I totally understand why Dr Choi decided to volunteer at the zoo. I don´t watch this show but I loved how the character of Goodwin handled/explained the situation (beautifully - talking with Connor, how this would benefit the hospital, the endangered species of pandas) but the way she said it. She was calmed, assertive...brilliant. To me that was perfection in acting. Much more so that other clips I´ve seen with dramatic situations.
The animal just woke up from surgery and the first thing the security decided to do was pull up their guns. What were they planning to do? Put that animal back in surgery?

No it is not. You would need to have Fellowship as a veterinary surgeon. Not to mention all the hygiene issues you would have in the hospital. You'd have to quarantine the whole wing and throw away all the equipment. Plus the panda's weight would probably break some of the equipment and the face masks and other equipment wouldn't fit. I mean cutting through a panda's chest is not exactly easy either.

It’s the same as if you needed brain surgery, you would have a specifically trained brain surgeon to do it, but with animals there often isn’t a specifically trained vet for very complex issues because often more complex issues in animals aren’t actually treated at all, either symptoms are managed or the animal is put down.
