jimping on the lock tab to make it a little less aggressive on the finger?

@@Kris_Stiletto better for carrier, 20.5 is probably better all around
a $100 version would really hit hard for me. I've had no issues with givory or aus10a.
Agreed! Sounds like they plan to see how these do then may consider that given the production costs of lower cost options. Cheers!

Pretty sure they just released.
@@Sanguivore I just checked and you are correct. Thank you for the heads up!

How does the cutting performance compare to the 20cv ad20.5? I definitely like the thinness, but I'm iffy on how short it is.
I haven't tried the AD20.5 20CV but the shark cub appears to be 10-20% thinner behind the edge vs my AUS10A or 3V.
I’d even take VG10. The ad20.5’s I have in vg10 are solid knives
$200 for G10 where?? I see the TI/20CV drops on DLT tomorrow.
Nvm, I saw the end. You listed sites. DISREGARD MY FRIEND!
p.s.
Love the content. 👍🏻
Have you tried the North Arms knives? Just wondering what you think of them
I haven’t?
Great info
Which one is contoured with better knock down edges?
The handles are identical in that sense, both very thin and flat feeling but no sharp edges on the handles.
pivot size same as the Ti 20.5?
yep!
Arcade or Shark Cub?
Ha! I like the AD20.5 more than the Arcade, personally.. better comparison in terms of size, Shark Cub is smaller size.
Yes less materials for more money, I smell a shark😢
And yes $250 for TI
Picked up the jufuel 35$ version.. demko not getting my 200-250.. they crazyyyyyy

@@pocketpriorities boom! Nailed that!
naw. too small i'd rather have an 8" knife, 4 oz, with a thinner blade
